Anyone serious about running an eCommerce or online business should stay away from this criminal outfit marketplace that calls itself Seoclerks. I hired a freelancer from India to do some SEO marketing work on my Wordpress store. As always with me, I created an admin access for the freelancer so as to enable him do his job with unhindered access. The guy did not only went and crashed my store by making unauthorised changes me and him never discuss but went further to revoke my admin status and criminally replaced me with himself as the owner or new owner.

After receiving the notification from Seoclerks that my project was ready, I tried to login to my account with several attempts without success. At first I thought it was something to do with a forgotten password and so tried to reset my password when Wordpress said to me in the popup message that ‘the email is not recognised or associated with the account’. As surprise as I was, I went and checked my login details I wrote in my special notebook just to confirm that the email and everything else was accurate, which was indeed the case. Accurate! I then decided to message the freelancer through Seoclerks platform to try to know what the problem was. Only then did the freelancer told me he has changed the logins. What was his reason? I honestly don’t know at that particular point. I said ok, kindly share the new password with me. To my greatest surprise, he has changed the email to his own personal email together with the password. I tried all I could to login without success.

Message upon message after the failed login experience, the guy could not even bother to reply me anymore. I then logged in to my Hostinger (hosting provider) account in order to access my store through their platform which I was able to. There I saw my store being completely changed to someone else’s own taste and desire. What stood most among the unauthorised changes he made was him creating a special space to upload his products sold in the Indian Rupee currency. He didn’t even attempt to do the job I hired him for.

I returned to Seoclerks to file a complaint as well as asking for a refund. It took 7 working days for Seoclerks to come back to me and another 3 working days to refund my money to my Seoclerks account balance. A week later, I decided to order for the same service with a different freelancer based in the U.S., only for me to realise that my account has been blocked by Seoclerks. I emailed Seoclerks to understand why I was blocked to which they told me it was to do with my previous transaction with the said freelancer. How and why, I asked. I said to them you yourself followed the case up where I provided all evidences that point to the fact that the freelancer did not fulfil his contractual obligation, far worse, he tried to steal my store if not for Hostinger’s help and blessing. I said I expected you to have prevailed upon your unprofessional dodgy freelancer and not me.

‘Case closed’ Seoclerks said to me. They said if I want I could create a new account under a different email and forget about that account which they are not going to unblock. That simply meant my $25 in my Seoclerks account was for them to claim or reclaim. They are not only complicit in the activities of their bogus criminal freelancers, they are equally deprave. Luckily for me, it was a Clickbank affiliate store which I don’t handle or process payment. Imagine what would have happened if my debit, credit card and PayPal personal details were there. I would have begged for mercy from father Abraham or Moses. As for the freelancer’s criminal changes, I reversed everything through Hostinger’s store restore backup by opting for a date prior to the job that was carried out by the so-called freelancer.

Stay safe, and look for reliable and trustworthy freelance marketplaces that care about integrity and personal reputation; corporate responsibility above all. Unfortunately, Seoclerks is not in that league of moral warriors and self-respect that value principles. I could well lobby the British Trade Secretary to have a look at their business practice to know whether or not it fell short of basic minimum standards which I’m sure it does.

Avoid this “SEOClerks marketplace” at all costs. The accounts and “sellers” are fake, and you won’t be able to withdraw any money. You’ll get stuck in their “verification process.” I’ve been advised to join a class action lawsuit against Ionicware,

Their help center is the worst I’ve ever encountered. They deleted my 10-year-old seller account due to a verification error and don’t respond to my messages. They accused me of creating a duplicate account and banned me without hearing my side. My service is older than the account they banned, and they blocked my email. This unprofessional company has destroyed my freelancing career.

Used the site for years 5-6 years without much problem - a great rating with hundreds of positive reviews.
