Tried setting up an unauthorised direct debit for a company my elderly grandmother had never even heard of or contacted. Extremely concerning that they have not only her address but also her bank details. Disgusting trying to scam elderly people. Reported to the financial ombudsman

This company enabled a newly set up company ,which called my 88 year old mother and sold her a service which she doesn’t need and they couldn’t provide (scam), to set up a direct debit on her account. On its own the company involved would not have been accepted into the Direct Debit Scheme as they have no track record. Interface Ltd has a duty to carry out KYC on their clients. A cursory glance on the Companies House website at the current and former directors and their current and former companies should have raised a few flags. In Interbacs Ltd defence when I called they had suspended the company, however they should never have been enabled in the first place.

I contacted Interbacs to cancel a number of direct debits that had been set up for services by insurance providers that had been mis-sold to my vulnerable relative over the phone. Jacob was incredibly helpful, cancelling those payments & checking other payments under the same address. Thank you so much for your help and making this process so straight forward.
