False promises
Now called Taylors crisps. Bought a packet of fiery pickled onion, opened them and they were just plain crisps with absolutely no flavouring added.
Send complaint email to Taylors and received a reply stating that they would send me vouchers as compensation. Guess what?...no vouchers arrived.
Just lost a customer.
I want to like them , but I just can't do
I've tried so hard to like them as I'm Scottish , but the seem overly greasy , too salty , and taste like the bag has been open a few days . I've tried numerous bags over the years and have the same opinion . Usually they go in the bin unfortunately.
Now Taylor's. Not great
Now sold under the Taylor's name. Not particularly good quality....poor taste and slightly 'odd' texture. They just don't taste 'natural' compared to other brands.
TAYLORS POTATO CRISPS SEA SALT
I don't eat chips often, I buy them exclusively for my children's birthday parties and I look for those produced only with potatoes, sunflower oil and salt. At the first taste they are really strange to the palate, they don't make you desire to eat them again but, the worst thing, after having munched no more than one handful, was feeling a sensation I'd never had before, an acid regurgitation of saliva.
I think you should be seriously ashamed of putting so much rubbish on the market.
I accidentally bought Mackie’s crisps…
I accidentally bought Mackie’s crisps yesterday when I was in the Coop. I saw Taylor’s crisps and mistakenly thought they were a new brand. Huge huge mistake- they have very odd and unpleasant deep overwhelming taste kind of like staleness. No taste of ‘Sea Salt’ or any salt really and very peculiar. Do the company not read reviews- I can see I am not alone. THEY TASTE STALE AND NASTY. Why are you marketing this guff to us Joe Public. Desperate. I had two packets and they are safely in the bin.
Not real potato more like tasteless pringles
Looks like a premium handcooked crisp but tastes horrible - I am guessing compoundeed potato powder and the flavours are awful. Give them a miss!
Poses as a premium crisp
Poses as a premium crisp. Reality is total miss. Purchased 3 bags and all of them lacked any discernible flavour whatsoever. Reading other reviews this doesn't look like it was just a bad batch either.
Stupidly dry
Horrible crisps with poor flavour. Mackies and then Taylors now rebranded, and just the same nasty dry cardboard texture. I'd rate them 0 stars if I could. It's a crisp that soaks up all moisture and has no satisfying oiliness.

I love the taste of sea salt
Unnatural
These crisps are very different from others that claim to be made from "potatoes". As a layman my understanding is that a declaration of 'potato' in the ingredients means a sliced or similarly cut natural tuber and not a derivative, e.g. potato starch/powder. However, these Mackies's crisps are more like the fabricated popular product sold in a tube which states the basic ingredient is potato starch. Why are the Mackie's crisps so seemingly 'artificial'?
Another 5* Cheese & Onion review
Another delighted Aldi customer here. We don't usually buy 'cheap' crisps, but needed some picnic items for the bank holiday and grabbed a bag of these. 150g bag full to the brim with tasty, good sized crisps. Will look out for the Taylors branding when we're next in there.
Mackies seasalt crisps are the best crisps
Mackies seasalt crisps are the absolute best. They are not oily, they taste of potatoes, light and crunchy with the perfect amount of salt, happy discovery at Lidl
The pickled onion crisps are incredible.
Blooming worst crisp ever
Hated Makies and suprise suprise Taylors, which continue following the take over with this god damn awful texture of dried cardboard. They claim to be Scotland's best loved crisp, which l find very hard to believe. Utter yuckiest crisp l have ever tasted and that's since 1966!
Dry potatoes,strange texture,like…
Dry potatoes, strange texture, like eating cardboard,Very Bland, hardly any taste, quite a few black spot's / patches on the crisp's,Poor quality potatoes ??! Very Dissapointing,I will Not be buying them again... How did they get past Quality Control ??!
The Mackie's Cheddar cheese & Onion are yummy!
I bought a packet of Mackie's Cheddar and Onion crisps from Aldi. I thought they were great and had a look on Trustpilot "just for the hell of it". I was truly amazed by all the poor reviews! There was another 5 start review for the Cheese and Onion so maybe the others aren't so good? Anyway, I loved them!
These are not real crisps
These are not real crisps. They contain so many more thingsthan potato. I an allergic to soya which I found out after is in them and spent two days on the toilet. Perhaps the clue is eat same day as opening. Absolute rubbish.
Worst Crisps we have tasted
Worst Crisps we have tasted, like eating bland cardboard... never again..
Just bought cheese and onion crisps
Just bought cheese and onion crisps. Tastes of absolutely nothing. Cardboard. Never again.
Stick to making ice cream Mackies…
Stick to making ice cream Mackies because you certainly can't make crisps. As your advert says they have a unique texture and I can assure you that you don't need to apply for a patent as it will only be packaging companies that would want to copy it.
