I believed their false advertising on a Hand Carved Wood Bird House, first of all it is NOT Hand Carved and NOT wood. Second, the dimensions are false, it states the height is 11-12", not true, they are less than 8 1/2" high. I contacted Marlow Mercantile and was told I could send the Birdhouses back, but, I'd have to send them back to Hong Kong, at my expense, or I could get a refund of only 25% of what I paid! Either way this company still makes money and they know these Birdhouses are fake. I told them I was going to the Fraud Dept of my Credit Card Co., I was offered 35% as a final offer, what else could I do. DO NOT BUY anything from them, everything is made in China, Hong Kong, definitely not in America, this company is a rip off, Shame on ALL of you!!

This company is a total scam. It advertised hand carved wooden birdhouses from North Carolina. what I received was a small plastic birdhouse mass produced from China. To return I would need to ship it back to Hong Kong pay for shipping expenses and only get 25% back. I should have read the bad reviews before I bought this. My bad! But I am disputing the charge and pursuing a chargeback with my credit card company and you should too! If enough people file successful chargeback claims credit card companies will punish scam companies like Marlow and can even put them out of business.

This internet store reseller hawks an eclectic mix of things. Elaborate advertisements for 'Appalachian' crafts popped up in a google search of other things for me. Turns out the images of 'craftsmen' in their ads are AI generated and the homespun stories are fake. I bought 2 "wood carved" bird houses for $80 and threw in a $5 tip 'for the craftsman.' What I received were 2 plastic birdhouses that stunk of toluene glue. I emailed Marlow Market with my complaint, and the response was that I could either return it to a Hong Kong address at my own expense, or they'd refund 25% of the purchase for the return. Obviously, this seller's descriptions of items are outright lies, and the fraudsters should face consequences. Their rating should be 'zero,' not 1.

False advertising. They claim Amos is hand crafting these in North Carolina out of wood. They are plastic and tiny and they are from Hong Kong. Buyer beware. The company is not helpful and expect you to pay to ship it back to them for a refund. Scam!

Wish I checked this website, bought the owl house and it's nothing like the ad that requested refund but I know I been scammed. Fell for the story about the grandpa building these in New England state lol.

Like many others if I could give zero stars I would. The owl house we ordered arrived destroyed. It was broken to pieces to be shoved into the shipping box. Reported to BBB. They offered “final gesture of 50% refund” when continued to be pushed about returning. Doesn’t even cover the shipping to Hong Kong. They are just a scam.

If I could give it a zero I would. False advertising. Advertised a hand carved wood birdhouse made by an artist in NC, measuring 11-12" tall. Instead I received a mass produced piece of crap that measures 8". Weird that the website says "full refund. no questions asked. " Yet I have to mail it back to Hong Kong to get a 25% refund.

I also purchased the "wood" bird house and it is plastic! Very deceiving advertising! I will not buy anything else from this company. Please be aware that Marlow Market is not THE Marlow Market! The word "the" must be included in the address to avoid the Chinese ripoff site.

They advertised carved wood birdhouses from North Carolina and sent molded plastic figures apparently poured in China. To return they want me to pay shipping to Hong Kong or they will refund 25% of the original cost. This is obviously a scam and needs to be prosecuted.

Do not trust this site or the products. My order arrived damaged and the best they would do was that I pay for shipping back to Hong Kong or take a 35% return on a broken birdhouse that was obviously NOT handmade. This site is a scam beware!!!

Fraud! I filed with Federal Trade Commission and my bank. Like the other reviews, not wood carved, but resin plastic. They dont offer full refund in 30 days with free shipping like it states. Returns ship to Hong Kong at my expense which would be more than the cost of purchasing. Very sad to know humans can be so deceptive.

I ordered two on the "hand carved" wooden birdhouses when the web site said Amos could not carve anymore because of arthritis and there were 17 left. So I ordered two ! I should have read these reviews first and not be scamed by the Chinese perpetrators. What a joke these people are! Return to Hong Kong my ass. 25 percent off if I keep them. Not worth the plastic they are made from ! Never buy from this company !August 6, 2026

I thought I was doing a good deed by supporting a 72 year old with a skill for carving wood. Turns out it was a complete scam. I ordered 4 wooden birdhouses and received 4 cheap plastic birdhouses. I see from others that retuning them or getting a refund will be fruitless. Also, I was to be charged $127 but was charged $158. This company is ripping people off with false advertising and should be shut down and its owners locked up. Terrible

Ordered a “handmade” eagle for the yard supposed to 3D and 66” tall when on a stake it supposed to come with instead is just a cutout that is 12” tall to stick in a pot

I placed an order from an ad I saw on Facebook by Marlow Market. The ad was for a “hand carved wooden birdhouse” that they provided a back-story about the man that hand-carved the birdhouses. Their ad and their website said “ a 72 year-old Appalachian woodcarver is letting go of his final hand- carved birdhouses and he explains why in his own words…”The picture the ad featured showed a birdhouse that appeared quite large and it was hanging in a tree. The cost was $40. I received the birdhouse today and it was about half the size (or smaller) of what it looked like in their photo. It WAS NOT made of wood; It was made of PLASTIC, & it appeared to be made from a mold. It had a metal triangle glued to the back and no way to hang it in a tree. This is clearly a scam. DO NOT order anything from this company! I should have looked for reviews on this company before ordering. My bad! I have since found out that they have many, many reviews that show the exact same complaint and experience that I had. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company to get my $$ back & I encourage others to do the same. The seller requires returns to be sent to Hong Kong at my expense, even though it was shipped to me from Illinois. As an alternative to mailing it to Hong Kong, they offered 25% off. Clearly , this “aint their first rodeo”! The company’s business model has SCAM written all over it.

Classic bait and switch. There was a whole story about the old-timer who supposedly handcrafted an American flag out of barn wood, carving each and every star. What I got was a cracked piece of foam with a flag printed on it. They even had the audacity to include a little card saying: ‘every piece in your order was made by hand, with care and intention, by a real artisan.’ Felt like insult to injury but someone is laughing his ass off. The whole thing is outrageous B.S. Surprised it is allowed to exist.

Absolutely a scam. Said wood its actually cheap plastic! Said 12 in. Not even 8 in ! Theirs not even an Amos in bakersville nc !!!
