Stoake are a small, friendly company who were great to deal with from start to finish. Communication from the outset was always prompt and courteous. Nye answered all my questions in a comprehensive way and couldn't have been more helpful. The guys who installed my log burner were lovely, they did a great job, they kept me informed about how long it would all take and they were extremely tidy and did a great job of cleaning up before they left. I was happy to have them working in my house, I always felt very comfortable and at ease.
I had an unforeseen issue where my new granite hearth had an invisible fault and it cracked a couple of days after installation. Nye bent over backwards to get it replaced as soon as was convenient on my part. I'm delighted with my log burner and beautiful granite hearth and I'm so pleased I chose Stoake to do the job. Cosy Christmas, here we come!

Contacted Stoake to carry out an annual chimney sweep. Arrived on time and Nye was really friendly and professional. Finished job really quickly and efficiently and tidied everything up aswell. Would have no hesitation asking them to come back again next year.

We asked Stoake to install and advise on a wood burner for our front room. They came highly recommended by a friend. We got a few quotes and they came in the middle price, but we decided to go with them as they’d been the most helpful and have us advise on choosing the right stove. The team that came to site were lovely, a delight to have in the house and they did an amazing job and left no mess. Honestly a very delightful experience and now we’re warm for the winter

I contacted Stoake about replacing an old log burner with a newer, cleaner and more efficient model. Nye came to conduct the survey and was clearly incredibly knowledgable - so much so that it transpired that there were issues with my previous installation that I hadn't been aware of. Rectifying those issues has involved HETAS and most concerning, has showed how easy it is to employ irresponsible contractors. Fires in your home are obviously not an area where you want to hire incompetent and unsafe workers.
It has been reassuring and a relief to work with Stoake who are very knowledgable, very transparent and incredibly helpful. The install team were quick and tidy, communications with the office have been prompt and Nye has been hugely helpful.
For the record, I am also a woman and found Nye and his team to be some of the most mild-mannered, respectful contractors I have ever employed and I would have no concerns recommending them to anyone - male or female.

I am extremely grateful for the care and attention Nye and his team took to complete the challenging stove project here in Stamford Hill. Two other companies had come and gone saying it couldn’t be done. They recommended Stoake so I rang Nye. He came up with the solution of using twin wall up the side of my Victorian property and pinning the flue to the roof. This was challenging as I only own the ground floor but my neighbours were great and Nye recommended an excellent scaffolder. I didn’t think it would be possible but it looks amazing both in and out. Highly professional, absolutely top notch job. Just waiting for the decorator before I put pics up online.

The Stoakes team put in a new Charnwood with a marble surround. They were excellent from phone call to home visit to fitting. These guys really know their stuff and made the whole thing straight forward and stress free. Look no further!

I went as far as a quote just to open up an existing fireplace, put in a small woodburner on a simple hearth with no mantelpiece or surround and the quote was just over £6000 including VAT. Despite what they argue, there was no detailed discussion about anything, just a random figure of £5000 plus VAT.
When I got the quote it was full of unnecessary stuff like stove paint (I'm buying a new stove for heavens' sake!) just to make the price up to the £5000.
The hearth stone they quoted for alone was £805! Add VAT to that any you'll get close to £1000 for a small piece of granite!
I'm a woman too (see the other review saying they are pricey...) but I've been in business for 40 years and I know the value of things. I'm not a fool.
I thought I could get the job done to my specifications (not theirs) for closer to £3500. I found another, well-reviewed, stove fitting company and I did just that.
It's effectively a one-man company who talk about work being done to a high standard. All I could see was work being offered at a high price....

They turned up as agreed and quoted. Hence the two stars. The quote was £9155.36 plus scaffolding (likely cost £1000 or so) to install a wood burning stove. As the quote seemed high, I got another quote from a company in south London which does exactly the same work, with equally good credentials, for the same job. It was £3799.56 plus about £1000 for a limestone fireplace which they said was optional but had been included in the Stoake quote as obligatory.
So maybe a fairer comparison is £5,000 against the Stoake £10,000. Even allowing for other slight differences in spec - and there weren't many I could see - this was inexplicable. My friends call it a 'pink quote' (a quote for women). I'd never heard that phrase before but whatever the reason, the discrepancy between the quotes means I wouldn't recommend Stoake. Sadly - as they are local to me and that's why I approached them first. Caveat emptor, girls :)
