Poor customer support

Poor customer support. Unhelpful staff, and arrogant. They are holding your money for no particular reason, and you are not able to do anything about it. When you complain they say, yes it's everything by the law but it's against our internal policy. So basically they are putting themselves above the law. If you can avoid them, do so and do yourself a favor, save yourself time and money.

The Bank is happy to have a Foreigner…

The Bank is happy to have a Foreigner to get salary paid via them as they can make some money of you But don't ask for any service's like a loan or credit card as it seems to be rejected even if you been a customer for 6 years. I believe writing this review won't change their attitude to EU citizens using their services

the security of this bank leaves something to be desired I often get scammed even when changing my card, the employees, not to say racist, are not very available when it comes to the black gender and they are not at all responsive in resolving problems

the worst bank to use

the worst bank to use, they don't get in touch, they don't respond to emails, 5 days after submitting an application they discover that there are not enough documents and leave for the weekend, I don't advise doing business with them, you will lose a lot of time and money as a result, terrible service, the worst that I have seen

It’s verry bad they don’t event belle to open account with my new contrak in Columbia they said I need kontrak house stamp by municipality idi then they said need statmen from insurance if Columbia hotel paid my insurance the they said I need to go limasol distrik cs belong to limasol they wasted my time so much I pray the will bangkrut soon god never sleep !!!

Customer Service is horrendous

Their customer service agents are horrendous. They are unable to help with basic things like activating their 2-factor authentication app that apparently needs a phone call to activate. They have no desire to help you and or explain things and for even basic queries they will ask you to visit a local branch. The agents are untrained and unhelpful fully aware they are likely safe and protected by their union.

doesnt work

There is a lot of advertising. There are many offices.
It is not a bank
It is a stupid misunderstanding.
They have internet bank soft like as if made on the knee by a student. With lot of useless function. Without needed function.
In branch nobody knows what happen with your money. They are sitting there only for decoration.
And very important: the wise monkey from AML and KYC stop your money without any reason. They can accept part of transfer money and doesnt accept other part! It's very dangerous if you buy property on Cyprus. Stay away from this bank if you don't want any problems!

You get an account here if you want to be treated like a sub-human or you are forced to.

I have been a Hellenic Bank customer for more than 10 years. Unfortunately, because I am Russian, that does not entitle me to even the basic customer service or human decency. (And I don't have it as bad as other minorities or nationals from any countries America doesn't like.)

Nowhere in the world exists a more corrupt, inefficient, slow and poorly optimized banking experience such as with Hellenic Bank and in the Hellenic Bank App. Having had to survive the "Big Brother Hellenic Bank", when all my normal transactions as a uni student were draconically scrutinized with a huge magnifying glass because of Russia and its actions (haven't lived in that country since 2010 FYI), I thought maybe things would improve. Several sudden card cancellations and re-issuances, can't send your money anywhere without Hellenic's draconic oversight, and reaching anyone at all that could actually provide assistance with an issue? Good luck.

The office workers really don't care about you if you aren't a Millionaire or Cypriot/EU Citizen. I am writing this as a final straw, as my account has been held frozen for a KYC re-verification (out of nowhere) for several months. After I hopefully get my money out I am never ever using this cursed bank ever again.

I'd love to leave on a constructive note, but nothing will change. This bank exists only because migrants are forced to have a Bank Guarantee from a Cypriot bank by Law. I cannot wait to escape and get an actual bank.

i went to withdraw cash from their ATM…

i went to withdraw cash from their ATM using my card overseas. Their ATM shallowed my cart for no reason, then i went the next morning to claim my card and they told me my card was shipped back in the states. They refused to tell me where my card was and why was shallowed. My card and account is legit and valid. I called my bank in the states to confirm that. Totally useless bank. I had to order a new card and wait for a week to get it. Imagine if i was a tourist and visiting the country without any backup sources of cash. I would be stranded around without cash, food or roof to stay all because of the bank's fault. My bank did not acknowledge anything wrong with my account or card.

Absolutely terrible bank. Rip off charges for sending money via app or online. Considering no manpower required why are are helenic charging? If you are thinking/considering using the helenic credit card abroad/on holiday, do not. The most extortionate fees ever encountered on Any credit card I have ever seen (I have had many accounts/credit cards in various countries). Helenic are truly terrible. Disgustingly high charges and hide the exchange rate they are giving. Use an alternative such as Revolout etc.

Today

Today, I encountered a profoundly frustrating and disappointing experience with Hellenic Bank in Cyprus. I needed to make a deposit, but to do so via their ATM, I had to unlock my card using the Hellenic Bank app. Unfortunately, the app crashed due to a bug and would not allow me to log in and unlock my card.

Faced with this technical issue, I went into the bank, hoping for assistance. To my dismay, the bank staff refused to accept my cash deposit over the counter, citing their policy that cash deposits for amounts less than 500 euros must be done via ATMs. This policy is reasonable under normal circumstances, but not when their app, which is essential for using the ATM, is malfunctioning—a problem the bank was already aware of.

When I requested to speak with the manager, the response I received was both rude and dismissive. The staff gave me angry looks and curtly informed me that the bank manager was not available. This lack of professionalism and customer care was extremely aggravating.

The entire experience left me feeling very angry and dissatisfied. The bank staff showed no willingness to help or understand my predicament. Instead, they displayed a complete lack of empathy and an unwillingness to accommodate a customer facing an issue caused by the bank's own faulty app.

Hellenic Bank urgently needs to improve its customer service. Staff should be trained on how to communicate effectively and courteously with customers and should be willing to assist with their needs without prejudice. It's essential for any bank to have a responsive and functional system in place, especially when their digital services fail.

Overall, my experience with Hellenic Bank today was deeply disappointing. I hope they take immediate steps to address these issues and improve their customer service standards.
