Took forever to get back world coins.

Took forever to get back world coins.
Economy takes over 100 working days which is equivalent to 5 months!
I sent them in the first of March. It’s now end of June.
I called them they said they were graded, just waiting on the time ( 100 days) to run out.
What? Never again.

NGC customer service gets a ZERO!!!

Bought a set of 1956-1964 proof 68 pennies from a third party 7 years ago. (Bought these and many other coins for my retirement, put them in my closet for the time when I did retire). I HAD the chance to sell them today, after taking them out, I noticed a 1958 penny in my 1956 tamper proof coin holder. After a half a day on the phone, I was told by NGC that it was the 3rd parties fault!! HORSE FEATHERS!! The reputation of NGC is they HAND certify each coin under magnification, then, there is another step where several PEOPLE review the first, after they agree, it is sent to another PERSON, who makes the final decision. Soooo... How does 3-6 people miss the date on the coin???then to put it in the holder!!!!
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND IF YOU USE THEIR SERVICE, BE VERY CAREFUL, BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT RIGHT AFTER THEY SCREWED UP!!!
They blamed the 3 party for their mistake!!
PRETTY PATHETIC WHEN YOU HAVE TO BLAME SOMEONE ELSE FOR YOUR FAILURE.

After over 35 as a coin dealer in the UK and some dealing in the US, I have to say NGC, one of the best. I would say no better than the other top company, both deliver a great grading service and are excellent at spotting cleaned, or false coloured coins. The UK staff are very friendly, I deal with them over the phone, email and have met some at coin shows. I did once visit the US grading site in Sarasota, Florida, again very helpful staff. As far as coin graders go, they are perfect, but as far as customer service goes, they are the best. Of course, if I get a bad result I get frustrated, but I treat it as a learning experience and ensure I check better next time. They really have made the coin collection business much simpler and safer for everyone.

An utter shambles

I have been a professional UK coin dealer for 15 years and I can honestly say NGC haven't got a clue how to grade coins. I have had superb coins come back as details with 'obverse cleaned' or 'scratched' and I have seen other clearly scratched or cleaned coins given a grade. They have no idea how to grade English hammered coins and furthermore the Sheldon scale was never designed for this purpose. I purchased an expensive coin from another UK dealer which had been previously slabbed by NGC as AU58 and had been graded as part of the offering from a large auction, but then removed. At the point of sale my customer asked if I could get the coin graded and, obviously confident that it would grade, I agreed. NGC then insisted on giving it a details grade - reverse damage, and no amount of asking and providing evidence of images from the auction would change their mind, they also insisted on charging me for putting it in a details slab. So what are we paying for? Consistency - no, accuracy - no, a good service - no. If NGC themselves are unable grade the same coin as gradable and not gradeable there is no hope.

We'll never buy another NGC slab

We'll never buy another NGC slab. They are supposed to protect your investment but when their QR code generates an error and the hologram practically wipes off the case, the value of your slabbed coin goes DOWN - and they don't seem to understand this concept, which is worrying. Stick with PCGS.

I submitted coins for grading in 2024…

I submitted coins for grading in 2024 January to NGC at the Florida FUN show. I paid more than US$3,500 for the submissions by a check. Reviewing my credit card statement I found out NGC also charged that amount on my credit card. NGC refunded that amount in several transactions. I had to ask for line by line accounting to clear up thi mess, causing time and inonvenience. I asked not to use my credit card on file any more. However, I found out the organization of CCG ( Classical Collectbles Group)
where NGC belong to used my card again. They are
very arrogant and behave like they are God's gift to earth.

I submitted fifteen pieces of eight…

I submitted fifteen pieces of eight dated between 1750 to 1813. NGC received them on 7/31/24. Finally got them back on 1/13/25. I’m not a beginner to coin collecting. The 1813 had been cleaned from the company I bought it from but NGC graded it VF 25 and didn’t designate it as being cleaned. Eleven are designated cleaned and it’s very evident they haven’t been cleaned. Another is designated as having corrosion and there’s not a bit of corrosion on it. NGC needs Qualified graders and learn how to communicate . Won’t be using NGC again.

I have had a bad experience with NGC

I have had a bad experience with NGC. First, they promise to do their service within 10 days, but in reality it took 2-3 months (during that time I stupidly sent out a couple more packages for certification).
If this was some other service company and you agreed to do your service within 10 days and they did it within 3 months - how would you rate this company?
Second, they returned one coin ungraded and unwrapped. Their first response was "... However, we do offer an NCS (Numismatic Conservation Services) service to help remove this issue. Unless declined, we typically send an email with a recommendation and offer this service while the coin is in house. This was still a fair evaluation from our graders as they did take the time as requested to evaluate your coins." THEY DID TAKE THE TIME AS REQUESTED TO EVALUATE YOUR COIN. NGC refuses to refund money for a coin they did not grade or wrap. I am disgusted with their service and communication. But I will still demand that the money be returned to me for this coin. The bank will help me :) .... I DO NOT RECOMMEND cooperating with NGC. I bought a membership, paid more than $1000 for services, and they refuse to return $54 for unfinished work

Bought another ancient coin from NGC…

Bought another ancient coin from NGC lately, that was overgraded, which they almost always are, and put in their aweful plastic holders. Folks that really believes that NGC or other 'grading companies' are so important that they can't even trust at 'ungraded' coin are childish. Grading is subjective, especially the grading of ancient coins. The graded coins culture is spreading from US as a cancer, noone in Europe likes these companies. Say no, just say no to this BS, don't make them rich, it's a scam, nothing else.

Long term client here whom over the…

Long term client here whom over the years have sent 1,000's of coins, at the minimum 3,000 or more. This past year, the turnaround times while being posted on their website, without ever an update has became something they have ignored. Orders I am sending in this year seem to just set in their vaults with the same verbal excuse of --very busy, shows going on, we don't guarantee the turn-around times. How can you say this to a customer who's only concern is why we are not getting the level of service that is being promoted on their site and for what we pay our fees for. I also pay the annual membership fees, and still get this treatment. My orders have been delayed over and over again, regardless of the level of service and they currently have my last order based on 20 day turn, now has been 45 Business Days and not shipped yet.
They have not been very transparent about the real reason they run late and are lacking with customer service.
My only option now is to find a more reputable service to deal with. They have made me look bad with my customers for the last time. Ironically, I don't have any issues with their grading skills. The rest of it leaves much to be desired.

I have had NGC grade hundreds of coins for me. I have coins there now. They have had them since August. It is now Nov., 14th. When the coins were submitted the site said 42 days. I just looked today and now it says 66 days. It is just so wrong to treat customers like that. I just saw they are owned by the Blackstone group. Same people who had the guy in their comerical that shot President Trump. I am going to look for someone else to grade my coins for now on.

TARNISHED TRADE DOLLAR SENT BACK, SCAMMED OUT OF GRADING FEE

I sent a beautiful MS grade 1875 s Trade dollar to NGC on 9-16-24 for the Standard $40 grading service. Once the coin had been processed through the NGC networking, I was contacted and told I had to pay a fee of over $80 to conserve the coin, i.e. have the glue residue removed if I wanted anything other than graded details. So, I opted out and had it supposedly graded details. I was not informed that if I didn’t pay the $80 fee that not only would my coin be graded details but not even encapsulated. One week later when it arrived back in the mail, I found my coin with a grade of **NOT ENCAPSULATED GLUE RESIDUE** sitting in a plastic flip tarnishing for over a month. I guess this is NGC’s new quality of grading service. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Very bad experience!!!

Very bad experience! NGC refuses to refund me the fee that was mistakenly charged and only suggest to apply it as a credit for for future submissions.
But I am not planning any submissions in future since their service is unprofessional and unreliable!

Grading failure with refusal to consider evidence of authenticity

I had a very high grade 1998-D Washington Quarter - likely near or top population - sold to me by a reputable, NGC-authorized dealer who provided assurances and evidence the coin came directly from a U.S. Mint set. I have the video to prove it.

I submitted it for grading with a sworn statement to its authenticity, and offered to provide the video and evidence of the coin’s authenticity. NGC disregarded what I offered, ignored my sworn statement, and graded it “UNC Details - Artificial Toning.” The coin, at MS67 is worth over $220, and at MS68 it’s over $2,000. With “UNC Details” it’s worth 55 cents!

When I inquired, they said it was the grader’s opinion, admitted to not considering my sworn statement, and refused to consider the video evidence. Their solution: re-submit it for grade review. This will, of course, cost more, and they said on grade review, they would not consider my sworn statement nor any evidence supporting a straight grade.

I’ve heard rumors of population control by NGC. I hope that wasn’t the case here. But at a minimum, NGC failed to consider everything about this coin before giving a “Details” grade.

NGC represents itself as the top coin grader, as well as working to protect the integrity of numismatics. I disagree, and this experience supports my disagreement.

I didn’t give a 1-star because the customer service representative I spoke to was understanding of my frustration, despite not being able to do anything about the situation.
