Melissa & Doug sent defective choking hazards advertised to infants
Melissa & Doug sent me two defective ones, one of which was a peg puzzle. The pegs fell out which is absolutely a choking hazard. But mistakes happen, and I was willing to point out this problem, and asked for a replacement. When I emailed them regarding the issue, they sent a form letter that asked me to... contact them. So I did, and got another automatic letter telling me to contact them. You can extrapolate how this sisyphean effort went. M&D was sold to a private equity in 2023, and has become so dangerously poor that I am begging parents to ignore the high ratings of the past, and instead browse the newer reviews. A dangerous, derelict agency that needs to be blacklisted.
Parts missing
Parts missing. Difficult communication communications. Unnecessarily complex phone interactions. No concern that they’re selling incomplete kits. Especially problematic when you’re giving this as a birthday present and you open the box and the toy cannot be used.
Toys worth purchasing.
Their educational toys are very stimulating and good quality. My daughter loves them.
Brilliant customer service
Brought the cleaning set for my grandson's Christmas Present, but unfortunately after a few hours the duster broke. Contacted Melissa and Doug to see if I could get a replacement. Initially, due to holidays they were slow to respond, but after a few weeks I got an email asking for product details and receipt of purchase. Unfortunately, they couldn't replace the broken item but did offer a choice of another Melissa and Doug product. Which I accepted and it has just arrived. So wanted to say a big Thank You for such good customer service.
Melissa and Doug toys are normally very good so was surprised the duster broke so quickly. Much appreciate good customer service.
Fishing rod in play fishing set breaks…
Fishing rod in play fishing set breaks immediately while unpacking Christmas morning. Upon shocked inspection, the wood in the rod had a knot where it broke. Customer Service was a NIGHTMARE!! Loud background noise, thick accents, promises that I didn't need a receipt, "no problem" (lost in Christmas bustle,) just send pics, number on item, box, etc. Told "we will definitely take care ofd you." Receive email saying sorry can't replace, have no receipt. ITS CLEARLY A FLAW IN THE PRODUCT, all numbers line up, but too bad. Starts two weeks of emails! Then "escalation" & "we will definitely do something for you." Wait. Email says "sorry, can't help, you don't have receipt." Call back, told, "we need to escalate this." Said it was already escalated! Told no, it was never escalated. (!!!!!!! :-( !!!!!!!!) NEVER AGAIN. If this new company that bought Melissa & Doug can't clearly see the photo evidence and won't support it, I'm done. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN.

Awful customer service
I believe their products are of good quality, however, their customer service is the absolutely worst that I have experienced. Their was a piece missing on the grocery store that we paid hundreds of dollars for at Christmas for our granddaughters and they were not helpful at all and said to send an email and they would see if they could do anything about it. In my eyes, this type of feedback ruins their product. I will not be purchasing their products anymore.

She struggled with spelling. In English and then told me the company won’t change shipping address. Really a poor company I do not recommend.
Horrible Customer Service
I placed an order with them via phone and was suppose to receive a 30% disc. I did not recieve the correct discount. I called and was told no worries that when my merchandise arrived that I should call and they would adjust the charged amount. After 4 phone calls and promises of a call back after it was expedited. They never called back. I called today for the 5th time and was given an explanation that I used points and that a coupon can not be used when applying points. I have no points to apply! When look at my account online it states no points have been accumulated and 0 points have been redeemed. I have never in my life had a company tell me one thing and then not to thru in any way shape or form!!! And this all over $9.00. I told them to send me a return label and I would be happy to return all the unopened items. They of course didn't want to do that. I have 9 grandchildren and will never ever spend a penny at Melissa and Doug. Worst customer service I have ever experienced!!!
Poor customer service
Ordered a matching puzzle from Amazon but the wood came all chipped, and the string all frayed. Amazon would not accept the return, stating it was to go through Melissa and Doug. Unanswered email from 3 weeks, so called in and spoke to a person who said someone would call me back. Its been an additional week now. Disappointing as I do like (or did like) their products.

Overall the cockpit is cool, but attitude and heading indicators turn the opposite direction as accurate to normal flight.

I purchase a firetruck tent and it tripped and the tent poles bent within the first few weeks. I emailed the company provided them with everything that asked and they said sorry we can’t help. I emailed them asking why and they stopped answering.
National Parks floor puzzle
We ordered the National Parks Floor Puzzle for our grandchildren and we all couldn’t be happier ! Firstly, it was delivered in a timely manner , as were other products that we previously ordered. Secondly, the pieces were bigger than other puzzles and very sturdy. We’ll all be putting this one together over the years to come !

Bought a police dress up item for our 3 year old son. Had assumed Melissa and Doug item would be good quality but noticed a big hole in the pocket after a few hours wear. No response from their customer service via Amazon. Disappointing.
No cancellation, even seconds after placing order
Like many other reviewers, I accidentally clicked through and placed an order to the wrong address. I tried emailing right away, calling (they're closed), and seeing if I could cancel online. Website says no cancellation so I will see what customer service says and will update the rating if they provide support

I would give a -5 star review if I could. I made a purchase and with in five minutes called to cancel as I found it for less. I was told they couldn’t cancel it. How ridiculous is that. I’ve had buyer’s remorse in the past with very good outcomes of the order I placed being cancelled. 😡 I will never buy from this company again.

Purchased lady bug flashlight for Granddaughter--ordered in April for November birthday--I did have it personalized but when we opened it---it didnt work---tried 2 different kinds of brand new batteries but still wouldnt work--I was told guarentee only good for 30 days so I guess don't shop early--Company says 100% satisfied or money back--I wasnt expecting money back since i had it personalized but was only offered free shipping and pay for new one--I thought Melissa and Doug stood by their products--could have at least offered free shipping or new one w/out personalization---something would have been nice--Dont know if I will buy from Melissa & Doug again and certainly wont order anything personalized....
Update on this review, to my very pleasant SURPRISE I received a new flashlight which works and it came personalized--my granddaughter was so excited--Melissa & Doug have restored my faith in this company--Thank you so much
DO NOT buy fold & Go barn
Extremely poor quality. Splintering wood all over the barn , chipped paint, looks dreadful, even the handle which shouldn't have paint on it has paint finger marks, probably done by a preschooler.. I reached out to Melissa and Doug via FB and they were exceptionally rude telling me postage wasn't available... well how did I buy it in the first place ?! I live in Australia not the Antarctic. Will not purchase from them again
