They appeared at the top of a Google search and I made the mistake of calling them out to fix a door that wouldn’t open. I was given a quote for the call out of 49 pounds but not told about the cost of the job. When the person arrived, I was told about the parts needed which turned out to be exorbitant. I felt unable to do anything about it as the lock had already been taken off the door. When the person returned, having gone away to purchase these parts, I was then offered a choice of an additional lock which was needed for the door or a cheaper, less effective alternative. I was not told about this beforehand and I also found out that a 20 per cent charge was also added to the bill because it was the weekend. Again, this was not told to me in advance. The final bill came to over 838 pounds for call out fee, labour and parts. My door and door frame was also damaged by the locksmith when carrying out the work. The mess left behind was also not cleared up. I phoned the company to complain and the person at the end of the phone was rude and evasive. The company’s website mentioned on the invoice does not exist. I have been left feeling sickened by the experience and have contacted the Trading Standards Authority. I am also contacting Citizens Advice and my MP. I advise everyone who has had a bad experience to do the same.

This Company give the impression that they are local with 47 years experience.
They are NOT.
They are countrywide with mobile staff.
I was told half hour which turned out to be over an hour.
He drilled the lock and used a hammer to open the door. Fitted a very basic lock and charged well over £300.
They appear at the top of the search list.
I should have been alert when the initial answer is an American recorded message.
Always make sure you are speaking to a local person.

Absolutely scam honestly! Taking advantage of people in need as they’re the first ones that come up on google so people in a panic call them and they won’t give a quote over the phone. I got charged £500 for a new lock alone (without any installation fees) for a lock that costs £200-300. Purely just taking advantage of people. Truly exploitive behaviour

Refused to give any clarity of what costs might be over the phone, then charged £60 for call out. My elderly mother refused to pay the over £400 that the man she had to paid to come quoted her to fit a simple lock on an internal wooden door. He left annoyed and without putting back the door handle that he had unscrewed. These people are there to exploit you. Do not use prestigelocksmiths24.

Scammers ripped off my elderly neighbours telling them it would be in the region of £300ish to replace a euro barrel in a upvc conservatory door, after locking themselves out prestige finally charged them £982.20p, they were there all of 10-15 min asked for a receipt and was told to F… off unbelievable

Locksmiths who take advantage of a situation, not giving you a true idea of their costs essentially leave you feeling robbed as well as locked out as we did. They charged a call out on top of the removal fee so from £120 the bill jumped to over £325.
Everything they offered to fit was x5 the retail price.

Don't use one appearing at the top of the search engine as we did-they have paid a premium to rip you off! Check a trade may be a safer bet, its just that i did not see their replies in time.
