$309 Charged Despite Same-Day Cancellation
I booked a rental through Priceline and, after reading reviews about other customers' experiences, I became concerned about potential issues and decided to cancel the reservation the very same day I made it.
I never picked up the vehicle, never signed a rental agreement, and never used any services. Despite canceling almost immediately after booking, I later learned that the reservation was completely non-refundable and the entire $309.48 charge was kept.
I understand that these were the terms of the booking, but I was surprised that there was absolutely no grace period, no partial refund, and no consideration for a reservation that was canceled the same day it was made and never used.
My advice to anyone considering an Express Deal rental is to read every detail of the cancellation policy before booking. If you change your mind even a few hours later, you may lose the entire amount.
Cannot reschedule if something goes wrong
Quickly after I booked my trip, my flight was moved up so I needed to reschedule my reservation to reflect the new change. I emailed them back when that was a thing you could do and they said I could not request if the trip was more than two weeks out (my trip was still a good 3 or so months out I would think the earlier you request the better). So I waited until two weeks out and I tried calling since I could no longer send a new email. They hung up on me after 10 minutes on hold so I responded to the old email instead. FOUR DAYS LATER, they said there are no earlier slots available (I WONDER WHY) and mistyped my information and request like they did not even know what my reservation was. Can't get a refund and can't even cancel on expedia. This company is a joke.
Ripoff Rental company
My reservation price was 253.74 and I ended up paying 483.15. Strong arm sales for uneeded insurance that I was told was not covered by my AMEX Reserve and or my Auto Insurance. This location is very far from the terminal, so not really able to cancel and change.There are other charges for Cust Facility/ Trip. Overall a total rip off compared to legacy car rental companies. I would avoid this place and will never consider it again.

I found what I thought was a great deal on a rental car. It was literally less than 1/4 the cost of most others. Our plan was to pick up the rental in Denver, drive to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, then return to Denver 5 days later. When I got to the nu car rental counter, the agent (terrible interpersonal skills, zero stars out of five) told me they couldn’t rent the car to me because they only allow their vehicle to travel into neighboring states only. I won’t be using nu car rentals again.
loss damage waiver lied to and deceived
I stated 3 times i did not want the insurance, then when it came to signing the documents i was told it would be waived when the car was returned.
i have attempted to resolve this but keep getting the run around. i asked if i could speak to a manager at the Denver location and i was told they don't have a phone there. I see several others have had this issue as well they must train the employees to do this. i was told they have audio and video of every transaction i nor my bank can get a copy.
I had a very disappointing experience…
I had a very disappointing experience with NU Car Rentals at their Denver location. The vehicle I received was not provided with a full tank of gas, despite the contract clearly stating that it would be.
Because of this, I was forced to stop and refuel immediately late at night on my way up the mountain, alone with three young children, which was both stressful and completely avoidable. I have documentation showing I purchased gas the same day as pickup.
Despite providing proof and explaining the situation to customer service, my claim was dismissed with no accountability. I still returned the vehicle with a full tank as required, yet was left covering the cost of their mistake.
This lack of transparency, poor customer service, and disregard for customer safety is unacceptable. I would strongly recommend choosing a different rental company to avoid similar issues.
Please do not use this rental company
Please do not use this rental company. I just had a horrible experience with them regarding the extra charges on the rental agreement that were never explained to me. And the underhanded way they get you to pay $400 for insurance. My original rental price was $76.95. Final cost $481.55 Plus the $400 for the insurance, the cost of which was never revealed to me. $841.55. That's a lot higher than $76.95 for 3 days. I'm a nobody, but I'll tell everyone I know not to use this company. Maybe this will save one person from going through what I'm going through.
Just where are the shuttle buses
There was construction out at the airport and it was not very clear where shuttle pick-up was. I was concerned that I would be late for my car reservation and was not sure I was in the right area. I called NU and got Adeel. He assured me that my reservation would be good and confirmed the location of the shuttle bus. He even followed up with me to make sure I was on the bus and enroute. He was kind courteous and proactive to my situation. My vehicle was also upgraded to my surprise!
His professionalism is greatly appreciated!

Straight Up Scammers
Rental company seemed fine up front. I had prepaid through Priceline for $226.30 and then at the counter paid $86.95 for the taxes and fees stuff. Trip happened at the end of May of 2025.
In June 2025, had a random charge for $31.25 which I figured was for the stupid toll in and out of the airport. No biggie.
Then end of July 2025 I get a charge for $64.15. I had disputed it through my bank but they came back and said it was legit. I reached out to Nu and they said it was the remaining toll and admin fee. Fine whatever.
Suddenly March 2026 I get some collection notice in the mail for $183 and change stating it was pertaining to either a rental agreement or the car being in an accident. Wtf. I was never in a flipping accident and why would you try and charge me almost year later for what exactly?? This company is absolute bullshit so stay far away

-10. The worst experience with a car rental place. Do not go to this place. I rented a car through Priceline . By the time I got to check in I had to pay 💰 for extras like vehicle damage waiver. If I didn’t accept it I would be refused a car. This was at Denver, Colorado airport!

Terrible service
Terrible service. They should know when customers are arriving and staff accordingly. 10 people in line, one agent. 1 hour queue just to get to the counter. Unless you have all day, avoid NU like the plague.

I was charged for Loss Damage Waiver…
I was charged for Loss Damage Waiver and Roadside Assistance when I specifically said I didn't want it and challenged it on the contract. Then when I called to dispute the charges they "pretended" to look into it by putting me on hold and then saying "Sorry, you signed the contract so there's nothing I can do". Crooks with unethical business practices. Renters beware!

Loss Damage Waiver means PURCHASE
Loss Damage Waiver is actually to PURCHASE not Waive the insurance. We were charged an additional $237.93 for insurance that we did not want. All the other spots for initials on the contract are for declining the additional services. We expressed our desire to not have the insurance coverage through NU Car and the rental agent Michelle had us initial the waiver which to us was to DECLINE the coverage. That's what waive means...to decline. Very deceptive practice. We contacted NU Car when we returned from our vacation and the final amount posted to our credit card. The response was that the reservation was closed and there was nothing else to be done. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Stay away
We had a horrible experience from beginning to end. Started by having to wait for a shuttle to take us to the rental car location (far away from airport) for almost 2 hours- while it was snowing. The company promised there would be shuttles every 15 min- more like once an hour. A shuttle came after an hour but only had room for about 3 people. The line got so long there wasn’t even enough room on the platform for people to wait. There were about 50 angry people waiting for this company’s shuttle and the line kept growing. There was also not an organized line just a random sign and people were getting angry with each other about who was next. After finally arriving at rental place, there was another 2 hour wait to talk to a sales rep who would insist you had to upgrade to an suv because it wouldn’t be safe to drive a sedan. Then about a dozen hidden fees they basically insist upon. Returning was also a joke and they charged for damage that wasn’t even caused by us and we have photos. Most, if not all, license plates are from Utah. The price ended up being 5x what a reputable, trusted company was charging. The whole process was a headache and I will never rent from them again.

I arrived 90 minutes early after…
I arrived 90 minutes early after catching an earlier flight. Agent informed me that I would have to add $120 to my $140 reservation to pick my car up early, even though it was just sitting there! Come on! If you want to compete with Hertz and Avis, do more than just being cheaper!

Don't use NU
This company comments on negative reviews like they "care" the truth is they are going to scam you. I was scammed for 3 times the agreed upon amount. Falsifying documents is their forte.

This place is a major scam
This place is a major scam. I booked through a third party and even paid for insurance. When we got there the guy at the desk tried to charge me an additional $274 on Colorado taxes then I asked for a print out and a copy of charges and he was saying the charges are just “taxes and stuff”

On 30 Sept25 we rented a car we drove…
On 30 Sept25 we rented a car we drove it maybe 5 miles and had to bring it back because of making a loud noise. And also we did not get the option for prepaid fuel or not. The lady said the fuel was 2.74 a gal and when we received the paperwork it said it was 2.90 when I asked about it, the lady said that is just the way it is. So we had to bring the car back because of the noise. The Second Lady was really nice and took off the fuel charge. We got in the car and it was also making the same noise as the first car. When we got to our destination I looked at the car and the tires were not in good condition the belts was separating from the wheel. So we did not drive it until it was time to come back to drop it back to you. Also we were told we had to get the toll pass for 83.93 because there were several tolls. We had to go through 2 tolls. 1 leaving the airport and 1 coming back to drop the car off that was only about 5..00 each way.

Same issues as everyone else
Like all the other reviews, insurance and other fees caused our rental to increase from $381 advertised on Expedia to $664. This was after I asked why the price was so high and to remove insurances because my credit card covered them. Shame on me for not looking more closely…
