eBid is a stress free environment for casual internet buying and selling. It is easy to sign up, buy and sell. All you need is a paypal account. I buy and sell vinyl records, maps, books, postcards, stamps and matchbooks.

Ebid Requested ILLEGAL PERSONAL INFORMATION from a Gold Member AFTER 1 1/2 years as a member. Blocked my 2 stores and FASELY claim I have 0 for sale , when there are over 200 for sale and 100% POSITIVE
feedback.

Never received item, seller won't respond. Worst website ever, will never go on this garbage site again

I have been a seller on Ebid for 11 years. The listing experience is very smooth. If you attend to your stores on a regular basis, you will have sales. Not as many sales as on eBay, but not half the hassle and the costs are nominal. My experience has been that if you get out of it what you put into it. Put as much information into your ads as possible and it pays off.

Buying

Not too big a choice of sellers because there is low public brand awareness of eBid. This is good for buyers because in auctions there is little to no competition from other potential buyers and so there are genuine bargains to be had.

Because of the lack of advertising, you tend to stumble across eBid, rather than have it brought to your attention, and so many sellers choose to use the ‘buy it now’ option and leave their listings up for prolonged periods of time. Some areas of selling across all selling sites have highly dynamic pricing ( ie it changes a lot with trends, fashions, seasons, investment demand etc ) some of the eBid long term fixed price listings can appear very, very, cheap if the seller has neglected to maintain their listings and re-priced following prevailing pricing trends

A major failing is the lack of a basket system, allowing multiple purchases to be paid for together.

The eBid site is in many respects a much better product than eBay or Etsy because the search engine is as sophisticated as you choose to select, right down to single nation searches and a lot more besides, way better than eBay. The search engine actually does return what you are searching for and the site is not subject to constant change and turmoil.

Selling

As a seller the selling deal is a good one, with the site covering similar selling areas to eBay, the only other site to do this. Selling is way, way cheaper than other selling sites and, as any individual seller allows, Paypal and other money processing systems may be used to buy and Paypal may be used by the seller for all selling proceses. There is no eBid money processing system, and so any delay is by Paypal or the chosen money processor.

Although there is some international presence major players are missing such as Finland, Iceland, Poland, Hungary, Chez Republic, (Ukraine – when back with us), Lituania, China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea.These are all significant selling and buying markets and their lack of presence significantly limits the sales / buying opportunities.

A number of eBay sellers have either wholly transferred to eBid, or parallel list on eBid. However a significant number of eBid sellers are unhappy about the lack of progress in developing the site, especially changing the wholly Americanised categories

BUT, and this is a Very Big ‘B U T’, the owners of eBid flatly refuse to advertise the site. As such there is exceptionally low public awareness of the brand and exceptionally low sales, to the point that the site does not publish year by year sales or total value of sales for a year. The owners are however keen to publish the number of listings !

Read the forums associated directly to eBid you will see numbers of sellers requesting significant advertising to boost their sales. Don’t be sidetracked by sellers complaining that they are not making any money because they are selling an item too cheaply (usually stamps for a few pence), the usual consequence of pricing too cheaply in a race to the lowest price on the site.

In the meantime you can see the tooth-marks of desperation with entrepreneurs alternatively making their money by selling car stickers to encourage greater site publicity (at one time the demand call was for branded packing tape which in reality is not a very effective method of marketing). Unless the car stickers are at the price where they can be given away by the 10,000’s and have a site address written on the sticker, it is unlikely that 500 or less stickers in the visible public space will make the slightest difference to eBid brand awareness. Far better that a Youtube influencer picks up on the site and heavily promotes it, as it is more likely to get results than any number of stickers on any number of cars

Feedback is an issue for sellers, like other sites. However, eBid, buyers are invited, somehow, to leave comments on Trustpilot (see the other comments here on trust pilot ). The buyer, believes they have left eBid feedback for the seller so does not leave feedback on eBid. This mismatched process also accounts for the high rating of eBid in Trustpilot.

joined them and bought seller+. 221 items listed and not sold a single item in 3 months. The site is only interested in making its money advertising and selling you sellers+. they don't care about there sellers and they do not advertise there platform. They would not refund me my money so i went to another platform and although they charge more i did sell 53 of those same items in 1 month. This site has so much potential and its wasted by lazy owners who dont put in the effort to make it a sucess.

I have been a Lifetime Member for about 5 years and have not sold very much (It's not cost me much either though) BUT this site has the potential to be a serious alternative to EBAY PROVIDED people start to use it. I have recently transferred copies of all my EBAY listings as I don't like the idea of the EBAY MANAGED Accounts and see that company attempting to consolidate their Monopoly position. WE NEED EBID to succeed.

Total scam. Waste of time and money. Stick to ebay.

trust reviews of ebid are very confusing since there are two trust review sites one is positive and the other is negative,the facts are Ebid is not an alternative to any of the other e commerce sites sales are very low the traffic is very low many people who paid £49 for life membership report no sales,been a £49 member for 13 years my sales are less than one per year,Ebid has gained a lot of money from lifetime membership,best advice don t go there you will be unlucky ,I think persons are manipulating the positive reviews can trust pilot really know if the positive reviews are authentic how can two trust pilot review sites have such different results ? its a question that trust pilot needs to resolve some one did a search for ebid at companies house its listed capital is a mere £160k and they do not repeat do not have any employees its really run by 1 or 2 directors its very very small fry indeed and not the big company it pretends to be ebid payment gateway used to be PPPAY well no longer do a search you will find pppay registered in Gibralter !!! late returns proposal to strike off it sounds murky is ebid a shoestring company ? well it sure does sound like one

Also baffled by good reviews. Not one sale since started March 2019 and my prices are very low compared to my ebay shop (18,500+ @ 100% feedback - very experienced/reputable seller.) I believed the blurb of 'ebid vs ebay' and paid the £50 subscription for lifetime free listings. No activity at all so took all the listings down except two and just been charged £5 because apparently I put them on the featured page??? uuh??? Complete waste of £55 and times are already tough/slow. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Don't be tempted to pay for using this site. There are very few items for sale compared to Ebay and the sellers appear extremely expensive compared to other sites. I tried searching for quite common items and gave up after continually getting negative searches.

I'M ACTUALLY FAIRLY NEUTRAL ABOUT EBID RIGHT NOW, I HAVE BEEN LISTING ITEMS FOR A FEW MONTHS, I'VE SOLD NONE, BUT I HAVE 8000+ SIMILAR SALES ON EBAY ! I FINALLY FOUND SOMETHING I WANTED TO BUY IN THE SPORTS CARDS CATEGORY AND THAT TRANSACTION WAS JUST AS GOOD AS ANY I'VE HAD ON EBAY ! EVENTUALLY TO COMPETE WITH EBAY, THEY WILL NEED SOME SORT OF LIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I'VE BEEN FIGURING THINGS OUT, BUT SOME STUFF I'M NOT SURE ON AND IT'S UNCLEAR ON THE BEST PATH TO TAKE AT TIMES, BUT AS I SAID, IT'S AN OK SITE, I'M WORKING WITH IT SO FAR AND THE PROS ARE, THE RATES / FEES ARE BETTER THAN EBAYS AND THEY DON'T GO DELETING YOUR LISTINGS IF THEY'RE DORMANT FOR 60 DAYS, LIKE EBAY, WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE ! I have been on eBid for a year now. I paid for the full membership with promised free t shirt included-never got the shirt and all emails regarding it were ignored. Sold 3 things in a year. Poorly constructed website with no decent marketing. The mobile app is even worse as you have to keep searching subsections to find a basic item. Don't waste your time or money. Out of 3 purchases I made: 2 out of 3 sellers said they couldn't find the advertised item and it took me weeks to get a refund. If anything goes wrong you are on your own. If you complain or comment anywhere the comments are removed and you are 'deactivated' without reason or due notice. The site states ex eBayers are coming to them in droves. I think not...or sales would reflect differently. The same item I listed on eBid, not sold in 12 months, sold on eBay in 2 days. Don't waste your time or money.

Great for selling, but you do need to do a bit more self marketing than on other auction sites. eBid keep their fees low partly by not spending millions on TV ads. The lower fees mean you can under cut other sites when listing, so even though the item may sell for a bit less you can end up with a bit more in your pocket. This should be a win win for both buyers and sellers. But unfortunately the footfall is lower than on eBay. Buying can be a little harder as some sellers seem to charge higher amounts for some reason - which can drive customers away for all sellers. Never the less, I include eBid in my searches when looking for items and if less or equal to other sites [and the seller has reasonable feedback] will choose eBid first.

This bunch of no-hope con merchants is the biggest joke on the internet! I had an account with them for about six months, listed over 300 items and sold NOTHING. They did nothing to help or promote my items and removed my questions/comments from their sellers forums for being in breach of the conditions of use!...

I eventually cancelled my account through the proper channels, but they still kept taking the monthly fee! It took me another couple of months to get them to (a) stop robbing me and (b) to refund every penny they'd taken illegitimately.

If it were possible I'd give ebid a minus rating...

My advice to anybody thinking of selling with this lot is to AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

I've joined eBid several years ago and brought my transaction numbers from eBay, I had 367 transactions on eBay at the time. I am currently at almost 700 transactions on eBay with 100% customer satisfaction rating. Every item I have listed on eBay I have also listed on eBid with a lower price. I have not sold one item on eBid since joining and paying the 50 something dollar fee. Is this scam city????
