Delivery took days longer than it should have and was not the next-day-delivery promised. I did ask for some kind of recompense and received a small refund.

Worse still, the first time I rang, the person told me the order was dispatched when, in fact, it didn’t dispatch until three days after I placed the order.

Upon arrival none of the boxes were sealed. The code to use the DesignerKnit software was missing. It took a while to get this emailed from Silver Reed.

The biggest issue is that they are breaking the law by promising an instructional DVD, which was the main reason I bought from this company.

I never received one.

When I rang up to ask, customer service told me they aren’t doing them anymore! Yet even more than a month later the website still promises the DVD. Disgusting and unconscionable.

The person said he was sure they had some lying around and he’d get one sent to me. As you’ve no doubt guessed, nothing has arrived. That’s left me struggling to get to grips with the machine and accessories and I’m still not fully up and running with it. I need that non-existent DVD. As a result I haven’t even got the accessories set up or tested.

The user manuals are so poorly printed that the ink stains your hands just from holding the book, and the instructions could be clearer and much more comprehensive.

With every query, SMS UK blamed Silver (Silver Reed), the manufacturer, who apparently ship out—not Sewing Machine Sales UK.

They look like a great store until you buy from them and then you see what’s what.

Such a shame as everyone I speak to seems nice and friendly and genuine. And I REALLY wanted to leave a 5-star review. However, the website needs to reflect what you actually receive. And promises need to be kept. As is, you can’t trust what you see on their site as they haven’t kept it up to date and that makes it misleading.

Only my second, much smaller order went smoothly, kind of, as the order didn’t show on my account page and I couldn’t track it. But it arrived on time.

I recommend ordering with caution and maybe call them first to double-check you’ll receive what you expect when you expect it.

They’re a small business so I gave them leeway but now it’s time to review.

Quick and easy and lots of choice with competitive prices and good detail about what the machine could do. Haven’t used a Viscount machine before but it is sturdy and also can sew denim, which gives more flexibility if needed.
It was quick to arrive, so keen to see what I can do.

I bought a Brother sewing machine from this company last year and customer service was excellent, very helpful on the phone, items dispatched very quickly and very well packaged.
I have now ordered an Brother over-locker and again received excellent customer service. In my experience this company is very competitively priced, offering really good deals and discounts and are always so polite and helpful. I will certainly use them again.
