8 weeks to get service
One inverter stopped working resulting in 30 panels going down. I "chatted" with someone who sent me directions to reboot the inverter but you need to be an electrician. Best appointment available is 7 weeks out

Unacceptable! Now 8 months with no battery backup!
Update: It is now June 20, 2024 and I still have no battery back up!! I have had several visits from various technicians and an and a supposed escalation specialist. None of the techs could fix the problem despite supposedly having the “right parts” with them. No continuity of communication with Sunpower once the installation is done. If you are looking for a system that is maintained properly, look elsewhere.
Original: I purchased a SunPower system (panels & 2 SunVault batteries) in late September 2023. Since Nov. 6, 2023, the two batteries we purchased are basically doorstops due to (apparently) several malfunctioning parts (microinverter(s) and a relay). I have called the 1-800-SunPower number numerous times over the past several months and have gotten no useful information from them except for a case number, #03621287. The consistant answer is that the parts are "on order." The SunVault (battery) line is worse than useless as no one ever answers it. Have contacted my "project manager" several times (email only - never answers his phone). He has only told me to call the 1-800-number. I am
very discouraged, especially when I read that Sunpower is currently being sued by shareholders for not properly disclosing inventory levels. A previous lawsuit for selling systems with defective inverters (settled 2022) has caused me great alarm due to the similarity of the case to my situation. SunPower, please help me!!!!

Istallati 4 kw di pannelli fotovoltaici Sunpower pannelli da 400 w. La resa è ottima per la posizione dei miei pannelli, producono circa 3800 w. Purtroppo non sono orientati perfettamente a sud. Mi riservo di aggiornare questa recensione nel periodo estivo così da avere il tempo di verificare i rendimenti con il sole allo zenit.
Io per ora mi stoi trovando bene.

It’s been absurd that my project has…
It’s been absurd that my project has been delayed many times, and nobody is even on top of my project. My project started in October 2023, and yet today is March 26th, I’ve been waiting for more than half a year, it still hasn’t been accomplished yet. What’s worst, we failed the building department Inspection. The Sunpower guy didn’t even try to fix it and left in the middle of the process, and it’s been seven days I’ve never heard back from them again .
It’s been a very stressful process. I have to try to contact them a few times a week just so I can get a hold of someone on top of my project, otherwise it’s being ignored. I’m investing $50,000 cash in the solar panel project, expecting it to be reliable and giving me a long-term benefit. Now I’m not sure with this type of irresponsible service, how much I can expect in the future.
I suggest people to look elsewhere, I do not recommend Sunpower.
Received a response from Sunpower today on 3/27/2024 the review. Looking forward to their action on fixing the problem and when they will complete the project. I won't delete the review until things are done correctlly.

RUN.....
RUN... customer service will never allow you to speak with a manager or a supervisor. Have been having issues with our solar panels generating power since 2/24/23. Finally fixed 1/2024 but not before having to pay Edison $2,537 right before Christmas 2023. Once it was fixed, they ran a performance guarantee test and they only refunded us $432, really! Now 3/21/2024 as of 2/3/2024 again we are not generating power... really again! Currently fighting the refund and now have a new open case for not generating since last month. In contact with Nilasco Caguimbal | Escalation Specialist but he usually only response once a month if I'm lucky. DON'T RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

This company is a FRAUD!
I purchased this system in March 2022 and since before install IT has been a nightmare! The system never worked for about a year now. I contact Customer service 3 times a day and everyone says something different. Technician came twice, they seat in the backyard for half a day, the leave the system working and the following day it does not work. same nightmare ... They are stealing my money. Now I am paying more to electricity provider and I have a monthly payment for 25 years with the bank. They are doing fraudulent practices
I am very tired of them.

Solar inverter broken for over 1 year
I have been a Sunpower lease customer since 2015. In Jan 2023, my inverter went bad. I have had multiple visits from their contractors. The inverter is bad and Sunpower has been stalling for over a year in replacing it. They have required me to continue paying my lease and paying a full electric bill the entire time. I have spoken with them numerous times, sent emails and nothing. I still have solar that does not work due to a broken inverter. Sunpower claims that my inverter is on back order, but that seems to be the case since September 2023. Six months later still no inverter. I have spoken to representatives overseas, in the US, the escalations team. I have also emailed the executives team, and still no response from them. This has caused extreme financial and emotional damage to me for the last 14 months. I am asking Sunpower for the following:
1 – Release me from my lease without penalty and remove your equipment from my property
2 – Install a new system since you are unable to replace my inverter. With this, I do not want to sign a new 20 year lease with your company. I want to continue with my current payments and term.

Way over priced go else where
way over priced, their charges were over 40k for 7 kwh system, compared to others like tesla <19k, its like they are selling $10k equipment for $40k. beware guys
SunPower will not support you
We have a system we leased from SunPower in 2012. We've never missed a payment and it has worked well. In Jan. 2024, our roof was damaged by a severe windstorm. SunPower is responsible for temporarily removing the system (at our cost) so that the roof can be replaced. I contacted them 7 weeks ago and they have not made any progress in locating an authorized dealer to do the work. I located a local solar company who would do it with permission from SunPower but they weren't interested. I offered to buy out the lease and they haven't responded. I am at risk of water damage to my house because SunPower support is non-existent. They'll respond promptly to emails but make no progress in resolving issues. In addition, they defaulted on a $300M loan last year and may have to declare bankruptcy or reorganize.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SUNPOWER, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

SunPower does not honor their incentive program even after finally approving it
Updated review - Sunpower responded thanks to the influence and reach of TrustPilot. Sadly, they have not sent the promised incentive, nor responded to my request for updated information. I am using their provided link. Synopsis - their panels work well - they do not honor their incentive promises.
Original Review of Sunpower incentive - I am hoping SunPower will reach out to rectify the incentive program offer I was given....I am hoping SunPower will reach out to me directly as they have my contact information. Waiting and hoping to update if/when this gets resolved.
Like anything - you have to pay attention to the work -
Pros:
The panels appear to be working well
The app is wonderful, easy to understand
If you get a good installer you will feel very confident that aesthetics as well as optimal panel and conduit placement.
Cons:
SunPower did not honor my incentive offer despite many contacts with customer service.
SunPower sent the wrong paperwork so my system took an extra month before I could use solar energy
I had to make several calls to SunPower to remind them to schedule the City Inspector.
SunPower panel installers were thoughtful and cleaned up after themselves BUT they drilled holes through my shingles [on my 50 year roof] and they made no effort to match the patch material to my roof. [Their other installer who looked after the conduits was particularly careful to match the conduit paint with my roof color and explained the rationale for everything he was doing.
Details re: above
I contracted with SunPower because they offered a $750 incentive. I was sent back and forth between the authorized dealer who signed me up [he was knowledgeable and answered my technical questions promptly] and SunPower. The Company follow up never materialized though i invested a lot of time trying to 1]understand if i missed a step in applying for the incentive 2] waiting for a response. I was unhappy to learn customer service had no records of my calls and despite being promised answers, none have come. So, if the incentive program is important, you should know that they do not honor it. Their customer service people do not have the authority to act nor elevate your complaint to someone who will fix it. Very disappointing. That said, I have no complaints about the product. Some of their installers are top notch which was very impressive. Mine, was very professional and attentive to aesthetics and explained why he was placing panels and connections in particular places. He was careful to match the paint to my roof shingles. Unfortunately, SunPower sent the wrong paperwork so the City could not sign off on the work. It took about another month before my system could be activated. And there were extra holes drilled in the wrong places. They claim these holes will not leak. On the plus side, the app is terrific and informative. The panels seems to be working well.

I just recently moved into a new home and was having trouble activating my solar control box. SunPower sent out a tech, Warren, to help get it activated. Warren kept me informed via phone call for when he would be arrive and he got right to work. He was professional and explained everything to me once he finished the job so I understood how my solar worked. I appreciated how quickly he worked and how friendly he was! :)

Only produces 1/2 the power and they don’t care!
UPDATE- 2 mo. Ago Sunpower replied that they would assist with resolution. My electric bill is now 2200.00. No on has contacted me once. Stay away from Sunpower! ORIGINAL POST: First I was told our lease would be 280 per month and it is actually 320.00. We were told that we were getting a system that would produce enough energy to cover our history of usage. The panels are only producing 1/2 of what we use at best. We produced sufficient power for only ONE Month out of the past TWELVE. The last electric bill WITH the solar panels was 940.00! I opened a service request because something has to be wrong but they sent me a form letter saying everything is functioning properly and I m “probably” using more energy. The salesperson claimed that after the first year they would make adjustments to the system if it wasn’t producing enough. (I.e. adding more panels etc) but now they clearly have a “so what” attitude. Also the salesperson said that I would be getting a battery backup for power outages and nights but that was false as well. Oh did I mention that they put a 25 year lien on my house. I’m trapped in this endless deal and unable to arrange for the PSEG budget plan because I’m a solar customer. The perfect fraud trap!!!!! Also its 3/4/24 and I've received no contact from the "apologetic" SunPower response below.

Warren Grennan arrived on time on the day we had the service scheduled. He was very knowledgeable and walked us through using the system after installation. He was friendly and professional and set up the system very quickly for us.

Do not stand behind warranty.
I've had 2 solar systems one SunPower and one other of similar slightly smaller size. My SunPower system was great for the first couple years and so was the service from my installer.
Now I am having problems with my system and it is producing less than 50 percent of what it was and less than my other system which is only 60 percent as large. Also, there is a flashing red LED on the system indicating a failure of some type. When I purchased the system, it said I have and all inclusive 25 year end to end warranty.
When I contacted them I was told that I had to provide a credit card such that they could charge me to come out and troubleshoot the problem. l contacted my installer and they told me they were cut off by SunPower from being able to do anything.
In the past, I provided recommendations to others to go with Sunpower. I am so sorry that I exposed them to this Company. It looks like I will need to consider some type of litigation of this issue.

I used A** F****** as our consultant and G***** P**** at Sunpower Direct. Our experience is awful. It takes weeks if not months for either to respond. Our system was installed on 10/27/2023. We were promised two months of Solar generation without a payment. Instead we began paying for the system before it was activated. The system was activated in January and has never worked properly.It produces half of what it should and shows on the app that the system is not functioning properly. The equipment is theoretically the best and the warranties appear excellent but they are bogged down by unmanageable bureaucracy. You pay a premium price you expect premium service. Please people go with local vendors.

Total Misprepresentation
We were told that after our solar panels were installed, our electric bill would go down to around $30 per month. With the $277 per month lease payments, we'd save around $150 per month on average. However, our monthly electric bills have been around $200 per month and this month, it was $491.45. Also, our app stopped communicating with the system, so we can't tell if the system is working and we couldn't get an appointment for service until 2 months later. We are still waiting. We are extremely unhappy. Everything we were told when we leased the panels turned out to be false.

FRAUD - not refunding money for providing non functional system and not solving problem in reasonable timing
FRAUD - FAKE PROMISE AND EXPECTATION during proposal, 8 months to complete a simple solar installation, 1 year and multiple escalations and all the way to CEO to fix one simple issue.. 0 on customer service .. all employees including project manager are clueless on internal processes, no visibility or control on third party installers, don’t even know if the permit was filed.. not sure what CEO is Peter Faricy is up to? The whole organisation is hiding behind one sided contract which doesn’t protect customer against delay and damages …
timeline/time is of the essence, liquidated damages, direct/indirect damages etc.
May be we all should gather and file a class action lawsuits then only CEO Peter Faricy will wake up from sleep

SunPower Solar Panels
I actually purchased solar panels from this company about 12 or 13 years ago and I was very happy I did so they worked as expected and the company was a pleasure to work with, in fact so much so that I had 5 of my friends contact them, all of which purchased their own. Sadly this all changed with the company a couple of years ago. My unit was no longer producing the power it should. I contacted SunPower and almost a year later they resolved the problem. Yes I said that right almost a year. But that isn't even the worse of it, their technician who replaced the faulty unit created a problem with the electrical that caused the main breaker on my house to burn out. At the time I did not realize that, plus it was in the middle of summer here in Arizona, 100 plus degrees. The electrician that did fix the problem had to disconnect the solar panels to do so. This cost me over $1000, which I have been trying to collect for over 6 months now. The company just flat out refuses to work with you. They haven't denied it, which they can't, but they haven't reimbursed me either. Sadly I have spoken with two others that purchased the solar panels which have had problems to where they are unwilling to work with them as well. This company has gone, at least to me, as gone from a good customer service company to an extremely poor one. At this point if you are looking for solar panels, which I believe are a good investment, I would definitely look elsewhere.
