Quick to Sell, Absent Aftercare

When I bought my kit from them, everything seemed great. Nothing was ever an issue and they were very helpful during the purchase process.
However, once I received the chair and the Batec, the service completely fell apart. The Batec had multiple issues that left me stranded on several occasions. When I contacted the company, I was told the problem must have been caused by me changing the settings, which I had not done. They reset the settings, but the issues continued. I was then asked to provide proof and carry out test runs. Obviously, the last thing I wanted to do was go out with faulty equipment and risk getting stranded again, especially as it’s extremely heavy to push back manually.
Eventually, after about a year, they finally agreed to repair it.
I also tried to arrange new tyres and a service. The engineer told me he would order the forks, but after that there was no communication at all. No updates, no replies, and nothing was ever done.
The aftercare has been disgraceful. I genuinely regret choosing them, because a warranty means nothing if the company refuses to communicate or provide support.

A big purchase - so far, excellent service from the distributor

A big purchase - powered add-on for a manual wheelchair. We did our research on what options are available, watched a fair number of YouTube videos by users and, because it is important to be able to use the chair both with and without the power unit and to travel over considerable distance, decided on the Batec Mini 2 which folds compactly for carrying in the car, on flights, etc.

Batec is a Spanish manufacturer with a sole UK distributor, Cyclone Technologies Ltd. The online reviews for a Cyclone mobility equipment supplier were very patchy but, from our first telephone contact with the office of Cyclone Technologies Ltd through to the Widnes workshop visit to fit the Batec Mini 2 to a lightweight rigid frame wheelchair, our experience was smooth and pleasant.

An extremely knowledgeable representative with first-hand insight into how wheelchairs are used by independent, sporty people, turned up at our SE England home and, within minutes, had disappeared into the distance with our family member en route to a local park. These 2 Batec "cyclists" arrived before our car did and circled the area, finding any hills and rough surfaces to put the Batec Mini 2 through its paces.

We discussed what was needed: the Batec "handcycle" unit, fitting kit and a new pair of wheels with offroad tyres.

For an existing wheelchair, clamps fix the Batec docking bar to the frame. Although online information is available and we are engineers, to validate the warranty, Batec suppliers must use Batec-trained fitters so we were happy to accept the offer of free fitting at Cyclone's Widnes workshop on the next working day (rather than await their engineer's visit to our home a few days later - cost of home delivery and fitting would have been an extra £350).

We felt we were in good hands. The Batec appears to be a first-class product (and looks good) and Cyclone have been supporting it for a long time. Our family member has overcome her resistance to adding powered support when this would be useful. We feel this will provide greater flexibility and enable her to leave behind her car for some regular journeys.

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would.

Last year we ordered a wheelchair for our son Alex through Cyclone Mobility. We relied on their professional advice and measurements, but when the chair arrived it was completely unsafe — so unbalanced that Alex tipped forward face-first three times in just a couple of days. A family friend who works in the mobility industry inspected it and confirmed it had been badly designed and should never have been supplied.

When we raised this with Cyclone, we were first told we’d have to pay to have it fixed, even though it was entirely their error. Only after pushing back did the owner agree to remeasure Alex and order a replacement chair at no extra cost, promising an 8–10 week lead time.

After 11 weeks we had no updates and spent three more weeks chasing them with emails and calls that went unanswered. Eventually we had to contact the manufacturer directly, who told us there were production delays and the chair wouldn’t be ready in time for Alex’s important trip to Poland.

Throughout this period, the Sales Director, Dan, repeatedly failed to return calls or provide information. At one point we were told he was out of the office for a week — only for me to walk into their premises and find him hiding in the warehouse.

After months of dishonesty, poor communication, and total loss of trust, we demanded a full refund. No family should have to fight this hard to get a safe wheelchair for their child.

Absolutely rubbish service

Absolutely rubbish service. I don't recommend them at all. They r just scammer on disabled people, I don't understand how their shop still opened, they made a mistake on my wheelchair order which was delayed 2 months, after it arrives I went to them for checking on the mistake they made, the guy said to me this adjustment worth £800 but will do it for free for you to make it easier for you. Excuse me! You f made a mistake and it's you who to fix it.
Just completely rubbish staff . They have no basic idea about disabled people. But all they want is money.
I don't recommend them at all.

Any spinally injured people do not buy from Cyclone custom made rubbish !

Over priced for poor quality materials and workmanship ship .

They will take your money and they don’t keep you updated .

Also lies about the actual weight thus GMT weights at 12.6 kg
WHEN I WAS TOLD BY THE GREAT TALKER SPENCER THAN IT WOULD WEIGHT MUCH LIGHTER THAN KUSHCAL CHAIR WAS IN .

I brought the so called premium backrest Lie again !
With awkward Velcro straps which again poor quality !
Not to mention !! the Velcro straps which to cushion sits on !!
Just inconvenient having to try and tighten them terribly designed by monkeys !

I now have a curve in spine due to the backrest .

The frame leaves black marks on my kitchen door cupboards so I have to constantly clean them .

No thought or quality has been initiated when manufacturing these p.ss poor chairs !!

NEVER AGAIN WOULD I BUY FROM CYCLONE ALSO THERE GOOGLE REVIEWS ARE NOT TRUE .. IVWAS ASKED BY THE DELIVERY GUY FROM CYCLINE TO GO ON GOOGLE AND RIGHT A REVIEW FOR HIM BUT TEALLY ITS FOR CYCLONE .

AVOID THESE PLEASE THEY ARE GOOD AT TALKING AND LURING YOU IN .
4,0000 is a lot to pay for cheap materials heavy frame and poor workmanship ! And poor finish!

Excellent Service - Thanks

We've got a Batec from them 10 yrs ago. We always go back to them for maintenance and repairs if something wrong or not working. We recently visited them to make repairs for our wheelchair and they did a great job. Lucas their maintenance guy is always and readily available to help us on the day. Thank you too to Terrance for his dedicated support and admin.

Great products, good knowledge, terrible service

As the only outlet for Batec in the UK you don't have much choice other than to buy from Cyclone. Batec is an amazing product, but over the 10 years I've owned one, there have been times I've massively regretted my choice, and it's always because of Cyclone's terrible customer service.

Phonecalls go unanswered, and together with emails - un-replied to. You will never get a service or status update unless you chase them and chase hard. Their organisation is terrible, I've driven across the UK for a service appointment only to find it double booked and all engineers off-site.

My Batec has been returned to me with such slap-dash packaging that the courier refused to deliver it and returned it to Cyclone. Another time, packaged so poorly it arrived broken (Batecs come with standardised packaging from the manufacturer; most of it was missing from the post-repair return I received). The double insult, in this case, was that I was informed post-delivery that the repair had been a simple fix I could have performed myself - slipped Anderson Connection. This was despite me having sent numerous photos to them that they had promised to show to their engineers. They clearly hadn't.

Requests for spare parts, even basic ones, take forever! and often come incomplete, with critical washers etc, missing.

All of this would be almost acceptable if it wasn't for the tone in which customer service is delivered - they really don't seem to care, almost like you are just an annoyance. It sometimes feels like being in a toxic relationship you can't get out of.

I'm giving two stars because, despite the attitude and slapdash service, they have great products, and underneath it all, they do know what they are doing - In terms of sales and engineering. It seems they just don't know how to run a company and provide a service. I'm sure if they didn't have exclusivity over Batec they'd go bust.

Cyclone, if you read this, do better! I don't think that underneath it, this is who you are. Batec, if you read this, please let other companies in the UK sell your product.

Excellent after sales service

We recently visited their offices as we were having an issues latching the chair. Terrance & the engineer were great & very helpful. They replaced something I think my daughter had slightly damaged & adjusted the chair. Also spent a bit of time encouraging a reluctant 16yr old to be more confident using the chair. They also provided us with a printed battery travel certificate Also have just had a follow up call to check everything is OK.

Company cant be worked with . I did leave a negative review but after speaking with again they are willing to work with customers unfortunately I thought they were but not if you speak with Terrance

Customer services diabolical. Have had to update again as thought common sense prevailed billy decent and helpful Terrance not so . (After speaking with company again I must say that they are very helpful made be we didn't get of to a good start . If you work with these guys they seem happy enough to come to a workable solution that best for both ) unfortunately have had to come back to update it again as said spoke with billy positive and seemed to want to help then on a follow call with Terrance all negative with a touch of arrogance. They just will not sell products to customers without insisting on charging a fitting fee and they honestly believe they are only ones capable of fitting their products . Unbelievable that they are not willing as said above I thought they might if Terrance answers phone I would personally hang up as it will be a negative call I believe he is owner of company or manger as always seems to be him saying can't won't and must be

When I ordered from cyclone mobility I…

When I ordered from cyclone mobility I explained my nerve damage. When the rep came round to sell me the chair I was not given the choice of a footplate, nor was I told there were different back rest options; this despite my telling Spencer that 'if I put my feet on these bars, my feet will hurt'.

Sure enough my feet hurt. I eventually got a footplate after numerous phone calls and false dates of arrival. Then my back started aching. I discovered no proper back support, only numerous thick velcro straps; it was these that were digging into my back causing pain.

I phoned Cyclone who directed me to Sunrise medical, who said cyclone needed to give me an assessment. I phoned cyclone back to find they do nor do assessments. It is important to point out that during this conversation I said to Terence 'I told you about my nerve damage', and he replied, 'we are not occupational therapists'.

Cyclone mobility has a gimmick: all of the people working for them have a spinal cord injury; but this does not make them a good company. There is no after sales service, no understanding beyond their own injuries, lack of care.

I would advise not to buy from this company. To me, it seems they just want to sell you a chair and get the money; then have you spend more money on things they should have told you about in the first place.

POOR COMMUNICATION

POOR COMMUNICATION, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered my Batec (after receiving many insistent calls from the sales agent) and paid a substantial deposit of £3,800 in November 2021. I was told then that I would receive it by end of March 2022… Mach came and went. Since then I phoned numerous times to enquire and each time I received a curt, unpleasant unhelpful answer: they either didn’t know or I should get it in about a month. Not once was I called with an update, I had to phone myself each time. The last time I phoned I was told “It’s already here”… would they have not phoned me if I hadn’t called them? Would I still be waiting? We arranged a date for delivery and the only once they called me was to tell me they couldn’t make it but they would call me back with another date… They didn’t. I eventually called back and then they said that it was me who was supposed to call them back with a date, that they were waiting for my call and that they could make it on the original date… I was speechless. I eventually got my Batec in October 2022, almost a year after paying my deposit. They were quick to get my money but not so quick at communicating with me. I wrote a letter of complaint but predictably never heard back. Will be getting my next wheelchair attachment from their competitors.

Some initial problems and a battery issue but everything came good in the end.

I had a few issues with the poor set up but the Company came good in the end thanks to the kindness and efforts of Spencer who is a real asset to their Company. Had a problem with the Larger Capacity Battery which was a known faulty batch but Batec decided not to recall them unless the customer reported problems. If anyone has the larger battery and is experiencing loss of power and shutdowns I would get it exchanged without delay otherwise you’ll be outside of warranty. Other than the battery problem I’m delighted with the Mini 2 and I’m just waiting on delivery of a Scrambler to make me even more mobile over rough terrain.

I have bought several mobility products…

I have bought several mobility products from these guys over the years and spent many thousands of pounds. The products they offer are generally top quality items, which may possibly be a tad more expensive that competitors, but they certainly have better build quality and longevity. I have found the company itself is fantastic for over the phone enquiries and sales, but anything more complex or that is communicated by email just gets lost in the ether. I have had a few issues with broken parts (self inflicted mainly) and delivery problems, and the biggest issue is that you are not kept informed of progress. Have learnt to source parts and the like elsewhere for things that can be sourced elsewhere, because you just don't know when they'll get the parts in - they just don't tell you. This leads you to chase them every few weeks, and get generally snotty conversations about them not hearing from suppliers, or they are busy. Can't really recommend them, because of this, but they are the sole UK retailer for a lot of the items they sell, so you don't have much option. If you are listening Cyclone, you need to improve your customer service/liaison and keep us informed - generally we are understanding, it's the void that pisses people off.
