Booked for a 50th birthday weekend away…

Booked for a 50th birthday weekend away to attend the Derby at Epsom. The hotel contacted me and cancelled the room over 2 weeks later, after we had presented the gift to our friend for his birthday. Told us they shouldn’t have accepted the booking. This left us stuck and have now had to pay significantly more for a hotel. Really upset by this experience, it seems their booking system does not work!

Poor restaurant food

Nice beds. Small rooms.
Restaurant food not good.
Not sure if chef was ill and so someone else was cooking…. But couldn’t believe poor standard of food served.
The sauces were over powering. The meat/fish overcooked. Flavour combinations didn’t work.
Service overall in the hotel good, but terrible service in the restaurant… wrong food served, waited 40 mins for drinks to be served, in a relatively empty restaurant. Duty manager deleted food bill for night, so recognition of how bad it was!
Unfortunate that one bad waiter can spoil our experience of this hotel.

Wedding day 3rd August 2025

I was lucky to have my wedding at Hartsfield Manor on 3rd August it was an amazing day in a beautiful hotel , with brilliant staff.
Ishika was fantastic and knew what we wanted without us having to say, she was just the best and we wouldn't have had such a great day without her.
The rooms we were married in were beautiful, decorated way beyond my dreams, the dressing room is enormous and we were given endless supply of tea and coffee, even brought breakfast up to us!
We couldn't have the honeymoon suite as the bride the night before left it in an unusable state!! However Ishika swept into action and arranged another stunning room for us.
The food was fantastic and so much of it, all of my guests had nothing but good things to say about Hartsfield Manor and the staff here.
My only negative was we had to leave!

Disappointing

We had afternoon tea today & our experience was very disappointing.
It was a birthday gift from my daughter & I was looking forward to it.
The property and surrounding was pictureious and beautiful, we got exited before we entered the manor.
Reception greeting wasn't welcoming to match the surrounding. We were dumped into a lounge which wasn't that good, sofas were uncomfortable and the table was made out of a puffy. Than a gentleman in a tie came, very rudely and loudly asked do you have a voucher? Does it include fizz? Ensuring other guest in the room hear about it. I showed him voucher on my mobile, again loudly declared it does include fizz. At this point I felt embarrassed and humiliated by the tone & his posture as it was a social security handout. Anyway he came back minutes later with 2 glasses of white wine. My husband asked does it have alcohol, he responded yes. We replied we don't want alcoholic drinks, do you have any non alcoholic? He replied no, and took away the drinks displaying attitude, didn't offer any alternative or courtesy. Ten minutes later he brought the tea literally dumped it in front of us. Pastries and sandwiches were ok but the tea was cold and weak.
Over all experience was very disappointing. Will not recommend to anyone.

Awful Rude Condescending Treatment

We booked a rare family meet-up, as we live several hundred miles apart, and chose this hotel for a pre-New Year’s afternoon tea. Our group consisted of 8 people (4 adults and 4 children, with the youngest being just 1 year old). When booking, we made it clear that we would only order a few adult afternoon teas and a couple of children’s teas, as two of the children were under 3 years old (with one being on baby milk and food). Also, one of the members was on a medicated fast diet on the day.

Upon being seated, we placed our order. However, the male manager on duty delivered x6 adult afternoon teas, despite there being only x4 adults in our group.

We immediately explained that this was not what we ordered. He left to check the details, leaving us waiting at the table without touching any of the food or drink. After 10 minutes, we had to request his return. When he did come back, we reiterated that this was not our order and emphasized that we had not touched anything, as we did not want to be charged for food we hadn’t ordered. His response was, “Don’t worry, you can eat it; we’ll sort out the misunderstanding later.”

Trusting his assurance, we began eating. However, halfway through the meal—having only consumed about 40% of the food—we started to feel uneasy about his intentions. We approached him again and asked to settle the bill. That’s when the situation took a turn for the worse. The manager, Mohamed, was shockingly rude and dismissive. He claimed, “You booked online for six people, so you MUST pay for six adult teas,” despite being fully aware that we had young children, including a baby. He even made an offensive remark: “You look rich, so you can afford it.”

We were horrified by his behavior and demanded an apology in his statement - as such comments were entirely unacceptable. This was not about the money—it was about principle and fairness. His response was to give us an ultimatum: either pay for everything or leave without paying anything, implying we were freeloaders. We made it clear that we are not the kind of people to leave a venue without paying, as we believe in acting with integrity.

In the end, we paid for six adult teas, even though we had only ordered four. Mohamed begrudgingly removed two children’s teas from the bill—teas that were never ordered for our 1- and 3-year-old children.

The entire experience was soured by his unprofessionalism and lack of basic customer service. This level of rudeness and disrespect is entirely unacceptable, and it left us deeply disappointed with what should have been a special family occasion.

Mohamed needs further training and learn to treat the hotel customers with respect and decorum- his lack in delivery for saying to a customer “you look rick so you can afford it” is utterly disgraceful!

A dreadful experience

I stayed at the hotel for one night. I had been travelling since 5am on the night that I stayed. I had some food in the bar and went to my room just before 9pm. When I turned back the duvet to get into bed I found a creature squashed on the inside of the duvet cover. It was disgusting! I tried calling reception but there was no answer so I left a message. I moved the dirty duvet off the bed an covered myself with a dressing gown and went to sleep.i was surprised by a call back from reception and when I explained the issue I was passed to the manager of the hotel. He did offer to change my room but I explained that I was very tired and didn’t want the upheaval of moving rooms. He then offered me a free drink, to which I obviously refused as I was actually asleep when I received the call. He got quite agitated. And when I suggested the this was disgusting and dirty he accused me of putting the creature there myself in a bid to gain compensation. I was obviously appalled at his attitude and ended the call. I have never been so insulted at the accusation and the attempt to deflect responsibility for what was a clear case that the bedding was dirty and hadn’t been changed since the last person left the room. I have stayed in hotels al over the country and the world and I don’t think I have ever incurred such an incident and such a complete lack of respect for the customer. We all know the cleanliness and hygiene is key to avoiding the passing os viruses and diseases, so at a time when COVID is on the increase again I would be very wary of staying in this hotel. I know the hotel is very often well under capacity and I am guessing that they are cutting corners with their costs wherever possible. I do have photographic evidence of the duvet and the squashed creature. I would advise caution before selecting this hotel, cheaper, is not necessarily the best option.

The Oliver’s wedding.

Well, what a wonderful place, having just returned from the Oliver’s wedding and a couple of nights stay I would just like to say what a wonderful place it is. But more to the point I must stress how brilliant the staff are, I simply can’t fault them, absolutely amazing, thank you. My room was perfect, clean and served the purpose exactly as were my needs. The food was great, delicious and ample. The venue really is stunning.
Thank you so much for what will now be a life long beautiful memory.

Magic of the Manor

Having viewed roughly 15 venues in total and never actually wanting to have our reception at Hartsfield, because my Husband used to work there, it has a special kind of magic, that I just fell in love with it when attending a wedding fair and never looked back. Three months after getting engaged we booked Hartsfield and never had a single doubt that it wasn’t the right place to celebrate our special day. If you’ve seen it, you’ll know how beautiful it is, and if not, you need to view it. The rooms were perfect for what we wanted and planned for our wedding, we booked the entire venue out as exclusive use, which made the day even more special, because it felt like it was all ours! Bethany was amazing from start to finish, she deserves employee of the month every time, she was always on hand to help with queries and always tried to suggest the best option for us, we had a lot of questions, which she always answered. Having got to know us for over two years, she knew what we wanted for our special day and did all she could to achieve that. We actually miss not being in contact with her now, because she felt like more of a friend than our wedding co-ordinator. She did so much organising that we never got involved with, and probably doesn’t get the recognition she deserves. We loved our day, and stayed an extra night to savour the occasion and were able to stay in the honeymoon suite, which is stunning and so spacious. The staff members that we got to know over the two years were so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much. Hartsfield was special to us before we got married there, and it’s even more special now, it’s definitely a hidden gem with beautiful views. You’ll not be disappointed if you book your wedding at Hartsfield, or booked anything there for that matter. We’ve had such a positive experience.

Equidistant from Worcester, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Cheltenham, this location is the perfect blend of tranquillity and beauty, making it an ideal destination for anyone looking to explore the Cotswolds, Worcestershire and the Malvern Hills, which are some of the most picturesque parts of the United Kingdom.
