Great CU. Good luck getting a loan, though.

I've had a great experience with GNCU overall. Good banking. Safety deposit box. Wonderful. My only issue is your credit has to be so stupid pristine to have them help you at all. I don't have 800, but I'm not sinking like the Titanic either. Good luck if you even want a $500 loan out of these people.

Moving my money elsewhere

I went in the other day and waited in line for my turn. There were three or four people ahead of me and three teller stations were open. One teller had a woman sitting at her station as I entered, and another one had a man at her station. The third teller helped the people in line. When it was my turn, I went up with a few things to accomplish. I had to sign for a new account that I had opened online, and then I was going to make a withdrawal. A woman (I later learned she's a "banker" named Karina [sp?]) came out of her office and approached my teller. She never acknowledged me with eye contact or verbally; she simply spoke to the teller as I weren't there. She told the teller (who was efficient and pleasant), "You'll have to send her over there; there's a line." Indeed there were people waiting, but I must note that neither the woman nor the man who were still at the other two stations had their transactions interrupted or were told to move on. The teller told me Karina would help me and directed me toward the office, but instead of helping me, she walked over and started helping the teller at whose station the man was. I waited a couple of minutes and then excused myself, saying that she said she would help me. She said I'd have to wait a few minutes. I told her I had already waited. She said in a VERY condescending manner: "Ma'am, you just sat down." I left and went to the Vista branch, 10 miles away, so an extra 20 miles to my trip, where another pleasant and efficient teller completed what I needed done. When I called to complain, it took two days for someone to get back to me, and this person made efforts to smooth over what Karina had done. I know that nothing is going to happen to this rude employee, but I am closing my accounts (I had five) and moving them to another institution. While no one has ever been so rude before, the fact that they employ one person who has such poor customer service skills has turned me away.

Slimy business practices

I hate this bank. They always have some new fee I didnt know about. They value the word of businesses over the people. Ive had several occassions where either a cellphone company or some automatic payments were charging me without my okay. After i said to stop charging me, tht i didnt want to do business with them, they took my money anyway. The fight went on for 2 months each instance. By second monthly charge and losing money, i had to cancel the card and get a new one.im on my 4th card in 9 months. The bank swears they have solutions,has a card for diff. legal dept.'s, but when you actually talk to them, they say theres nothing they can do. They cant stop payment for that one specific company because of some bs reason. But its the same NO MATTER what other company im having trouble with. Then theres the really HIGH overdraft fees. Also i found out too late they only accept a special type of direct deposit for getting the monthly fee waived. When the pandemic started to crush me financially, i had to deposit my money daily for a while instead of weekly. I had no idea it mattered. I just thought ANY money direct deposited would be ok. Its what i was told. Anyway they didnt count all the money i poured into it. They gave some dumba** reason which didnt make sense, but i had to pay the monthly fee which is normally waived. Which in essence makes it harder on a person than necessary. I mean, i put the $1500 minimum every month so i just dont understand it. They have slimy business practices. This bank really does get rich off its customers. And they keep businesses happy. But not customers. At least, not one struggling to make ends meet like me.
