We are sorry to see this review following the recent disagreement regarding the price of your move.
This was not the customer’s first experience with Reds Removals. We had previously carried out a move for the customer, and they chose to use our services again for this move.
We would like to clarify that the arrangements for the move were significantly changed at the customer’s request. The original agreement was for Reds Removals to professionally load the belongings into our removal vehicle, transport them to the customer’s chosen storage facility and unload them into storage.
At approximately 11pm on the night before the move was due to take place, the customer changed these arrangements. Rather than Reds Removals transporting and unloading the belongings into storage as agreed, a family member would load them into a privately hired vehicle and transport them approximately 300 miles to Brighton. We continued to assist by bringing the belongings out to the vehicle.
Before arriving, we had specifically advised that Reds Removals would not professionally load or secure the privately hired vehicle. The loading, securing and onward transportation were therefore undertaken by the family member, and we cannot accept responsibility for how the belongings were loaded, secured or transported during that journey.
Our normal service uses a combination of shrink-wrap, specialist protective covers and removal blankets as required, with additional transit protection applied when furniture is professionally loaded into our removal vehicles.
The review also refers to damaged items. At the time of writing this response, no details or photographs of any alleged damage have been provided to Reds Removals, despite extensive correspondence regarding the customer’s concerns.
The price was a fixed, all-inclusive price agreed before the move commenced following discussions with the customer. It included a full packing service, the removal itself, and the specialist dismantling, collection and delivery of a 7ft slate-bed pool table, which was carried out by a specialist pool table company. The work was also carried out over a Bank Holiday weekend.
Despite the significant last-minute change to the arrangements, the agreed price did not increase by a single penny. It was not an hourly or daily rate.
We take complaints seriously and have responded directly and in detail to the concerns raised. While we are disappointed that we have been unable to reach an agreement, we stand by the service provided and the explanations given.
