Mooi kwalitatieve katana gekocht, snelle levering en goed advies gehad

Ik ben ontzettend tevreden over mijn ervaring met Samurai Katana Shop. De service was uitstekend: vriendelijk, professioneel en zeer behulpzaam bij al mijn vragen. Je merkt meteen dat er veel kennis en passie achter zit.

Daarnaast heb ik een prachtige antieke katana uit de Edo-periode aangeschaft, en die heeft mijn verwachtingen echt overtroffen. De kwaliteit, details en authenticiteit zijn indrukwekkend.

Zeker een aanrader voor liefhebbers en verzamelaars van Japanse zwaarden!

Seller sends me a completely dull, unsharp sword, denies the flaw, refuses to refund me if I ship back, says he can't see the videos when I send the proofs. He stopped answering my calls and messages. He is known to scam people with non-conform products and deleted all the bad reviews exposing his scam. He certainly wrote all the good, fake reviews himself on his website. His name is Jordy Klaver. Avoid him at all costs.

Snelle levering. Toen bleek dat het handvat te klein was voor mijn hand heb ik het product moeiteloos terug kunnen sturen en het geld (incl. verzendkosten) was snel terugbetaald door de shop.

As a long-time collector of Nihonto, I recently came across a Wakizashi being offered by this dealer for €18,500. The blade is described as an Edo-period piece (Kanbun era), signed by Harima Daijo Fujiwara Shigetaka, second generation. It features a gold-inlaid Tameshigiri inscription (Kinzogan Mei) and comes with a NBTHK Hozon certificate.

The presentation is polished and filled with emotional keywords like “Samurai test,” “Futatsu-do,” “gold inlay,” “rare,” and so on. At first glance, it may seem impressive to someone unfamiliar with the market.

However, after comparing similar blades across well-established dealers such as Aoi Art, Samurai Store, and others in Japan, a very different picture emerges:

Comparable Wakizashi by the same smith (2nd gen Shigetaka), also with NBTHK Hozon and even gold test inscriptions, typically sell for between €3,000 and €6,000.
Even high-quality Katana with the same signature rarely exceed €7,500–€8,000.

From a collector’s point of view, asking €18,500 for this Wakizashi is simply unjustifiable. It doesn’t have a higher-level certificate (like Tokubetsu Hozon or Juyo Token), nor any extraordinary provenance that would place it in such a price range.

To be clear:
An NBTHK Hozon certificate is a basic level of authentication. It confirms that the blade is genuine, but says nothing about rarity or artistic value. It is standard in the world of legitimate sword collecting.

To me, this listing appears to be aimed not at seasoned collectors, but rather at buyers with little or no market insight – the kind who might be swayed by terminology, visual flair, or the word “gold.”

If you’re considering buying a Japanese sword, I strongly recommend comparing prices across trusted Japanese dealers before making any decisions.

Jordy is een man met kennis over de materie die je graag verder helpt met de juiste keuzes en mogelijke vragen over katana's en zwaarden. Ik kocht er een Tamagahane Bamboo Katana en kreeg er waar voor mij geld!

De bezorging was iets vertraagd omdat Postnl het adres met als toevoeging 9h niet herkende( ....) Ik heb de shop gebeld en het hersteld, gisteravond de Katana en standaard ontvangen. Heeft nu een mooi plekje bovenop de boekenkast. Dit is de eerste keer dat ik iets bij de Katanashop bestelde en ben uiterst tevreden over de bezorging en de produkten. Bedankt voor de bijgevoegde foedraal.

Snel geleverd. Zeer tevreden met het product. En van eerdere bestellingen was de afhandeling ook super!!!

I was very pleased with the product, it is well crafted. The seller was very polite when i changed my delivery adress and understood exactly what i told him. I will surely buy more.

The first time i ordered here i bought a Wakizashi forged by Eccgu Kami Kanekuni that was made around 1744-1748. it arrived a bit less than 2 days later in perfect condition. After that i decided to order more. i ordered a Paper crane Katana, a Naginata and a few fittings for Katana swords. A day later i recived an email saying that the Naginata is out of stock and that the paper crane katana that was in stock had a few manufacturing errors and that he wasnt comfortable sending it out like this. We then made a Deal where i got a Oni Katana instead and then payed a lil bit extra to get a Sue Bizen Katana that was forged in the Muromachi period. in the end i got a great deal out of it. He didnt have to tell me that the Paper crane katana had an error, but he did anyway. i ll be happy to order there in the future again.

I contacted this store about their helms (just for maintenance info). Got and got a response.

Later I bought 2 swords (iaito and wakizashi). Neither of them was in stock (the website doesn't show that for some reason).

Anyways, the store contacted me, and I agreed to wait until they are available. I've received the swords today. Pretty happy with both.

No complaints beyond the delay after purchase.
