General look around but grabbed a bargain!
Went to Merry Hill shopping centre just for a general look around. HMV is one of the favourite shops - music, Funko Pops, band Tee’s. What’s not to like?! Saw that some of the portable record players were on offer and made a purchase ahead of my daughter’s birthday. Also had a 15% off vinyl voucher included which is a bonus. Staff were nice and friendly, store laid out well.

Royal mail a pain hmv staff lively
The staff on the merryhill store love me know what I like. The staff are just brilliant. Only thing about hmv is I would love by more dvds but rather expensive in my opinion. As it was done through royal mail (i personally hate royal mail all my post late lost or damaged) would have been same price to send it too my house so why does it have to go to the store for me to pick up. Is it because hmv have realised like me how rubbish a company royal mail or what? I find this confusing. I loved my film clueless loved it when it came out always wanted it on dvd. My advice go eith a different delivery company you are their customer too and your a huge company.

Preordered the new boards of canada…
Preordered the new boards of canada album so I could listen to it on release day (I even booked the day off). On the Friday it got to around 3pm still no confirmation email that it had arrived. Tang helpline on hold for well over 30 minutes. Was advised I could buy one of the copies in store (you had an abundance of them) but would not get a refund on the preorder (???) so would effectively be paying twice. Eventually got the confirmation email at after 4pm. Very disappointed I asked the customer helpline to raise a complaint as was very unhappy. I have had no response from anyone about this. Really disappointed that was the first and last time I preorder anything from HMV. I preordered so I was confident I would have a copy to listen to on the day not in the evening. Shame, staff in store were friendly but disappointed with your preorder service.

We're very sorry to hear this. We can see that the item was released on 29/05/2026 and was marked as ready to collect in the afternoon. We can only apologise that this was not marked as ready to collect in the morning of the release - we absolutely appreciate that it would be more ideal to have the item first thing - but unfortunately this is not always possible due to circumstances out of our control related to the deliveries.
We can see that this has now been collected and we hope that you are enjoying your purchase.
