What a fantastic tour
What a fantastic tour! Our tour guide Colin was amazing. He kept us on time, knew the best photo ops, and always had a recommendation for good places to eat. His upbeat attitude and knowledge of the area made for a great 3 days. And the smaller group size felt more personal. I'd definitely book another tour.

My recommendation to go on this tour
Our host Big AL was very informative and we got many stops during the tour to click pictures of the lovely highlands. The trip was nicely timed and it is totally worth it.

What a great day!
Our group of 5 had a great time on our Oban / Western Highlands Tour, and Johnny was an amazing guide! This is a great way to get into the country and see some key sights, with everything planned out for you. We lucked out with a beautiful, sunny day and the landscape was breathtaking. There are several stops where you are able take photos and a couple of lengthier stops in town. We also saw Highland Coos at Inveraray Castle! The town of Oban is charming and I would have liked to have spent a little more time there, but otherwise everything was great! We did not have the most talkative tour, but our group kept Johnny engaged and he was full of great tips, facts ,and jokes! Highly recommend this tour!

We had a fantastic day on our Stirling tour with Discover Scotland. Harry was our guide and he was friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining throughout the day. He shared plenty of interesting history and stories along the way without it ever feeling like information overload.
The tour itself was really enjoyable and a great way to see more of Scotland in a single day. Everything felt well organised and relaxed, with a good balance between guided information and time to explore.

The whole experience was wonderful

Five tour with Brian
Our tour hide Brian was very involved and showed us beautiful places in Scotland. He told us a lot about history and folk stories, also he did mention a lot of places which were used as filming decorations in various films and showed us them. That was very cool!
He also payed attention to our preferences and that made the whole atmosphere the best

Cold and devastating handling of a family emergency
We are absolutely devastated by our experience with Discover Scotland Tours. We had booked the Isle of Skye, Highlands & Loch Ness 3 Day Tour for two people as part of a special overseas trip, but had to cancel when our father was unexpectedly emergency admitted to hospital. We emailed the company on 29 August, as soon as we knew we could no longer travel. They say they cannot locate that original email, and when we followed up, we were told that because it was technically 13 days before the tour rather than 14, we were not entitled to a refund. We understand that companies have policies, but the complete lack of compassion or discretion in response to a sudden and devastating family emergency was deeply upsetting.
We did not cancel because we changed our minds — we had no choice but to cancel because our father was in hospital. Yet we were treated as a booking reference rather than people experiencing an extremely distressing situation. The response was cold, procedural and focused entirely on the technical deadline, with no meaningful consideration of the circumstances. It has left us feeling that once Discover Scotland Tours has your money, your individual circumstances and experience simply do not matter. We sincerely hope they reconsider and show some compassion.

We are sorry to read your review and as we have explained in our previous email, we have every sympathy for the circumstances that have resulted in you being unable to travel.
We would however, like to clarify some important points. We have no record of your initial email in our system. This was still the case after our IT department checked our server and back end too. The forwarded copy you provided confirms that your cancellation request was sent on 29 August for a tour departing on 11 September. Therefore, even accepting the date of your original email, the booking was already within the non-refundable cancellation period. The missing email has had no bearing on the outcome.
Our cancellation terms are not in place simply to protect “lost revenue” (as detailed in your Google review). Multi-day tours involve commitments made well in advance, including accommodation reserved with independent providers which may remain payable by us following a late cancellation. Seats that are also held for passengers (particularly on a fully booked departure such as this one), become increasingly difficult to resell at short notice. This is why multi-day tours have different cancellation terms from our one-day tours.
This is no difference in principle from other areas of the travel industry where a non-refundable flight/rail ticket or other travel arrangement does not automatically become refundable because unforeseen personal circumstances prevent someone from travelling. This is precisely why we strongly recommend appropriate travel insurance and we have offered to provide any documentation required to assist with a claim.
We were particularly saddened by the suggestion that we have treated you as “simply a booking reference and a lost revenue opportunity” and that we should “demonstrate some humanity” (again as detailed in your Google review). Being unable to provide the resolution someone understandably wants is not the same as being without compassion for their circumstances. We are a small, family-owned and operated company and care greatly about the people who choose to travel with us.
We are also disappointed that two one-star reviews were posted while we were still corresponding with you and before we had the opportunity to fully respond and explain the reasons behind our position. Customers are absolutely entitled to share their experiences, but the possibility of adverse reviews cannot influence whether we apply or waive our agreed booking conditions.
Our offer to assist with any documentation required for your travel insurance remains open. We are very sorry that you are unable to make your planned trip to Scotland and wish your father a good recovery.

Brilliant Guide!
If you're thinking about booking a Highland tour, look no further. The 3-day Isle of Skye and Highlands tour was absolutely wonderful. Our guide and driver, Stuart, was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, which made the whole experience incredibly enjoyable. Everything was well-organized, the minibus was comfy and well-maintained, and even the accommodation they booked for us was top-notch. Highly recommend it.

Fantastic guide and unforgettable memory
Fantastic guide – Big Al! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Alan, or “Big Al”, was a fantastic tour guide and genuinely one of the best I’ve had. He was superb, extremely knowledgeable, and made the whole journey so much more enjoyable.
What really stood out was how he constantly added interesting facts, stories, and little details throughout the route. It never felt like we were simply travelling from one stop to another — there was always something interesting and worthwhile to learn.
The timing and planning of the tour were also excellent. The stops were very well spread out, giving us enough time to enjoy each location without feeling rushed. The timing was especially perfect for seeing the steam train passing across the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
This isn’t my first Highland tour, so I’ve experienced a few different guides, and Big Al definitely ranks among the very best. In fact, I feel compelled to write this 5-star review before I’ve even finished the tour — I’m writing this on the way back! That’s how impressed I’ve been with the experience.
Thank you, Big Al, for making the trip such a memorable one. Highly recommended!
