Absolutely appalling customer service
Absolutely appalling customer service. I was upsold an upgraded car, which I paid for - only to find out during one of the hottest heatwave weekends of the year, the A/C was broken. I contacted immediately and had to follow up multiple times. and did not receive any response for two months only to be told there was no issue. Not even an apology. I will never book with them again.

Inconsistent and invasive documentation process – rental could not proceed
Attempted to rent a vehicle for my partner and the process became unworkable due to inconsistent and escalating documentation requirements.
We were asked to provide unusually invasive documents (including bank statements and travel information), which is not standard in my experience with major international rental providers.
After declining Drivalia’s insurance, we provided valid third-party cover as requested. This was initially accepted, but we were then asked for additional certification—effectively changing the requirement mid-process.
At that point, the process became circular and unclear, and the rental could not proceed.
Separately, the team was unable to efficiently cancel the booking, adding further friction.
Overall, this felt like a lack of clear internal policy and poor customer handling. I would strongly recommend clarifying all documentation requirements upfront before relying on this provider.
Recommend STAY AWAY
UPDATE:
Thank you for the response.
I have already contacted Drivalia directly and received a formal written reply. In that response, Drivalia acknowledged a “misalignment” between the Expedia booking process and your collection requirements.
That is precisely the issue: key documentation and insurance requirements were not made clear upfront, and the rental was ultimately refused despite attempts to comply.
My concern is not the existence of checks, but the lack of transparency and the changing requirements during the process.

Money Grabbing
The car was perfect. However, their Ts & Cs are not explained at all at the point of collection. If you do get a parking or speeding ticket, standby by to be ripped off £60.00 some 2 months later for them to push a computer button giving your details to the relevant people. Or in my case an erroneous £60 and a penny.
Sharp practices? Most definitely.
Money grabbing? Most definitely.
Would I use them again? NO!!
