The agent reduced the valuation by £2,352 because there was a missing service in the vehicle's history.
I completely accept that service history is an important factor when valuing a car. However, this should form part of the initial online valuation process. Had I been asked about the service history upfront, I could have avoided making a completely wasted journey.
The issue wasn't the valuation itself – it was being given an indicative price that didn't properly take into account information that should have been requested before I attended the appointment.

The online valuation is an guide price and is subject to a full appraisal and document check at the appointment. The valuation is based on certain assumptions, which are outlined on our website, including the assumption that the vehicle has a full service and ownership history.
We appreciate that the final valuation may therefore differ from the initial online guide price following an in-person assessment.

Very disappointed
Very disappointed. Got a price lock for my car and booked an appointment. When I turned up they looked at the car which was exactly as described. No issues with car with 2 keys and no previous owners (bought from new).
They turned round to me and said we can offer you £2000 less for car than given in the price lock. Absolutely disgusted and a complete waste of time and effort. Please beware.

We understand your frustration when the figure discussed online differs from the offer made following an in-person appraisal. However, our online valuations are based on information available at the time and are subject to a physical inspection of the vehicle and a review of the current market.
When appraising a vehicle, our buyers have to check live market data and current values on the day of the appointment. Market values can change, sometimes significantly, and the final trade value also takes into account factors such as current demand, comparable vehicles and the price the vehicle can realistically be sold for within the trade market.
