It saddens me to advise everyone to avoid this company

It saddens me to have to write this review. However, I rely on Trustpilot and other customers’ experiences when making informed decisions about who to do business with, and I therefore feel obliged to share my recent experience with Clearview Stoves.
We visited their showroom in Stow-on-the-Wold and met their salesperson, Steve. Steve was charming, professional, and very informative. Following that initial meeting, and before deciding to proceed with a survey, we researched their historic reviews. Most of the reviews dated back to 2024 and were overwhelmingly 1-star. There was one more recent review from January 2026, but that too was negative (2-stars).
As these reviews did not align with our first impression of Steve, I phoned him to give him the opportunity to explain the poor feedback. He provided reassurances that we felt were sufficient, and on that basis we decided to proceed. Unfortunately, that proved to be the start of a pattern of being let down.
Firstly, the survey date was changed with minimal notice. After the survey (which took place on a Monday), we expected to receive a quote. When nothing arrived, we visited the showroom on the following Saturday to collect it in person and, if acceptable, place an order. We were told it was not yet ready but would be issued on Monday.
Monday came and went with no quote and no communication. On Friday morning I left a message stating that if we did not receive the quote by close of play, we would reluctantly take our business elsewhere. At 7:30pm that evening Steve emailed with an apology and the quotation. Despite our concerns, we replied accepting the quote and advised we would attend the showroom on Monday to formally confirm and pay the deposit.
When we returned to the showroom on Monday, Steve was off, so we met with a colleague. She explained that because we wanted a coloured stove (rather than black) there would be an additional charge of circa £60–£80. We agreed. She advised she would have to issue a revised quote later that day, together with payment details, and would also firm up an installation date.
The revised quote did not materialise. On Wednesday I emailed Steve asking for an explanation. He replied attaching a new quote, but without any explanation or apology.
For me, this was the final straw. When Steve later phoned, I explained that despite his earlier reassurances about the quality of both product and service, our experience had unfortunately been the complete opposite. There had simply been too many red flags for us to feel confident proceeding.
Steve acknowledged and accepted our decision and was genuinely apologetic. However, as the saying goes, and as uncomfortable as it is for me to say this about him personally, actions speak louder than words.

The importance of knowing if your stove has a turbo bar

I am 11 years into my second Clearview 400 P stove and can't rate this model too highly. However, I was disappointed with a recent experience with customer service. I had got a little fed up with the quality of back firebricks supplied by my chimney sweep so thought I'd ring the manufacturer and buy the real thing. Got through with no difficulty, supplied the model number and received the firebrick in the post very quickly. But it didn't fit! It had not occurred to the gentleman to whom I spoke to ask if my stove had been modified to make it acceptable (at least in late 2014) for use in a smokeless zone. I knew it had, of course, and paid an extra £222 for this, but had taken no interest in how exactly it had been modified and assumed, in any case, that it would have no bearing on the size of the back firebrick. Knowing, as he should have, that some at least of their stoves must have what I now discover is called a 'turbo' baffle on the (inside) back, what he should have asked me was: 'Does your stove have a turbo bar, because if so the back firebrick will be different in size from the usual one?' But he didn't and the different person I spoke to on receiving the wrong-sized brick, whose impatience with my query was barely contained, denied it was their responsibility to query whether my stove had been modified by their own kit!

Still waiting!!!

I went into buy a stove and the salesman was lovely and said he would arrange for someone to come round and give us a quote. Had to chase and eventually someone came round 3 weeks later who came a day later than agreed and then turned up late. I know it’s been Christmas but still waiting for a quote from a month ago!! Not a good impression so far and do they want the business!!!

Excellent ordering/delivery service

I ordered some spare parts for my 400 series multi fuel clear view stove at 09.27on Monday the
14oct .l was told delivery would be 5to7days! Dpd email on the morning of Wednesday the 16oct said delivery would be 11.35to12.35 am ,the parts were delivered at 11.40 am amazing service..John Jackson East Yorks .

Excellent experience

Read the reviews after I’d ordered it and started to worry but as it turned out the customer service has been great. Advised it would be 2-3 weeks and arrived within 10days. they followed up with a call to make sure I was happy with it too. Looks and feels great quality. Couldn’t really ask for much more.

Avoid clearview

Dreadful company ordered stove paint for my fire, over a week later still not delivered. Found out later that I could have purchased a lot cheaper locally. Spoke to a snotty receptionist who told me I needed anger management classes but all I really needed was to deal with an efficient firm who cared about their customers.

Use at your peril!

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!
Aftersales is non-existent. IF you can make contact with anyone at Clearview Stoves, you'll be plied with empty promises. This is especially true of showroom staff in Stow-on-the.Money that is owed as a refund for over-ordered parts, WILL NOT returned. The Installer that put the stove in broke the hearth and the stove's collar but, won't come back to make repair. Even though it may not be safe!!

Long unacceptable delays in deliver for…

Long unacceptable delays in deliver for Vision 500 Multifuel stove and still waiting for free gloves over 9 months after installation, no one chasing up or knowing what is happening, or return my phone call to say what they are doing about it!
Poor customer service, do yourself a favour avoid this company and go with one with good reviews that value your custom, with an expensive item like this you need the back up of a good customer service department.

Seriously old technology

Seriously old technology. Why would you buy an old fashioned car with no power steering, comfort, with a cassette deck and poor brakes etc, when there’s a lot of modern alternatives. The customer service is disgusting. Your treated like a liar from the start. I’ve spoken to the same women a few times and she’s the same every time. She probably lies in her own life to think others behave like that. I was then put through to a man called Jonathan he was just as bad. I had the problem sorted out by a clearview agent at my own expense. I will never buy or recommend a clearview stove again.

I ordered a Vision 500 in early…

I ordered a Vision 500 in early September and was told it would be delivered in 6 to 8 weeks. After 10 weeks I was told by Clearview they couldn't confirm when the stove would be ready. I waited another 4 weeks hoping it would arrive but it didn't. Don't trust a word this company says. In the end I gave up and had a Charnwood installed instead. It arrived in less than a week and has been a joy to own.

Awful, dreadful and appalling customer service

Awful, dreadful and appalling customer service, would have given no stars if one could of! Buyer beware this seems to be the normal rating for the reviews for Clearview…

Clearview Stoves have had my money since 12th July, £1,854.00 and at the time of ordering they quoted that delivery would be between 6-8 weeks but they kept putting the delivery time back and back and back which at the very latest should have been the 24th August. Eventually by the 21st September, I got so fed up with constantly chasing for a delivery date/timescale with calls and emails (including emails and phone requests to Jonathan Greenall the MD) none of which were ever returned or responded to, asked for my money back on the 21st September as no delivery or information on timescale was forthcoming.

Even though payment was taken over the phone, the Clearview refund process can only apparently be done via a cheque and only the MD, Jonathan Greenall could sign the cheque which was to be sent via post. Unfortunately Jonathan Greenall has never been around to sign the cheque as he is always in the factory?!

Order was cancelled on the 21st September in a telephone call with mutual agreement between the man who organises the deliveries on behalf of Clearview and my husband as Clearview had clearly broken their Agreement to deliver the ordered stove in their timescale, which the delivery manager fully admitted to. To date no refund has been received and it is now the 17th October.

The lady in the Accounts Dept, who apparently deals with ‘all the refunds’ (that’s an interesting phrase from Clearview themselves, so guessing there are many!) is extremely unprofessional and very rude - even to the point that she actually slammed the phone down on my husband even though he was very calmly and patiently asking for the return of the money after 21 days of waiting for it!

UPDATE: My next course of action was having to go through my Bank to get the money refunded under the terms of the Credit Card Consumer Act which my Bank did under a credit card Clawback for undelivered goods and that was the only way I got my £1,854.00 back as Clearview didn’t refund me even though it was Clearview’s negligence for undelivered goods. Please note a Bank will only pursue a clawback if they feel there is good reason to do so and they did on my behalf, so in other words Clearview was very much at fault and were negligent. I have also reported Clearview to Trading Standards, Which Consumer etc as would hate even one other person to go through what I did with them.

Good stoves if you can get one, don’t buy direct from manufacturer, but terrible, terrible, terrible ‘service’ only purchase with the knowledge that you will have an extraordinary amount of angst, stress and daily phone calls and emails that get no absolutely no reply, pay up front by 2 months for a stove that then doesn’t get delivered, and you will have to turn to your own Bank to pursue on your behalf to get your refund.

PLEASE bear this in mind and go buy a Chesney or a Woodwarm….

If any of the above facts are disputed by Clearview I would be very keen for them to respond to this…

I would have given this company zero…

I would have given this company zero stars but two of the ladies I spoke to, one in the Ludlow branch, and one at head office were very pleasant. However, the lady who suggested the new part for my flue was downright unpleasant !! Not only that but when I phoned the next day and spoke to her about the problem, she denied having a conversation with me ! I gave her exact dimensions for a replacement flue collar and flashing. My husband did a 60 mile round trip to collect the item - it was attached to my new rubber roof by my builder only to find it was the incorrect diameter. My husband and my builder, then spent half a day trying to remedy the situation after several phone calls to the technical expert at Clearview stoves who was very helpful in terms of giving advice, which basically amounted to you need to buy a new collar and we won't give you a refund on the incorrect item which cost £173 ! I bought this item in good faith, and I'm extremely upset and disappointed ! They need to train their staff properly in both manners and product knowledge !! Avoid !!

Steve The Openly Vague Employee.

The receptionist (Steve) of clear view stoves (Stow on the Wold) is not to be believed at all. Says he will contact you regarding issues knowing full well he won’t despite promising to the contrary. Returned materials which had obviously been over estimated on the survey by their sub contractor installer pre installation. I am still waiting for a refund. Their installer was, I felt, a rip off merchant. Trying to charge me over £3200 on the day for a simple installation within a bungalow. He did not appreciate on the survey that a chimney pot would be required and tried to add on extra costs for that! Also wanted to add over £200.00 because he said he had not put the cost of slate tiles on the quote, despite the quote stating all materials included. This was all mentioned to Steve who responded in his nonchalant way and of course fell on deaf ears. The daft saleswomen said that a certain returned material would be good on the garden (enough said about her). I told the installation contractor not to bother turning up, looked elsewhere for an installer and got the job done for £1400.00 less. Steve when asked why he could not refund my money was disingenuous stating he did not have the facility to do so despite taking my payment when purchasing the stove. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.
Will be planting myself in the Stow on the Wold branch this week and advising any potential customers to steer clear of this awful company. They were warned! I want my refund!!.
If anyone would like to join me, feel free.
Next step trading standards then………..

Terrible customer service and repairs

The stove itself was really good until the hinge tab on the door of my clearview 650 snapped off. Being cast there's no way to fix it so a new door is needed. This is where the problems start. Emails never get answered, the phone whilst answered is pointless as messages clearly aren't passed on. I'm left with a stove that is unusable which is lovely in the dead if winter being the main heat source including for water. Despite actually having spoken to the receptionist and J.... back in Jan about ordering a replacement there is literally no followup or ability to order a replacement. Really horrible customer service and there's no alternative stockist for parts so if yours goes wrong, be prepared .

No Customer Service

Have given 3 stars because there is nothing wrong with the stoves. It is the management that needs to learn what customer service and care means. Treating a customer with doubt and suspicion when faced with a problem is a disgrace. Frosty attitude and very strange behaviour at the factory premises was unbelievable. All we wanted was a simple repair but their would be a charge for it. Less than 6 months old a screw head failed on removing the glass for cleaning. We paid over £2k for the stove but the management and staff were awful. We refused to pay and quoted our statutory rights regarding a product being of mechantable quality. Next minute a strange guy is taking photos of the faulty part. Got it fixed anyway with the help of brilliant staff in a different location. Oh, and no surprise the MD was not available.

Be careful when buying any product from these clowns…

I went to Ludlow to the clear view stoves shop there I found a stove I liked and paid for it including £50.00 for delivery they informed it would take six to eight weeks to be built , so far so good that was on the 6/11/22 . I phoned them up at the beginning of February to ask how long before the stove was read they told me to phone the works number as it was down to them now so I phoned them up it took a little while for them to find my details and said they would phone me back straight away, they didn't I phoned the next day but they still couldn't find my details but they promised to phone me back as soon as they found them , they didn't . I phoned them up two days later and asked if they had found my details and finally they had , so when can I have my stove I asked the woman on the other end informed me that she would get in touch with the factory and ask them for delivery date then hung up on me . I rang them back and a different person answered the phone they informed me that they didn't have my notes to hand and would ring me back then said bye and hung up. There is definitely a pattern forming here . I had to wait over the weekend and didn't phone again till the Wednesday again I had them tell me that they would get back in touch with me when they had spoken to their manager I asked to speak with him or her but they had hung up I phoned them back and they were rude saying they would be in touch soon but that was another lie . I phoned them again the next week and they said they would ring me up today the 1/3/23 I hadn't heard from them by 3 pm so I phoned again and asked them what time I could expect delivery, the woman told me that my stove wasn't on that delivery I then asked when would it be delivered she wouldn't give me a date and said she will speak to her manager and ask him . The time scale for this stove has been nearly 16 weeks they never phone back and don't seem to care about how the customer views them . I have had enough and am going to take legal advice on suing them perhaps they will take more notice if they have to pay over £10,000 in compensation because that is the figure I have in mind for all the messing about and the lies they tell and the fact that just never bother to phone back . It's a real shame as their products are first class but if they continue to be obstructive I will still seek compensation and my money back as they just can't be bothered and it's also a shame that you can't leave a minus level mark on here because these people deserve that

Absolutely shocking customer service

Absolutely shocking customer service.
As an installer who has always promoted these log burners I have been left in a position where I can no longer promote them.
Timeline:
Over £3000 order for two log burners for customers , one no heating since oct 22 the other leaking from an old log burner with back boiler.

Pioneer 400 ordered 14/10/22
650 with back boiler 25/11/22

Both paid for in full.
Staff couldn’t even find payments of log burners
Staff repeatedly rude
Loads of emails sent asking for collection date( email not responded to)
Asked to speak to the owner Jonathon
Was promised phone call ( to date no call)
Today 30/1/23 called to ask where the log burners are and why nobody called me back as promised and told the paperwork hasn’t even been sent to the Factory from the office 100m away yet so don’t know when the log burners will be ready.
Asked to log a formal complaint and that it be responded to by email, told by staff “to be honest I haven’t got the time to respond”
Wow 😮 didn’t expect that from Clearview Stoves.

If you want a log burner I suggest you get one from a company that can actually supply and has customer service that can at least assist.
Sorry Clearview that’s the last time I promote your company.
Time to take the livery off my van.

I’ve received 1st class service

I’ve received 1st class service. I find it difficult to understand all the previous poor reviews. The company make great stoves that really are well engineered. You get what you pay for. I have a vision 500 that is so easy to light and control. Fantastic stove!!!!

Buyer Beware - shocking customer service!

I’m sorry to say that my experience with Clearview Stoves matches that of many others here. I’m usually quite understanding but this company makes no effort whatsoever with their customer service. I ordered my stove on 5th October, and was informed there would be a 10 week wait. Still they expected full upfront payment of £1,500. After paying, I asked how I would receive my receipt and was told it would arrive with the stove. My only proof of purchase until today has been on my credit card statement.

I booked my installation date for the 11th January. However, by the middle of December, I had still had no communication with the company whatsoever, so I contacted them by telephone to get a confirmation of delivery. I understand that there has been a high demand for burners due to rising energy costs, so merely wanted to know if I would have a burner ready for my installation date, so I could amend if necessary. They said they would endeavour to have it delivered by Xmas.

A week later and still heard nothing. Phoned again; spoke to a chap who said they’d phone back. No one phoned. Phoned the following day and got the excuse they were busy. Still unable to give a confirmation. Wrote an email on the Thursday night to complain.

Then, Friday 23rd came and I got a phone call from a delivery guy to say he had my wood burner! Great! The burner had arrived ( albeit without prior contact to ensure I would be home for collection ). However, I happily went to find the delivery driver and brought him to my house. He then announces that the delivery is kerbside only!

These wood burners are extremely heavy and I am a single mother. Picking up one of these burners requires two strong men at least to carry it. At no point was I informed that this would be the case so that I could prepare for its arrival. Thankfully, some gas men were in the road at the time and they happily brought the burner into the house. Luck was clearly on my side today. I wish the same could be said for Clearview Stoves - their customer service and communication is absolutely appalling! I only hope that the performance of their stoves lives up to expectations!

I’m not sure what point there is in…

I’m not sure what point there is in writing this review as they’ve taken no ownership of their trust pilot account much like their customer service which seems non existent.

I’ve been trying since august now to secure a delivery for a stove that’s paid for and fail to get replies to emails and answer phone messages (they rarely answer the phone). Head office have a quite disgraceful attitude towards customer service and show as little interest as the shop in providing answers to questions that frankly customers shouldn’t have to ask e.g. when will delivery take place? I’ve paid almost £1,500 to this company, I shouldn’t have to keep bloody asking! Useless. Avoid.

Update December: written to them again phoned them and emailed the ceo. Not a single response. Never dealt with such an obnoxious and incompetent company.
