My plan price was increased 866.667%
My plan price increased from $9/month to $87/month (an 866% increase) without any notification.
I was not asked to confirm this new pricing before being charged.
I requested a full refund of the difference. I was offered a partial refund and a discount; I accepted the partial refund but declined the discount, as it does not address the issue.
For a price change of this magnitude, there should be clear communication and explicit customer approval.
I’m sharing this so other small business owners are aware, and I’m still hoping to resolve this directly with SendOwl leadership.
Reply to SendOwl's response: I did contact the email address you shared, but have not received a response. I am requesting a full refund of the difference in charges. I never received communication about the price increase. I did not authorize the amount I have been charged.
The first time I was charged the increased amount was in April 2025. You just admitted that customers were not informed of this until May 2025. That is completely unacceptable. I never received communication on this at all. A simple letter in the mail to your loyal customers or a necessary acceptance click would have been sufficient.
I took a screenshot of your reply with the date of May 2025 as proof of this response.

I am leaving SendOwl! Their rate hike of almost $100 a month was bad enough. But now I checked my pages where I make use of SendOwl, and they look like giant promotional ads for SendOwl, and my products are kind of coincidental. They have also now hijacked my webpages and added so much of their own stuff, my pages look like ads for them! If you are considering them, save yourself! Stay away!

Sendowl is a scam
Sendowl is a scam! I used it for 1 month and then cancelled my subscription. Every month they still charge me $39 USD. I have to keep telling my credit card company to dispute their charge!

SendOwl is dramatically more expensive…
SendOwl is dramatically more expensive than comparable fulfilment tools – our plan was up to 3'000% of what we'd pay with a competitor solution.
Upon contacting support, we were instead offered a per-order custom plan that would have increased the cost by factor 10 (so 30'000% higher than competitors).
SendOwl’s pricing feels completely detached from the actual value it provides, especially if you don't use features like file hosting or checkout. It's unfortunate that there’s no more suitable plan for businesses that only need simple license-key delivery.
On top of that, it's not possible to cancel the subscription in the account panel. The "close account" button only displays a discount offer, while actually closing the account requires emailing support. The account-closure process feels openly hostile to users.

I last used SendOwl in 2020
I last used SendOwl in 2020, when there was a free plan. I logged in today and was asked to provide a bank card to verify my identity, which I did.
I was then automatically placed on a 'Starter' plan at $39 without my consent. I’m sure their terms and conditions cover this somewhere, but on the page it clearly appears that entering your card details is only for identity verification—not to subscribe.
I can now see a pending charge of £27.70 on my account. I have closed my account and requested a refund. This is not a way to do business. If your product is good enough, you do not need to deceive your customers into subscriptions.

they raised their prices over 500% out of no where. do not recommend them when you can just find another website that offers the exact same thing at a fraction of the price. stay away from send owl.
I signed up believing I was only…
I signed up believing I was only getting a free trial, but I was unexpectedly charged $33 for a one-month subscription free trial without my consent. The checkout process was unclear, and I had no intention of paying for a full subscription.
Customer support has been unresponsive or slow to resolve the issue, making this feel like a scam. I strongly advise others to avoid this service unless you are prepared to risk unauthorized charges.

Still annoying pricing roll out... but good feature add
I'm another dissatisfied customer with the price increase. Pricing went from ~$30 per month to almost $1,000 per month with no tangible product improvements
Just a tragedy how they've treated their customer base. I'm looking into e-junkie and Gumroad as alternatives now
Edit: They added my long-requested feature request of locking Excels. I'm satisfied and will pay up

Less functionality for 5 times the price.
The recent price increase is crazy. I've been with SendOwl for over 10 years and they went from from $15 per month to $87 with hardly any notice. They have promised to add value, but so far there have been no new developments, infact, their portal has become slow and clunky and the reports now often fail to load. I'm going back to ejunkie for $7 per month.

I have been a long time user for years , until since a few months I have been starting to notice that I didn’t got any money from my sales anymore. When I checked what was going on now, I saw that sendowl has charged me instead of 9 euro a month 90(!!!!) euro a month??? 900% increase? Who in their sane mind at sendowl thought that was a great idea???
That’s even more than what I actually earn from selling a few digital licenses..
To be really honest I never saw any communication about this. Absolutely insane. But to be honest What is more insane and the thing that really bothers me, is that apparently a company like this can just charge this from your credit card without any given notice. Obvious to say I did cancel it immediately, and going to charge back these amounts. Let’s see how far this will get.

Dishonest behavior
Way overpriced. After their crazy price increase (without much notice), I had to pay over 10% of my income just for a simple API... it's not only stupid, it's plain dishonest.

So long, and thanks for all the price hikes
I’ve been with SendOwl for many years and loved the product when it was simple. They’ve added more and more features, some of which have been great, most of which I didn’t want or need. I was on the legacy pricing and I understand that prices have to go up. I run a small business myself. But to increase from $15 per month to $159 per month is grim and feels like gouging.
I have several problems with how this has been handled:
• SendOwl’s communication was the bare minimum and didn’t contain in the subject line anything useful such as “Please read — your prices are going up soon”. They hid it in “account migration” which is vague.
• It’s extremely ADHD unfriendly. I don’t expect the world to bend around me, but I do expect messaging to be obvious, frequent, and kind. I missed the original message and missed the fact that two payments of $159 had been taken. This is on me of course, but it wouldn’t hurt businesses to keep neurodiversity (and plain busyness) in mind.
• On reading the original email, we were told our accounts would be shifted to the cheapest plan we were eligible for. This was a flat-out lie because they shifted me straight onto the most expensive plan, despite the middle one being available. And had I realised it was happening, I’d have rejigged my account so I fit into the cheapest category.
• I’d have had no problem with the price increase if I’d been able to do the above. Prices rise. I get that. But this leaves a horrible taste for customers who have been loyal for a long time — it would have been super easy and smart to offer a special rate to long-term legacy customers because we’re the ones who helped you build your business.
• Why not create a plan for people who don’t want and need all the extra bells and whistles? I’ve seen replies from the company justifying the massive price hikes with all the shiny new features — I don’t want them. I just want what SendOwl was always best at: simple product and subscription sales and delivery.
I’m off to try out a competitor, which is a shame because I’ve loved SendOwl over the years.
This is a real masterclass in how not to treat existing customers.
