Very possibly the worst company I have ever had to deal with. My experiences: 1) Parkers will tell you an item is in stock in Canterbury, and yet when you go to collect it is at their other site 100 miles away. 2) It is next to impossible to get a refund from accounts, they will mess you around, fail to return calls and re-order the item. 3) The shop staff are confrontational (I asked why and they told me they are so badly treated they treat the customers as they get treated by the family/management) 4) The nonsense of high-viz, boots and hard hat to collect. I understand H&S but this is ridiculous overkill. Why is there not a safe despatch area. and finally 5) Pricing that seems to be 2x everyone else.
I repeat, I use a lot of engineering suppliers. This is without fail, the very worst company I have ever dealt with.

Absolutely shocking service!
How on earth they have any customers is beyond me.
We’ve been messed around for ten days about our delivery.
Even if this was the last steel distributor in the UK I’d find someone else to use.

Have used Parker Steel for over 20 years but lately not good . Website bad same item ordered and £450 dearer in 3 months and told do not stock bright steel any more
Very disappointed

Very good drivers and products are good. But organisation and timings are terrible. Delivered part of the order 3 weeks later than they were supposed to, constantly getting told they are due and they didn't turn up, then turning up randomly during the week without notice so no one's home. Was told they couldn't drill 2 holes in a steel as its not longer on the production line and in their yard now. So I'd need to buy a new steel and then they'd put the holes in it?

Cannot believe Customer service is there one?? emailed 3 times and spoke to one person asking for a vat invoice not hard so i thought..............

Terrible service terrible quality

No follow up device when it went wrong and my order was 3 weeks late!

I work for a large organisation that recently did business with this company. My point of contact was Damien Wickenden from the Wisbech branch and I cannot praise this man enough for his friendliness and dedication to ensuing each query I raised was dealt with quickly and efficiently. The whole experience with this individual was proof he is a great ambassador for this company and I hope that I have the pleasure of dealing with him and them soon.
Give that man a pay rise!!

shocking service and don't want customers,

went into Canterbury shop first time ever to order £250 worth of steel, not greeted, waited for ever, then told it will be very expensive as a walk in and told i should ring up instead!!!!! next day i call them, tell them what i am after, they then hang up, i call again new person answers, give them my order and told they will call me back same day with a price! they never did! just wow, how can a business be that awful.

Absolutely shockingly poor service. The full order of 3 simple H beams with some holes and 4 plates was due to be delivered 2 weeks ago. Had to refuse delivery 3 times due to being wrong. Delivery dates missed. Tech drawing supplied multiple time and still unable to get the order right, and charged a lot based on retrospectively speaking to others who have used them and laughed at us to using Parker Steel. The founder John Parker must be turning in his grave. ISO 9001 cert not worth the paper it's written on! Oh, still waiting for the order to be completed!!

We use Parkers as they can cut and punch the steels directly from NC files which leaves us just having to weld. Much faster and efficient.

Parker Steel. Poor quality steel, never kept delivery dates, terrible customer service. We stopped using them and they are still calling us several times a week asking for another chance. They have been told several times we are not interested. Because reception has been gatekeeping them they have tried to get through by not giving a surname or a company name and pretending to be a friend of the buyer(s). I would give them 0 stars if I could, they are a joke.

Never trust this company with the lead time they will promise you. I was confirmed delivery of simple ERW tubes for 5/7. Rang them 6/7 got promise of delivery for 9/7. Nothing. Rang again 10/7 was promised delivery for 12/7. nothing. Rang 13/7 was promised delivery 16/7. The most frustrating experience ever. Use Industrial Metal or Kloeckner instead. Avoid.

Ordered steel through Parker Steel's online website. Items competitively priced and delivered promptly. But of the metal was very obviously damaged. So much so that it should not have been sent out for delivery. Damage noted on the delivery slip.

Told to reorder the item and the damaged piece would be collected. The reordered item was not delivered on the scheduled date because the delivery had been put to the back of the queue.

Conclusion. Poor quality control compounded by poor customer service on the reordered item. In my experience, correcting mistakes was obviously not a priority for this company.
