Had a very disappointing experience…
Had a very disappointing experience with IronmongeryDirect and feel it’s important to share it.
I placed an order on March 2nd for a large range of items including door hardware, electrical sockets and switches, and internal doors. My main order arrived in an unacceptable condition — the box was open, damaged, and everything inside was mixed together like a pile of rubbish. Not what you expect from a professional supplier.
After waiting nearly three weeks without receiving the doors, I contacted customer service. I was told that, for some reason, my door order had never been properly entered into their system or they supplier”s system. This was clearly their mistake. I agreed for them to reprocess the order, and I was promised delivery within three working days.
Then, unbelievably, I received a call saying that due to changes on their side, I would now have to pay an additional £50+ for delivery. Essentially, I was being asked to pay extra because of their own error.
At that point, I cancelled the door order and requested a refund.
Overall, this experience shows a complete lack of organisation, care, and accountability. Poor packaging, lost orders, long delays, and then trying to charge the customer more to fix their own mistake — completely unacceptable.
I strongly advise others to think twice before ordering from this company. I absolutely do not recommend IronmongeryDirect.

Toilet Roll Holder disappointment
Specific toilet roll holders were ordered as they are designed to fit Doc M toilet sets as used in disabled toilets. They look smart, the powder blue is a perfect match, however the clips don't fit on the Doc M rails which is disappointing especially as they cost £17.50 each.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience with the delivery of your order. This is certainly not the level of service that we expect for our customers.
Your order was dispatched in several parcels, however for reasons currently unknown, some of these were unfortunately marked for return back to us by the courier.
Regrettably, we were not notified of this by the courier at the time, which meant we were unable to update you sooner.
Please be assured that a replacement has now been issued and is due to arrive with you tomorrow.
I will also be raising this with our courier account manager for a full investigation, as delays and returns such as this are completely unacceptable. We will be working to ensure this is looked into thoroughly to help prevent similar issues from occurring in the future.
I do hope that this will not deter you from returning to us in the future.

Product good delivery not so
When paying for 2 day delivery you expect a 2 day service, having to spend time chasing deliveries is not a great use of my time, needing to reorder and 6 days on from the original order date the product arrived. While customer service were quick to resend your delivery options are too limited, I was told you use 2 couriers only ? And would not consider using RM ?

I am so sorry to hear about your recent experience, particularly with the delay to your order and the inconvenience caused by having to chase the delivery. This is certainly not the level of service that we expect for our customers.
Unfortunately, your original order was delayed in transit and, as there were no updates for a couple of days, it was declared as lost. As a result, a replacement was issued, however I completely understand how frustrating it must have been to receive your order 6 days after the original purchase date.
I do appreciate your comments regarding our delivery options. To clarify, we currently use three courier services: DPD and DX for our next day and premium services, and DX Express for our 2-day economy delivery.
At present, we are unable to use Royal Mail due to the later next-day delivery cut-off times we offer, along with the high volume of freight we handle each day.
That said, your feedback is very important to us and will be taken on board as we continually review our delivery services and options.
I do hope that this will not deter you from returning to us in the future.
