Disappointing!!!
I am extremely disappointed with my experience purchasing a new construction home from this builder. After living here for about a year and a half, I can honestly say that the quality of this home has been extremely disappointing.

Although the homes look modern and beautiful on the outside, the quality of the materials and workmanship is extremely poor. It feels like the cheapest, lowest-quality materials were used throughout the home—from the cabinets, flooring, plumbing, faucets, doors, and fixtures to the appliances. The home looks modern on the surface, but the problems underneath become very obvious once you actually live here.

The construction itself has many issues. The flooring is not level, furniture does not sit evenly, the walls are not straight, and many wall lines are visibly uneven. The cabinets have repeatedly come loose and required multiple service requests. My dishwasher has been an ongoing problem for about a year, and I was recently told that the cabinets were not properly leveled, which was preventing the dishwasher door from closing correctly. The downstairs storage doors are also uneven and do not properly close or lock.

I have also had problems with plumbing and bathroom fixtures, including faucets making noises and missing parts. The patio does not drain properly and collects rainwater. The garage door has had problems since I moved in, and there have also been garage leaks and other hardware issues.

There have been electrical and safety-related issues as well, including flickering lights and recurring fire alarm problems. Cell reception and Wi-Fi are extremely poor throughout the home—even with Verizon—and many of my neighbors experience the same issue, making working from home very difficult.

The most frustrating part is that this is a brand-new home. Many of these problems were not obvious during the purchasing process or while the home was being built; they became apparent only after moving in and actually living in the house.

There are honestly too many issues to list in one review. What makes this even more frustrating is the amount of time spent contacting management and requesting repairs, often with repeated follow-ups and unresolved problems.

In my experience, this builder prioritizes the modern appearance of the homes while using extremely cheap, low-quality materials and providing poor construction quality. I strongly recommend anyone considering purchasing from this builder to look beyond the appearance, have a very thorough independent inspection, and carefully evaluate the quality of the materials and workmanship before buying.

I regret not knowing these things before purchasing, and I am sharing my experience so other buyers can make a more informed decision.

For a company selling homes at these price points, the quality and attention to detail have been unacceptable. Less than a year after moving in, there are already issues that should not be appearing in a newly built home. Many aspects of the construction feel rushed, corners appear to have been cut, and even final repairs and touch-ups were completed with little care or craftsmanship.

The construction process itself reflected poor management. Work areas were frequently messy, roads were blocked without consideration for residents or passing traffic, and the overall professionalism of the crews left much to be desired. A builder is only as good as the people it hires, and too often it felt like the wrong contractors and workers were being trusted with important parts of the job.

What is most disappointing is that these problems are not isolated cosmetic issues they point to a lack of quality control and accountability. Homebuyers make one of the biggest financial investments of their lives when purchasing a home, and they deserve better than rushed work, overlooked defects, and ongoing concerns within the first year of ownership.

The HOA has only added to the frustration. Looking back, I would have seriously reconsidered buying in this community. Buyers should carefully inspect everything, ask hard questions, and not assume that “new construction” automatically means quality construction.

A home should provide confidence and peace of mind. Unfortunately, my experience with KHovnanian Homes has done the opposite. Thank you .

The worst builder experience of my lifetime I am 67years old buying my retirement new house lot in North Texas & agreeing to a lot after driving from San Antonio 6 hrs drive ea way! 5 days later sales rep switched my lot, 3 weeks later sale rep resigned, and 3 MONTHS later my foundation was completed I was requested to drive up & view! I went into shock as the new lot adjoined a major Texas Hwy which I had no clue about (first lot had major tree line blocking the hwy) - I owned a condo in Dallas for 20 yrs adjoining a major Frwy access road it was utter noise hell on earth for 20 years I’d never intentionally do it again! Anyway the $5,000 deposit I made is now in a fight with builder refunding it an atty hired is now involved and I am one mad customer who believes I have been a victim of fraud! It’s a New Jersey based home builder trying to screw customers in Texas which doesn’t go well with Texans keep in mind!

If I could give zero stars I would!!Ive only been here for 2 months and have encountered all types of issues. They did a rush job on my home and the workmanship is very poor quality. They smile in your face and promise the sun, moon and stars so that you can give a good rating on their survey and after that if you reach out to fix anything most times you’re ignored and they stop answering their phones. This morning they closed a service request as completed when no one came out!!!

2 out of 4 toilets not working in the house. I had to wait 2 months for trash cans to arrive . I should have chosen bayberry!!!

They don’t put a proper HVAC system. They put the minimum that they can meet by code. The house takes all night to come down to 71° in the summer and during the day I can barely bring it down under 78°.

Any larger ticketed item that they are supposed to fix in the first year they just keep on closing the request on their own with that ever sending someone down

If you’re considering purchasing a home from this builder, I strongly advise you to think twice. My experience has been overwhelmingly negative, and I feel compelled to share the details for the sake of prospective buyers.

Quality of Materials and Craftsmanship
From the outset, the materials used in the construction feel incredibly cheap. It’s evident that cost-cutting measures were prioritized over quality. The craftsmanship is shockingly sloppy, leading to several serious issues. For instance, I’ve noticed moisture problems that have resulted in mold growth—something you never want to deal with in a new home.

HVAC Issues
Another glaring problem is the air conditioning system. The unit installed is undersized for the home’s dimensions, making it struggle to keep the place cool, especially during hotter months. This oversight has not only made living conditions uncomfortable but also raised my energy bills significantly.

Peeling Seals
To add to the list of issues, I’ve observed that the seals around the windows and doors are peeling off throughout the house. This not only looks unappealing but also contributes to the moisture problems, potentially leading to more serious structural issues down the line.

Warranty and Customer Service
When I reached out regarding these problems, I quickly discovered that the warranty offered by this builder is essentially worthless. They seem to have no intention of genuinely addressing any concerns once the sale is finalized. It’s disheartening to see such lack of accountability, especially for a new home.

My experience with this home builder has been disappointing and frustrating. I urge anyone considering a home purchase to seriously reconsider and look elsewhere. There are plenty of reputable builders out there who stand behind their work and prioritize quality and customer satisfaction. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

The homes are beautiful and designed so nice. It was so easy to buy this home. Tony Covello is so involved and immediately solves any problems. He has made us so happy and able to reach him if needed. I am so happy with this home and I looked at many different builders before I found Kovnanian homes. I'm very happy with my home in Citrus Springs.

The advertised price is apparently a gimmick. So far we have been quoted 3 different prices on the same home and it would appear they are raising the price of the home to get the incentives they advertise. It is very questionable to say the least. In addition, DO NOT provide any information to their in house mortgage company because they will run a credit report before you even present an offer. We specifically stated we did not want a credit report run yet because we were still looking and had not decided to present an offer and they ran it anyway. The price advertised and the price on the estimate from the in house mortgage was approximately 31k more or 13k more than the price quoted depending on which price they decided to quote at the time on a closeout quick move-in home for a well qualified buyer. Glad I checked out recent reviews on this lender and company.

“I am an investment property buyer who experienced a documented TRID violation, RESPA Section 8 steering, and bait and switch by K. Hovnanian American Mortgage. I have filed regulatory complaints and have reported to various state and federal agencies. If you experienced similar treatment — withheld Loan Estimate, rate changed after signing, earnest money withheld, or seller contributions misrepresented for investment property comment on trust pilot.

I was very excited to purchase their moved in ready home . I was rushed by their sales agent . The same day ( Friday) we filled up and submit what is asked , kept texting the sales agent Mason Kipp and replied to us that he will informed their lender. never heard from him . comes Monday I called him that I never heard back from their lender , I understand it is weekend .
He casually told me it was sold Friday night which the same day we were texting back and forth . I was so upset because their lender even run our credit for nothing. and when I said you should have at least give me a courtesy text that it was sold . how much we could be rushing when we did everything we were told. He replied well I guess I should informed you.
I was very upset . never I will recommend this and will even buy from this builder!

⭐ 1 Star – Do Not Trust This Builder or Mortgage Company

K. Hovnanian at Vdara and K. Hovnanian American Mortgage cost me $5,000 in earnest money due to their own lack of transparency and internal miscommunication.

I made it clear from day one to Amanda Rivero that this was an investment property. Despite that, I was given a contract with seller contributions that were not allowed for an investment loan. Only after signing did loan officer Ava Wint tell me I didn’t qualify because it wasn’t a primary or secondary residence—something they already knew.

I was sold on a 3.75% interest rate, told it was expiring in days, and then the terms changed immediately after signing. Classic bait-and-switch.

I’m currently fighting to get my earnest money back and will be pursuing legal counsel if it’s not reimbursed. I strongly recommend staying away from this builder, this mortgage company, and these individuals.

I got a call from her daughter that the home was on fire! I drove an hour to the home.
I got there, and the fire department was there. I asked the on-duty fire supervisor what happened, and he said the oven and stove had come on and never shut off, causing the fire. Francis has been in rehabilitation for 2 weeks; she was not even home. Your company sent an investigator to the home the next day.

I met with him at 12:15 the next day, and he told me that the unit should have been kicked off by the 220 GFCI breaker that the home builder installed while building the home. He told me that it could be faulty that was the reason it didn't kick off the unit. He even mentioned that the unit itself should have kicked off the breaker. If the plug doesn't have the adequate wiring, it will not operate correctly, which is a fire hazard and isn't safe for anyone to live in this home.

Using Khov mortgage was a horrible choice that cost me thousands extra and unlimited stress. The discount offered on home price is not worth the outrageous fees and high mortgage rate. Worse of all, khov ruined my vacation. I gave them dates of an overseas trip months before, and checked in right before leaving to make sure they had everything. Then when I arrived at my destination, they made all kinds of demands that were impossible to fulfill. The US, like most first world countries, has technology in place so certain actions cannot be performed when outside the US. I could not access the Khov site to see their forms or upload documents. Their site is blacked out when abroad. Likewise, I could not access my documents at US financial institutions. Khov threatened me that I was not complying and they would keep my deposit. They started this 2.5 weeks before closing, even though their materials state they would ask for final docs 30 days before. It was the worst stress of my life dealing with them, and completely their fault. I have never been treated like a criminal before. I almost walked away due to this horrible experience. It has made it almost impossible to be happy living in new home, remembering the despicable way they treated me through their negligence. I had to refinance 2 months later as it was such bad mortgage terms. I continue to suffer pain from this ugly chapter and urge others to avoid. They never apologized for the abysmal treatment.

We built our home with K. Hovnanian and have been extremely disappointed with how our warranty issue was handled. Before our warranty expired, we submitted a service request for our front door sidelights, which had become fogged over. K. Hovnanian directed us to a manufacturer, who then informed us they were not the correct manufacturer and could not help.
I reached out again and spoke to a representative at K. Hovnanian, who said they would look into the issue—but there was never any follow-up. Our warranty has since expired, and we are now stuck with a front door that has two fogged windows and no way to get them replaced.
It’s incredibly frustrating to have a legitimate warranty issue ignored despite reporting it on time. Being passed back and forth with no accountability is unacceptable. Buyers deserve better communication, follow-through, and support. I’m hoping this review will spark a response and lead to a resolution, because at this point it’s the only avenue left to get this addressed.

Zero stars on service would be a more appropriate rating. We purchased a KHovanian home in 2019. There is supposed to be a 10 year warranty on the foundation in addition to the standard 1 year warranty on everything else. Two or three years after our purchase, 2 surface cracks were noticed on the bricks of our foundation, and KHov responded to make the repairs. Took about 10 minutes if that. The repairman who came out told me to inspect the foundation once a year or so, and call in any additional surface cracks in the bricks so they could be repaired within the 10 year warranty period on the foundation.
Fast forward to 2024 when I noticed the exact same type of crack in a different location and called it in. I had to call several times to even get a response. Complete runaround. Finally on 1/7/25, KHov emails me that surface cracks are a normal occurrence and I need to just fix it myself. I responded and asked for an explanation as to why surface cracks weren't a normal occurrence a few years back when the other 2 cracks were repaired under the warranty. What changed? Why were 2 of the cracks covered under warranty and the 3rd one suddenly isn't? Why would the repairman fix cracks that weren't covered under the warranty, then tell me to call if any other cracks developed? If the first 2 cracks were repaired under the warranty, good customer service would dictate that the company is pretty much obligated to repair the third crack under the warranty as well. Still waiting on that explanation, in case any of you reading this were wondering.
The moral of the story? Don't fall for the sweet talk of a 10 year warranty on your foundation during the sales process. It sounds nice and even looks good on paper, but KHov will go out of their way to deny your repair. They put more effort into getting out of work than if they would just do the work in the first place. When it comes to new construction, there are alot of choices in home builders out there who still believe in good customer service after the sale. KHovanian is not one of them, and based upon my experience I would not recommended them to anyone looking for new construction.

We had a terrible experience with K. Hovnanian aka Khov in dealing with defective flooring and multiple other issues. My trust in this trade is seriously eroded after experiencing their "homeowner services" team. They concoct lies to cover for their failures and leave their home buyer's holding the bag for costly repairs on a new house. For example, in the last few months we spent many thousands of dollars replacing defective, poorly installed LVP flooring and ceramic tile floors that had lippage and chips. This came after over a year of on again/off again promises and visits by the builder's staff and subcontractor and failed arbitration because the builder unwittingly took us past vital dates. They are masterful at deception and are not above lying to achieve the goal of not taking responsibility for issues in their newly built houses. They stand behind poorly performing subcontractor's and not home buyers.
