I approached driversdomain with an issue that has crept up on me over the last 10 years in relation to motorway driving, I can drive on motorways but find them extremely scary and stressful places. I have driven for many years on motorways both in the UK and abroad and other than an acccident about 30 years ago had never had a problem. The cuirrent problem manifests itself in panic attacks, tenseness through my arms and shoulders and a desire to come off. I now find it difficult to come out of lane one to overtake a slow vehicle and I have known myself getting slower and slower.
I descibed a time to David Watkins (my instructor), when, about 15 years ago, I found myself inadvertently driving well in excess of the UK speed limit so know this issue is recent.
I found David to be knowlegable and emapathetic and I feel after two days that most aspects of my day to day urban and rural driving have benefited from my time with him.
However, I feel both of us would acknowledge that the two days did little to address my underlying problem which is psychological in nature. David did however make me question this and at his suggestion, I have now booked a session with an hypnotherapist to explore this option further.

I had two half-day sessions with Chris and got a lot of great tips from him and useful practice in. He matched the pace well with my needs and helped me feel relaxed to enjoy the sessions and build confidence in the areas I needed (mainly motorway refresher practice). It was great to have these types of lessons geared to drivers like me who have a license but needed extra practice and confidence after years of not driving. Since the classes I've been able to keep up the practice on my own and feel it's made a difference in helping me to make the journeys that I would have put off before. I recommend these classes for people who want to take the plunge to get back into driving and to have an experienced instructor who is happy to teach you in your own car.

I contacted Drivers Domain because I had a near miss on the road with an HGV and it had knocked my confidence. I had started to avoid driving more and more and hated driving passengers. All of this had become a problem because I need to be able to drive for work. I am an experienced driver and have driven for nearly 40 years, but had started to find the speed on motorways and other people's driving, sometimes dangerous. (especially with more traffic post covid)
I had 3 sessions with Dori who was just great. She called me before my first session to discuss my concerns and aims, was very calm and made me feel at ease despite my nervousness. Her suggestions and revue of my driving has helped me to identify situations where I can be more positive and avoid other driver's mistakes. She stressed the need to maintain progress on the road where possible and to keep up with the general speed of traffic when it's safe to do so, taking driving conditions into consideration. She helped me to accelerate out of potential hazards rather than become involved, and plan more ahead. Dori suggested that I take more breaks on a journey, not to worry or focus on the car tailgating me, but to leave more space in front. We worked at how to drive when you see a car joining a dual carriageway from short slip road and motorway driving. We also did country roads and town driving. Dori was informative, pointing out road signs, speed, things to be more aware of and how to use the technology in the car better. Even if I hadn't had any anxiety with driving, it was good to have had a revue of my driving with feedback and reports after each session. I am still anxious but Dori has given me confidence and things to practise going forwards and I know avoidance is not helpful. I recommend everyone to do this, especially with Dori. Excellent full day advanced driving course. Rob was prompt in his replies every time I have communicated with him. He was very supportive and accommodating with my urgent needs. After a 3 hour driving lesson with Chris Lamport in my new Motorhome - I finished my lesson absolutely buzzing - with my confidence lifted - this was followed up with a detailed report - confirming I have the abilities but also some helpful recommendations - Chris was extremely experienced professional and knowledgeable and the lesson was very competitively priced for such invaluable tuition.

This was an excellent 3-hour course delivered by an experienced and empathetic driving expert. Duncan gave me a very useful analysis of my driving style, explaining where I could improve my concentration, focus, speed and hazard awareness. His tips were practical and I got to try them out in the last section of the course.

My 18 year old son has just passed his driving test and I was keen for him to gain some experience with motorway driving, along with improving his confidence and building some advanced driving skills. I also wanted to feel less nervous about him driving by himself so found Drivers Domain online and am so glad that I did. I spoke to Caron about the young/new drivers course and she was very understanding and reassuring that this would provide my son with the skills and knowledge to promote safe driving. Fatima was the tutor in our area and she was absolutely amazing from start to finish! She got in touch with me before the course to discuss what we wanted to achieve and to understand more about my son. He had three 3.5 hour sessions with Fatima and she gradually built up his confidence by taking him to the places he will be going daily, such as college and work, as well as introducing motorways and driving at higher speeds. In a short space of time, my son has gone from being slightly nervous of motorway driving to feeling confident in handling them, he understands the need to think further ahead and has learnt some valuable defensive driving techniques. Fatima was such a friendly, patient and encouraging tutor, and she kept me fully informed about his progress after each session. My son found the sessions really worthwhile and I’ve lost that sick feeling in my stomach every time my son goes out on his own! I would say this is an invaluable course for new drivers and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you so much!

Steve gathered a huge amount of information from watching me drive for a relatively short period. He was broke this down and gave me simple, manageable areas to focus on that made a difference to my experience of driving right away.
When I was unable to put one of his instructions into practice he found another way of overcoming the problem. I don’t think he would have been able to do this if he hadn’t been able to put himself in my position and work out where the difficulty lay.
Perhaps most importantly of all, he was a calm and reassuring presence in the car, which not only lessened my nervousness, but made it easier to concentrate on and understand his instructions.
I would recommend him to anyone who has lost confidence in their driving and needs help to rediscover skills they may have lost over time.

I signed up for the Half Day course to help with nerves of driving my Mobile Home. Having driven nothing bigger than a car the leap to a motor home seemed huge!! I am usually a confident driver but after following a dream from my bucket list to have adventures on the road with my four legged friends I lost my nerve. I had a slight accident on my own drive and could not muster the courage to head to the road. A call to Drivers Domain and a chat with Caron who gave me courage to book the Half Day lesson.

Chris Lamport was amazing and calmed my nerves at once by driving my Van to a place where he could give me the courage I needed. Before you knew it i was driving on dual carriage ways, through towns and country lanes. We had a giggle reverse parking in tight spots and he used his calm knowledge to empower me.
Thanks to Chris I can now see the open road ahead of me at last and the start of adventures

My experience was fantastic with Chris Lamport. I signed up to the day course as I had an extreme fear with driving on the motorway after having kids. Chris was amazing and made me feel calm and taught me so many ways of feeling safe whilst driving. I've come away feeling confident and eager to get on the motorway. I would totally recommend booking in with Chris specifically as he makes you feel good about yourself driving and encourages you all the way through. He also doesn't hold back when providing criticism but I appreciate that alot. Definitely sign up if you want to get back on the motorway!

I contacted Drivers Domain in a bid to tackle my driving anxiety. I have been driving for many years but only in my comfort zone. My final push was when my 13 year old asked me to take him somewhere for the day and I just couldn't do it. I booked two half days after speaking a very helpful lady named Caron Lawrence. My Instructor was Steve Dent. Steve and I drove on fast roads, country roads, through the city center and on the motorway. We took regular breaks where Steve and I discussed aspects of my driving that needed tweaking and he gave me loads of advice. Steve is patient, understanding and a brilliant instructor whom I would recommend.

I had a mornings tuition with Nick and it was so worthwhile. I just needed a boost in confidence in driving our new Motorhome and it was just what I needed. Nick asked me about the areas that I wanted to cover, specifically reversing, parking and dealing with narrow country lanes. I learnt so many good pointers and tips and I feel so much more confident driving our van. Thank you so much Nick!
