Specialists in Spray Foam Insulation removal.
Over 10 years ago, we had spray foam installed in the attic, between the rafters. It did improve the temperature in the house, especially in the extension, which had a separate roof space. The original company went out of business, but their guarantee was taken up by another company. This company asked Stratton Roofing to inspect the roof. New building regulations suggest that spray foam causes problems with the roof due to condensation. The only solution is to remove all the tiles , the membrane and the foam itself. They had to remove solar panels from the roof aswell.
The first step was to erect scaffolding, which required a separate payment.
A very efficient technical team from Stratton Roofing them came and did this removal and cleaned the rafters of remaining foam. They then replaced the membrane and the battons and the tiles. Many of the old tiles were reusable, but they did replace those that were broken. The team also removed and then replaced the solar panels and reconnected them. These now work well again.
They managed to do all this work within three days also cleaning up all of the mess that was made. The work was fairly expensive, but Stratton Roofing did a very high quality job. They promised to supply a 25 year guarantee and a certificate detailing the work done.
Our bank did question the validity of some of the payments we made. It is a pity that the managememt team of this Company does not have same work ethic as their technical team. The price quoted was much higher than that from other roofing companies. The actual price paid was higher than the quote, as they claimed they forgot to add VAT. They do not seem to pay their scaffoldoing contractors enough to cover the maintainance of their vehicles, as the scaffolders had problems with transport. The promised paperwork has still not arrived almost two months after the work was done. The work supervisor vanished after only one day and was not replaced. The technical team leader seemed to have a bvery good understanding of the work to be done and did it very well despite a lack of supervision.
So the work was done expertly by the technical team, but the company management was very poor.
