4 1/2 months and still waiting to complete my order!

Bought a Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 3 tent in mid June. The tent was advertised with a " free footprint". It's now November 4th and still waiting! This is just not a Mountains Plus problem.... apparently Big Agnes is "ground zero". Fed up with both of them!

Extremely helpful and very knowledgable.

Ordered a Thule Bike Rack that turned out to be out of stock (was an excellent price). There was no hassle with cancelling the order but I was bummed that i didn't get the deal. Well, the next day they called me and told me they found one so I ended up with a great deal and had it on my car within a few days (3-day shipping to make up for the lost time at no cost to me). They went way out of their way to make it happen.

For Me, a Newly Discovered Gem

I have been purchasing camping and backpacking gear for years. Until this last year, I was unaware of this business. While I have encountered another vendor is with wider selections, no one has beaten them on price and service. Sales coupons come frequently beating the best prices I can find on the Internet and my deliveries have come quickly and undamaged with good packaging.

Great price. Exactly as advertised.

Honestly, I expected to be surprised when my shipment arrived. I thought the item would be different than I saw on the site, or that it would take forever to receive, or that I would go through hell contacting the seller. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I was surprised, but only because the item was in fact brand new, as advertised, shipped immediately, and they answered my e-mail within hours. Go for it, these guys are the real deal.

Very happy with my overall shopping experience with Mountains Plus Outdoor Gear.

I was searching the net to find a good price on Stabil Icers. I found that and more at MPG. I got a good price, reasonable shipping charges and timely delivery. I haven't had the opportunity to try my Stabil Icers but they look like they will help to keep me "on my feet" in the snow and ice that we are sure to have here this winter.

awful buying experience

They don't have a good sense of their inventory - selling out of stock items. Then they don't even tell the customer that the shipment has been delayed. Every contact with their customer service about my order was initiated by me. No return calls, no emails. It makes me think everyone who works there got their position via nepotism - because their actions (or inactions) showed absolute lack of basic customer service.

UPDATE: If I hadn't been alerted that someone found my review helpful I would not have realized they edited reviews here that the company responded.

So here's my response to the Management of Mountains Plus:

The review I posted was regarding my second order (#MPG314119433), yet you responded about my first order (#MPG60111423).

The order you discussed was placed on 2/13/2014, which was received as is expected in any normal business transaction. That is the reason why, when it was stolen, I decided to buy a replacement and placed another order on 7/22/2014 (5 months later) for the exact same GoPro. THAT transaction went to hell and had to be cancelled on 7/28/2014 after days of trying to chase down MPG's so-called customer service team and finding out what happened to my order for which I paid the extra cost for expedited delivery.

Had I known that MPG can only get the first order right, I would never have placed a second order. I didn't realize MPG had some kind of ban against buying a second camera? Newsflash: things get stolen/lost/broken, and subsequently replaced all the time. Growing your business means making sure clients receive consistently good service that they would return and give you their repeat business.

Three months for in-stock items to be shipped

It took three months to get the order of in-stock items shipped. Numerous telephone calls all summer long did not resolve the reason for why the items were not shipping. I have never experienced such a delay before in my life. One campout after another passed by without the gear. Not good.

The items themselves were all excellent quality and functioned as desired. I would recommend the MSR products; I am just not sure how I can recommend Mountains Plus Outdoor Gear, even though they were as friendly as can be. The excessive delay just does not work for me.

Low price and great service.

This was my first purchase from mountain plus. They gave me the best price by far on my Yakima bike rack. I called after placing the order and wanted to insure I would receive it within 2 weeks for a trip.
They answered the phone immediately, looked up my order and told me they could make special arrangements to ship it out that night.

Great service. Highly recommend them.

didn't send the items promised

Awful experience. Advertised for a free sleeping pad with purchase of sleeping bag. Used the image of a specific pad, sent a cheap knockoff instead of the item pictured. After working with customer service and showing them screen captures of their promised items the company reply was "but gosh, that'd be really expensive for us to give away." They never changed the promotion, never added any additional disclaimer stating that the pad may not be there one pictured, never did anything to meet their advertised commitment.

Will never shop with them again.

Worst customer support in business and delay in shipping, avoid like a plague!

"This is without the doubt the worst outdoor shopping site on the internet: delayed shipment, unresponsive customer service and overall shady business.

I've put an order for a Big Agnes tent through their website, 5 days passes by and they are radio silent. No email, no notification what so ever whether they have shipped or even are preparing to ship it or not. I had to call their customer service 4 times (by online chat and phone) and they are not even shipping it yet. Their customer service just hangs up in the middle of the call without an explanation. They give hollow promises that they will ship tomorrow, but they don't.
I finally managed to cancel my order. I will never look back at their website.

They also spammed my inbox everyday sending their "amazing" deals. Don't give them your primary email. Just avoid them like a plague!

This customer attempted to commit credit card fraud on our website. Our Fraud prevention partners and credit card processor alerted us to this and the customer's order was placed on hold When we brought it to the customer's attention he naturally became belligerent and has since tried to ruin our reputation on multiple review sites.

The customer's information and a record of the transaction has been reported to local law enforcement and the appropriate credit card agencies have been notified.

We hope you can look past this review and recognize it for what it is. An act of retribution and attempt to ruin the reputation of a reputable company that strives to provide excellent service to all of our customers.

Be warned...Too bad a minus 5 rating isn't available or I'd use it

"Be warned...Too bad a minus 5 rating isn't available, or I'd use it, and that would be generous. I ordered 2 Big Agnes sleeping bags on July 1 for a trip I have planned for July 11. In-Stock was indicated on the web site (and still is as of July 9 2014, but in reality they ARE NOT IN STOCK). Opted to pay extra for speedier shipping (5 to 7 days). After 5 days of no order activity, I got in touch with customer service (Collin) on July 7. Was told order would be shipped directly from Big Agnes that day. Never happened. Got back in touch with customer service July 8. Same rep (Collin). Was told once again they would have Big Agnes ship today (July 8) expedited, and send me the tracking info via email. Never happened. Now here it is July 9, (8 days after the order was placed) I'm leaving in 2 days, and still nothing. I have placed 3 orders with Mountain Plus in little over 1 year. I got screwed over on 2 of the 3 orders due to false promises of speedy shipping. Never again! My advice to you, if you need something in a timely manner, save yourself some headaches and look elsewhere. "

Wonderful service, nice prices, great deals -- would definitely buy here again

We needed a Chariot Cougar 2 trailer/stroller with a bike attachment and we needed it in a relatively short time. After visiting local stores and checking the offers online, we found only a handful of stores that offered really good prices for this item. Mountains Plus was not the cheapest option (but it did have some nice coupons on offer), but any store that had a lower price did not actually have the item on hand (and one didn't even let you order) and we could not wait months for the new shipments to arrive. Mountains Plus had the stroller in stock, but not the bike attachment. They were flexible enough to offer to send each item separately, so they shipped the stroller the same day and we got it a day later. By then our time was running out and when the company was not able to get the bike attachment in time, they apologized, cancelled the order and reimbursed us for the price of the attachment immediately.
Overall, it was a great experience. I was able to use their live chat to talk to customer service on a daily basis and they were very nice and responsive. Everything was done very swiftly: processing the order, delivery time, cancelling the order and processing refund. It will definitely be one of the first places I look for sports equipment.
