We went to test a car after having a phone call with the local dealer. However, we could not test the car becuase there was a recall on the battery. They apologised and asked us to come back another day, we agreed we would come today. They confirmed over the phone yesterday. This morning they cancel the appointment with 30 mins notice stating the "car was sold overnight". I called to request an explanation, when I said they had been unprofessional, she said that they explained we could have reserved. I can assure you they did not explain this neither to me or my husband. Maybe it is for the best, given the bad reviews on after sales customer service...
What could have been better? 1st- have the car ready to test if you are advertising it and if you ask people to come and test it. 2nd- be clear and transparent, explain the process in writing to ensure nothing is missed. 3rd-be accountable and take responsibility instead of telling us late that we did not reserve it (and hang up the phone). I recently part exchanged and purchased a pre-registered MG S5.
The price and deal offered was good value compare to Scottish dearlerships.

We bought a new MG S5 Trophy Long Range EV from the Hyde branch. We saw an advert on the salesman's desk for a dashcam and enquired about it. We asked if it was specific to MG cars and were told that it was and that it was recommended by MG. We paid £600 for the dashcam as an accessory, expecting a top of the range dashcam. What was fitted, however, was a Nissan dashcam which retails at £100. It was poorly fitted with wires sticking out. When I asked for a run-through of how the dashcam worked, I was told that it wasn't possible because none of the salesmen were familiar with it. That was apparently also the case for the men in the service department. I was told to read the instructions on the box instead. I phoned Stoneacre Head Office to lodge a complaint, and was told that they couldn't do anything because I had agreed to pay the £600. (Obviously not realising it was 6x the going rate - I should have done my research beforehand, but I was pressured into buying the car quickly as the deal "might come to an end"). The dashcam supplied was a lower end dashcam and barely fit for purpose. We were not given any technical specifications beforehand, nor given any alternative models or upgrade alternatives to higher spec dashcam. Honestly I feel scammed and it was definitely mis-sold. Stoneacre have made little to no attempt to call me back. My next step is Citizens Advice. My biggest mistake was trusting the salesmen.

The worst car company I’ve ever bought a car through. The pushiest sales people in branch (one literally ran after us when we left as we wanted to have a think before we bought) and also whenever you need to book in for a service or an issue with your car. Booking a car service and trying to be up sold 3 different ‘recommended additions’. I was sold a car that had been ‘checked and made ready’ for me which cost me £40, for the tyre light to come on immediately, which resulted in me paying £220 for 2 new tyres; I then had to chase for over a month for a refund with multiple people at the branch passing me on to other contacts. Avoid if you can.

Bought a “reliable,” “one careful owner,” “full service history” car from Stoneacre Teesside—within days it developed a serious fault. Their own technician confirmed the issue, which turned out to be a major engine problem.

We attempted to reject the car under the Consumer Rights Act, but were pushed into a drawn-out “repair” process instead. Over 10 weeks later—delays blamed on warranty approvals and parts—we rejected the vehicle a second time a few weeks ago due to it being not as described, not of satisfactory quality, and the repair time being unreasonable.

Despite this, Stoneacre are refusing to honour our right to reject and insisting we collect the car rather than issuing a refund.

We’ve been left out of pocket, without a car, and dealing with ongoing stress while escalating via Section 75 and the ombudsman.

Extremely disappointing from a company we previously trusted. Avoid.

I had an amazing buying experience with Stoneacre. I found a car on their website and placed a reservation, and from there the process was smooth and professional. Maya sent me a detailed video review of the car, followed by a call to go through the finance options.

I mainly dealt with Tom and Maya, and I have to say Maya was fantastic — I asked a lot of questions, and she answered everything quickly, clearly, and efficiently. The whole experience felt easy and well organised.

I recently bought a brand new Cupra Born from Stoneacre Peterborough and couldn’t be happier with how everything went. From start to finish the whole process was straightforward and genuinely enjoyable.
Aaron, the salesman, was brilliant — knowledgeable, friendly, and never pushy. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable at every stage. Ryan, the manager, was just as helpful and approachable, which really added to the overall experience.
There was no pressure at all, just honest advice and good communication throughout. It made a big difference compared to other dealerships I’ve dealt with in the past.

Visited Stoneacre in Nottingham for a full gold service.
After receiving a huge checklist of thing that were supposed to be checked, it was laughable. It was quite obvious the lost had just been ticked with the majority of things not checked. The wheel locking nut box had not even been opened. I looked at the bottom of the list it said service book stamped. First thing I checked was the service book when I notice the locking wheel nut had not been out the box. No service stand in the book. When booking the car in online, it said courtesy wash and footwear vacuuming, this is the 3rd time my car has been in and it's never been done.
I recieved a phone call when my car was on the ramp, the biggest concern they had was a smearing front window wiper blad, that actually is perfectly fine, the would change it for £50, along with a £200 air-conditioning service and an £80 wheel alignment that we're recommended. If i didnt have a warranty I wouldn't be coming back. Concentrate on the service not upsetting.

Very disappointing experience with Stoneacre.

My service plan wasn’t applied, and the only explanation was that they tried to call me—despite me being deaf. This shows a clear lack of consideration for accessible communication.

I was then passed between Stoneacre and EMaC to resolve the issue myself, with no real ownership taken. I’ve also received none of the correspondence they claim was sent.

Overall, poor customer service, no meaningful aftercare, and a lack of accountability. I won’t be returning.

Had MOT at Sunderland Toyota and had excellent service from all the staff especially Dan who again gave us excellent service during our stay. Well done Stoneackre and Thank You
