Deva Spring Pull Out Mono Mixer Kitchen Tap purchased end of 2023 with 12-year guarantee.

Shortly after installation, a slow leak developed. Several engineer visits followed, including replacement of washers and pipes, but the issue continued and gradually caused damage to the kitchen cupboard.

After taking back the property in April 2026 and replacing the cupboard and pipework, the leak persisted and eventually required full replacement of the tap and associated fittings.

The tap was returned to the manufacturer for inspection. The report stated the cause was limescale and debris build-up within the cartridge and cartridge seat, preventing proper sealing. The issue was attributed to hard water and considered outside warranty cover.

In my experience, taps in the same property and hard water area have lasted many years without similar issues. I am sharing this timeline for transparency for other buyers in hard water areas.

Good afternoon,

The returned tap has been tested, and we have concluded that the leak was caused by a build-up of limescale and debris within the cartridge and cartridge seat.

During testing on our rig, we found that water was passing from beneath the cartridge when the tap was turned on. Upon further inspection, a significant build-up of limescale was identified within the cartridge and around the cartridge seat. As a result, the cartridge was unable to seal correctly, allowing water to pass down through the body of the tap.

As previously advised, the tap was installed in a hard water area. In line with our warranty guidelines, regular maintenance and cleaning are essential to ensure the ongoing performance of the tap, as well as preserving the quality of its exterior finish.

Please find attached images showing our findings. As the issue has been caused by external limescale build-up, we have determined that this is not a manufacturing fault and are therefore unable to offer a refund on the tap.

We can either arrange for the tap to be scrapped on your behalf, or you may organise a courier to collect the tap from our warehouse using reference .

Methven DTC37 bar mixer shower failed after 2 years, came with 5 year warranty.

Methven tried to blame hard water area then agreed to send out replacement cartridge for me to fit
They then said spares unavailable so no part sent

Methven put obstacles in way of replacement or repair under warranty

They do reply to emails but takes 48 hours, then another 48 hours for reply, then another 48 hours for reply etc.

So now 8 working days and no resolution to shower

Very frustrating and you buy new shower bar elsewhere as temp fix so can have shower

I bought a two different mixer taps from Toolstation and after a few months the swivel spout on one of the taps became loose. However, after a few communications with Methven a new tap arrived and I have to say I am very pleased with it and would definitely buy again. The other tap is still fine with no issues at all. I was very pleased with the level of service I recieved.

I recently ordered a set of spout seals, cost £5-99. It arrived by delivery driver at a cost of £12, double the cost of the spare, in a box full of brown paper. The spare pack could have been sent by post at far less cost , avoiding not only the cost to me but the eco cost in recycling and transport. Add to this the customer dissatisfaction and its been a bad day.

Superb customer service. The lady who dealt with our problem, Carolyn Myles, was friendly, so knowledgeable and actioned a response which solved our issue immediately. We had a special tool sent out and at no cost to us. Really impressive. Thank you!

Only company that stoked the correct tap valve.

The only gripe I have is the shipping cost. The items only weighed 95 grams and the package about 130 grams! For a package this weight you should use a Jiffy Bag and Royal Mail which would have cost about £5 instead of the £12 you charged me!

I purchased a kitchen tap manufactured by them in 2022, it was a second one as the first when installed dripped and I had to pay the plumber twice to install the replacement.

It went well for 2 years and then it started to leak black stuff from the tap which we did not know what this was. My wife has terminal health issue so we had to be careful.

I got in touch with Methven and sent the tap back to them for examination as they openly advertise 12 years guarantee.

I could not believe their excuses for the faults of the tap.

I live in a hard water area which has limescale build up on the valves and cartridge which are not covered under warranty, I should have maintained and serviced the tap. What service can be done on a tap?

It’s worse than the National Rail excuse of leaves on the rail and wrong type of snow. May I point out most areas in the UK has water other than soft and if their taps are not capable of handling different waters then they are not fit for purpose. Is like buying a car and shouldn’t be driven over certain road surfaces.



Anyway having sent back the tap, their Operations Director examined it and he promised they will replace the cartridge and refurbish it, that was on the 7th May 25 and since I have chased up via email and no response.

Buy kitchen taps but not if they are from Methven.
One star is too much for my review.

If you taps do not cover limescale and other corrosions then what does it actually cover for? A tap is versatile and should be able to be used with all types of water. Perhaps you need to revise your guarantee warranty period for 12 years, because this is misleading to your customers when it is not what you are actually covering. This construe as deliberate misleading.

The cartridge in my tap failed and the kitchen fitter couldn't find the receipt. I contacted Methven directly and they provided a new cartridge with instructions to fit which saved o vthe cost of a plumber. Very polite and exemplary customer service. Service this good is a rarity.. Well done.

Purchased a a Methven Aio shower head a few years ago - totally transformed my shower!! Not only does it look good but it’s by far the best shower head I’ve ever used and I certainly wouldn’t go back to anything else.

Recently it developed a fault and started leaking so I contacted Customer services was advised someone would contact me back within 48hrs and they did - Phoebe was great addressed the issues straight away and a replacement was sent out. Received a couple of days later and back to having a great shower again.

I can’t praise this company enough, not only are there products amazing but the customer service is too!!! Thank you.

I had a problem. Spare parts were provided, free of charge under warranty. I was supported throughout the whole process by the after sales team. The shower is now good as new. Would l purchase another Methven shower. Absolutely YES

Methvan wriggled out of there warranty obligations, stating," our assessment revealed significant limescale build-up," the taps were finally received and subsequently examined by an independent qualified plumber who concluded that limescale had not corroded the cartridge and contributed to the leak. External limescale was due to the leak caused by cartridge failure ( poor quality manufacturing ) Methvan lied regarding the return of the taps, someone was in at all times, however a delivery attempt was made at a completely different address by the courier, who eventually delivered after contact.

After seeking legal advice the taps were returned and a full refund obtained.

Taps leaked, trusted plumber looked at them, showed me where the o ring /cartridge had failed, poor manufacturing. Returned to Methven as under guarantee, chased, chased again two months later said not covered by guarantee due to limescale build up at the point where the leak was. Of course there would be, because the o ring / cartridge had failed! Asked for taps to be returned in order to pursue refund from retailer, taps never returned, may be lost!
