I had FTTP installed on friday by Colm mcgrudden at my property in newtownards. Well what can I say..The guy is an absolute credit to your company and really did go out of his way to do a pretty difficult install to an extremely high standard. I previously had another contracting company out who said the exisiting infrastructure couldnt be used and the driveway would need dug up or alternatively it would have cost me 2k to run new trenches etc. Colm came and assesd the job and used his vast knowledge to complete it to a great standard and use exisiting infrastructure. Many other contractors would have failed the job as it was a considerable amount of effort required to complete. Colm was not willing to give in and with alot of determination he installed the FTTP with zero mess. Well done Colm and KN group

KN or Know Nothing

We had a KN "technician" out today to get fibre broadband installed at our new build. After more than an hour parked up on the driveway, the "technician" eventually got out for some fresh air. He said we had two options for installation, either run the duct underground to the internet pole which would mean digging up our newly laid driveway and our neighbours lawn OR line the cable overhead to our gable (two story). He had advised that the second option would leave the cable lying low overhead and suggested the first was the way to go "that's what I'd do if I was you... if your neighbour didn't mind... are they family?". I sought the advice of our builder who said to most definitely go overhead. The builder spoke with the "technician" and put him straight on matters about height overhead etc. The "technician" wasn't long about back-pedalling about the height after speaking with the builder but in the meantime he had decided to "defer the appointment" which meant nothing could be done today. I asked him could he not cancel the deferral and start today, his answer was a short "No." "System, bla, bla". He then refused to give me his name so I could talk to his manager. I had taken the full day off work to have the broadband connected today. This "technician" was shown up to be a complete bluffer who was looking for the easy way out. Obviously there would be a lot more work in it for him if we are going to go overhead rather than having to go digging the place up. Too much sitting in brand new company vans must be a cause for a lack of motivation for these KN lads going around with bad manners doing absolutely ____ all. I have rang KN headquarters three times looking to speak to a manager but to no avail. No word on when they'll be back out either but I told them not to send out the schoolboy "technician" they sent out today or we're doomed again.

Damaged caused with installation

We changed broadband service to EIR from Sky as they were offering a great deal. All seemed to be going ok until installation team arrived, I have to say the lads were very nice however it's only after they left that we realised what had occured.

They drilled into a copper pipe leaving a big hole which resulted in us having no heating or hot water. Totally oblivious to this until we had a plumber call the day after and he had to cut open the wall and take out the damaged pipe and replace with new in order for us to have heating. In his opinion they would of known they drilled into this as it would of damaged their drill and that is what happened the drill they had broke and another gentleman called with a replacement. At this time we just thought it was bad luck. We have small children so we had to pay ourselves to get the pipe issue repaired and awaiting on a plasterer to repair the hole in the wall. We had had Eir three years ago with no issues so this was a big disappointment. We await a response from Eir on this matter. As I said the lads were very polite and friendly but I don't think they knew exactly what they were doing.

I wouldn't trust KN engineers to boil a kettle

KN, working on behalf of Eir, were booked to install fibre broadband at my property in Kerry last week. The KN engineers that turned up were badly organised and showed very little motivation. Subsequently I have cancelled my order with Eir.
I have read some of the other reviews posted here which shouldn't make comfortable reading for anyone associated with this company.
Obviously rock bottom prices to Eir, Vodafone etc. can only result in rock bottom service to customers.

Installation observations

FTTH is now available in our area, and as my present contract is ending shortly I am interested in the new offering of 500mb speed.
All our services are underground. A neighbour was having FTTH installed a few days ago and I was interested to see how the installation was being done.
On asking the KN about why the existing ducting was not being used, he informed me that these usually become blocked near where they enter the house.
So looking at what was being done, a hole had been drilled high up in the public footpath manhole pit and the fibre cable fed into the garden where a VERY SHALLOW trench 1" to 1 1/4" was made along by the footpath and continued at rigth angles next to the concrete drive where fine ornamental gravel had been moved back to continue the shallow trench. This then took the cable to a concrete area where again a shallow trench had been cut with an angle grinder or consaw. A small hole was drilled 15" to 18" above this in the wall of the house and the fibre cable was being fed through here. I noticed a loose piece of wavin type pipe about 4" long running free on the fibre cable and had my suspicions as to its' use.
I went back 2 days later and my suspicions were correct, the trench in the concrete had been filled and the wavin pipe showing proud where the fibre cable rose up to enter the house.
Looking at this, one would presume that the fibre cable ran in a duct the whole way back to the manhole, when in fact the cable is barely covered by gravel and earth.
Any work in the garden would easily damage or expose the cable.
No good work practice by any means.

Update.
I had FTTH installed on Friday last, 5th November.
The 2 installers from KN were efficient and knew what they were doing. I was glad that I did not get the crew who installed my neighbour's system.

I got a text message stating that the company was coming to upgrade my line to fibre and to confirm my availability by calling a telephone number supplied. Despite 10 calls to the number I still have been unable to contact them. After waiting for 2 minutes approximately I get a message that the office is closed even though I am calling during opening hours

Easily the worst and most lazy so…

Easily the worst and most lazy so called Engineers to fix a problem. These boys are useless who try to do a job as quick as possible. It appeared they have some sort of pitch they sell the customer at the start stating that the fibre cable cant bend... Guys if you want your wifi in a particular spot of the house, make them do it! Its not rocket science, just requires a bit more time. To cut a long story short, the KN boys, placed the fibre cable in an area of the house which the sockets did not work, meaning there was no mains electricity to run to the source of the Home H Hub. Lads avoid at all costs, RUN RUN RUN these boys would not know how to run a bath!

Totally useless company

The engineers were to come to replace the internet cable for fibre cable. When they arrived, after a survey had been done previously, the two lazy engineers spent more time talking about how big a job it was and they weren’t equipped for it. I told them I’d dig out the trench myself and was booked in for yet another appointment for cable and connection.I took a day off work for this and needless to say the engineer didn’t even bother to turn up for that and after numerous phone calls and a lot of stress I was told they wouldn’t be able to call for a couple of days, when I phoned to confirm this I was told that the job wasn’t even booked in. I can’t get an appointment for another two weeks, this has been going on for over a month.Totally useless company and I’m still waiting on at least three staff members to call me back. Avoid this company!!!!!

Terrific service…

I have had two pairs of KN engineers attend my home this week - Tuesday and Wednesday. Their mission was to connect me up to the Eir fibre network.

They were incredibly professional throughout. Clearly conscious of Covid. They kept me informed throughout but ultimately were unable to complete their task due to some underground issue.

I understand a licence has been applied for from Mayo Co Co which is unlikely to be a rapid process. But I understand the need for that process.

Please pass on my thanks and the fact that they were so impressive to their line management. I thought they were excellent and I am confident that as soon as the council permits they will get me up and running.

Excellent install by Morgan

Excellent install by Morgan, our FTTP service was meant to be installed underground through existing ducting, however, this was blocked and would have required some complicated digging to be carried out.
Morgan offered us the option to install an overhead cable instead. Stayed till 7 pm to get the install done as he did not want us to be without internet and did a very neat install both on inside and outside walls. He was very friendly and chatty, also respected Covid safety rules.

If I could give a HUGE minus to this…

If I could give a HUGE minus to this company I would!!!! My parents were 3 years trying to sell their house in the West of Ireland, and is pending sale on the condition of broadband would be installed. Sinse the 17th of July last year (2020) they have been lied to repeatedly!! The book has been passed to so many people!! My father waiting endlessly days upon days for them to arrive.. But never do! This is breaking my poor parents!!! They are elderly and can't cope with the stress!! They have gone to top politicians and even they have been lied to!!!!!!!!! This is completly unacceptable! They will loose the sale of their house over this, and this is effecting both of their health! This is SO unacceptable that they can not put a line into their house since last JULY??!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT ANSWERES!!!! Can someone please give advice?? KN!!!!! Eir?????????!!!??!

Your crew were upgrading cables in…

Your crew were upgrading cables in leixlip, they came on to my property unannounced with out permission and scared my wife who was at home alone with 3 kids under 2 years of age.

They were working away and the kids crying brought your men to my wifes attention.

My wife questioned what they were doing, she told them they were not to drill any holes they said they would not be making holes....They lied...😤

I have spent lots of money on external insulation which now has an extremely big hole, it is really unsightly and thats only what i can see in the dark when i came home from work, the wall has been butchered by sloppy carless workmanship with what can only be deemed "a just get it done job, we have a 100 more house to do before 5pm"

I am extremely angry over this matter and need to speak to someone in your company regarding this issue asap.

You cant just come and destroy the facade of my house like this😤😤😤

Horrified to hear that two of your workers were not wearing masks while working in my parents house yesterday. They were working there for a few hours and were in and out of their house. Not a single F given about the health and safety of my parents. Do better!!

Terrible installment service

Booked a DIgiweb service which was good in the beginning, the customer service is nice. However, they use this Kn Group to install the service which is terrible. The guy come twice with the same issue and have no job done. He doesn't willing to stay more than 10 mins. And their management is terrible, the top don't know what is going on!

Liars! Most ignorant people I’ve ever met in…

Most ignorant people I’ve ever met in my life. I ordered eir broadband and these people rang me and arranged my appointment for 3 days from then. I waited all day and no one showed up. I rang them at half 5 and they said I failed to answer my phone or door to them and they cancelled the account? I rang eir and complains and cancelled the line. So I rang Vodafone ans ordered broadband. They told me the 15th! About 7:45 at night a fella from kn arrived and first thing he said was ‘you the mad who caused all the trouble for me last week’ I said what. He handed me W box and said that’s your router the instructions are inside and left! I put it in and it wouldn’t work. Next day I rang Vodafone and they said that my line had not been activated at the exchange and give me an appointment for today. Today a fella from kn called. Told me I have some neck whatever that means. I’m 59 so I don’t understand. Took my modem out and left. I rang Vodafone to ask what’s going on and they said kn refused to install my broadband as I was abusive and would wouldn’t allow entry to my property! They give me a number for kn and told me to call and give me a man appointment ref number. This is crazy! I rang kn and got a girl called chole and told her what happened. She said sorry kn are unable to help you on this occasion and hung up! Now I can’t ring them they blocked my number? What is going on! I have cctv on my house and you can hear me and them talking what are they lying and doing this

Horrible service, rude and liers

Booked an appointment after months of waiting. Waited at home all day nobody showed up I called in the middle afternoon to check what was going on as nobody showed up until then, they couldn’t tell if and when somebody was coming even if they meant to come ,called again just before 5pm and was told that somebody was at my home but I didn’t answer, and that they also ring my mobile phone but not calls from them at all. Ridiculous And liers!!

Ask who is installing before you sign up and avoid this crowd like the plague

I signed up with Pure Telecom Installation to be carried out on Friday 21st August KN they showed up at about 4pm and told me there was no pipe and works would have to be carried out and would take two weeks, to carry on using my hotspot and for my husband (nearly 70 yrs old) to dig the hole to find pipe from our house which he had already showed them where it was. So I phoned pure telecom and James told me there was a blockage in the non existent pipe and the works would be carried out 31st September maybe earlier maybe later (I have just realised I know there are 30 days in September he doesn't is this a clue a non existent day to fix a blockage in a non existent pipe) screams scam to me. So I said cancel and contacted vodafone who said installation would be done Friday 28th August 2020 waited in all day no show. Found out why it was supposed to be KN Group doing the installation.
