Very kind, personable and helpful. Considered lending and the one time in years that I was unable to make a payment, my rep was so kind and customer services very reasonable and accommodating. For me, a very important part of my budgeting. Great company.

Well been with provendent for yrs.. Owe less then 400 and payin 20 a wk made comment about sum1 talkin about my arrears im mu entrance hall still waitin.. Yet due a review of my momey thin again yet hasnt change told them this they must think ive won the lottery and vam pay more bloodu stupid.. Yet they take ages to sort a complaint out.. I hot told by a area manager that they are allowed to tell u about ur arrears so might aa well put it on paper's seriously wrong my entrance hall echoes i live in flats.. Shouldmt give ppl loans if they struggle but they don't care its money.. Just coz they change how they do things doesnt stop the fact they let us have the loans with checkin.. Plus u can say i have anythin comin in they dont check bloody stupid.. Will not recommend a friend the area managers are rude when ur in arrears

Always paid on time but every time tried to get another loan get declined been with this company for years they are rubbish now just wasted 20 mins off my time will Never use them again !!!!!

So funny how i read the other reviews and another customer has had the same issue with Shannon in head office. Rude, Unprofessional, huffing and puffing while speaking to you.Explained going for surgery and she pretty much demanded to know what surgery which i advised i didn't need to disclose this information. For years i have never had issues with them. But since all the changes ( for the worst ) i will never ever use this appauling company again.!!!! i cant wait till i have paid them off. Disgusting company, as as with other reviews on here i too was thought id conslidated my loans as was told the same speel only x amount more a week, but it wasnt it was another loan and due to circumstances changing the payments are too high you ask for help and no help given. STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY.

Atrocious service

Been a customer of PROVIDENT since almost 11 years always paid ontime and repaid everything back had lovely customer service with some kind PROVIDENT manager's. HOWEVER on this occasion i have been let down TWICE with a very poor standard of service delivered by PROVIDENT .I will not be recommending PROVIDENT to my friends or family in the future let alone take out a loan for myself .Very unprofessional Of Shannon . Despite COMPLAINING to PROVIDENT about this individual who works in her own terms and expects customers like me to be waiting around on her all day and she never arrives forget communicating . i do not think PROVIDENT would do anything further to look into this matter . Ill have to look for another lender Very upset and disappointed customer

At first provident was great, I took out a loan to boost my credit rating.

But then as I actually needed the loan due to change in circumstances.

My rep started offering me new higher loans, which meant that most of my loans were taken out to pay the rest of my loans. They aren't explained properly, only in terms of "oh it'll only be an extra £2 a week"

Disappointed with the company, I know alot of people this has also happened to and are now in serious debt.

STAY AWAY

Never been in contact with these guys, never enquired or evwn considered using theseloan sharks. I always select from businesses to not receive marketing etc but somehow these crooks got my personal details and keep mailing me. Mail order crooks in my opinion.

Word to the wise , check your record on CIFAS , I and a lot of other people are finding markers from them saying we applied when we didn't

I have had a faultless 5 years with Provident, then last year the storm broke and they decided to change for the worse!
The agents who call to collect the payments are very rude, do not call on the day or time you asked for, the interest rate has gone up as they clearly want more money earned from peoples misfortune and they have no clue how to conduct themselves with customers at all!!
I switched to making regular payments over the phone by card as i couldn't stand the door calls, and constant grief from that company.
They even stooped to phoning my 11 year old Son's phone to ask for my payment!
Can you believe that?
Never will I take out a loan with these SHARKS again, take my advise, stay well away from Provident, they are bad news!!!!

Had a very good experience with provident for the first couple of years during this time we had two agents which were brilliant then they left and then it went downhill bafly had about 4 to 5 diffrent people at my door now and not one has turned up again then I get calls from head office saying that I could of done more I had to wait in all day for them just not to turn up canceling important stuff they don't fill in the payment books properly and very unorganized would definitely avoid like the plague!

This company is absolutely vile. Both customers and potential new employees need to avoid it like the plague. Where shall we start... first of all they are irresponsibly lending to there customers. I have worked in finance for over 7 years and have never come across a company who just care about their profit, even if it means putting customers in arrears. They will lend to customers knowing they cant make their repayments and then charge them more in arrear fees. Also I have seen Customer Experience Managers (self employed agents as they use to be called) fabricate loan applications to meet ‘Exceptions’ or shall we say unreasonable ‘Targets’. The company has such a poor management structure with everyone out for themselves, NO TEAM WORK AT ALL! I left a very well known finance company to join Provident as I was promised a fantastic job with excellent benefits and customer satisfaction and that was not the case. I am now unemployed as no finance company will employee me having worked for Provident. THEY ARE LOAN SHARKS, they do not care about their customers nor there employees. It has been over 4 months since I was dismissed from the company and I can honestly say they have ruined not only my life but my career.

I’ve been a customer with provident for over a decade now and until now have thought them to be good and understanding when I struggled to make payments after losing my job a few years ago. I was therefore happy to take out a loan with them in June last yeAr. I work nights so I asked for my collections to be in the evenings which the agent agreed would be fine However I wasn’t contacted again for nearly 3 months then when they did eventually Come to start collecting payments they always came noon to early afternoon and would be quite persistent about knocking at the door, the few times I did managed to answer the door they hadn’t provided a payment book so I asked them to send it to me before I could make payments to people who knocked at my door. 3 months after getting the loan I eventually got a payment book, I then made weekly payments. However continually got letters saying I was in arrears and that I had failed to pay on home visits which hadn’t been made, this was very upsetting as I have tried very hard to make regular payments. It’s not my fault they hadn’t bothered to come and collect my payments, good customer relationships clearly don’t matter to them anymore

Really awful company.. just joined them and the agent didn't turn up.. then hey sent a really rude from the hood agent...???? he keeps banging my door and harassing me even on days when he isn't suppose to. they get you in arrears then use scare tactics... doesn't work with me.... now i just wave through the window... won't be intimidated in my own home !!! Rude man who thinks its ok to be rude to my children and keep popping cards threw my door ...

The online account creation doesn't work so I need to go into a branch, but that isn't too big of a deal; however it is annoying that I have to find time during my work day to do it when an online alternative exists. I called in on a Sunday, but they couldn't help me, so they said a specialist would call me to set up my account on Monday. He called, and he was very impatient. I was at work, and I needed to go to a separate room where I wouldn't interrupt other people's work by talking on the phone. I told him my problem with the online account creation, and how did he respond? "What is your question!?" He said it with all the attitude in the world, he had been on the phone with me for less than a minute, I explained my situation articulately and clearly, but apparently I'm a jerk. He then explained to me that he can't help me create the account, so I realize I can't get help from this guy, but before I can say anything else, he hangs up on me. Unacceptable.

Have been a loyal customer for nearly 21 years but since the changes I have not been treated well at all.I have been paying on line as no one has collected since October 6 no book signed in that time ,they clearly don't want customers like me any more very disappointed

They work for both me and mam. Shocked yee all have a problem with them

Absolutely terrible have had ongoing issues with them from August. I paid by card monthly for the past two years and everything ran fine. I wad told back in october account two weeks in arrers the same amount being paid by card for the last two years and was never informed. Put complaint im never heard had to keep chasing them to get anywhere. Customer service call centre do not seem to communicate with the agents they have collecting. Crazy company customer service well done the tubes would never use them again.

Absolutely the worst.. seriously I've been with them for 5 year nw and only use them for Xmas for kids this year nothing everytime I ask they say nothing available yet every week well I work full time over 40 hrs pw my circumstances have not changed its provident there goin down hill and not stopping absolutely terrible

I had a faultless 4 year relationship with this company and a fantastic agent. As many have said previously, the company underwent changes which resulted in my agent resigning.

I now have incorrect information on my credit file and various members of staff calling or knocking on my door whenever they like even though I have paid in exactly the same way for 4 years.

My official complaint is still unresolved 4 months on and has been referred to the Financial Ombudsman. Ironically, the Ombudsman are struggling to get information out of Provident too!

I don't think Provident in it's current incarnation will be around much longer.

The worst company to work for and do business with. They have no work ethics and claim that they are a 'responsible lender' and 'lend a helping hand when others don't'. Liars they only lend a hand to ensure that they achieve their targets even if it means putting people into debt.

This Xmas they will push vulnerable customers who are already struggling with debt to renew their existing loans or take out new loans so that they can achieve their targets, is this responsible lending?

And for those customers who genuinely need help they decline because they choose to due to personal reasons putting aside their professional responsibilities.

I say all of this as I am an ex employee of Provident and know how they work and how they treat its staff and customers.

They don't treat their staff any better which is why I ended up leaving, management are unprofessional and turn business matters into personal issues and mistreat you because they believe they have the authority to do so.

There are other responsible lender's out there, take the time to choose wisely.
