I’m not usually one for leaving…

I’m not usually one for leaving reviews, but I felt I needed to share this experience.

I purchased a car on finance five years ago from another dealer in Crawley, and the experience was so awful that I was really apprehensive about buying another car. That all changed when I walked into Taylor’s Pitstop and was greeted by Paul from the sales team.

Paul restored my faith in the car industry. From start to finish, his friendly and professional approach was outstanding, and he made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. Thank you, Paul.

After 6–8 weeks, I noticed excessive play in the steering wheel, and all my old doubts started creeping back in. I assumed I’d be given the runaround when taking it back under warranty. Then I spoke to Nick on the service desk.

Nick’s friendly, calm, and approachable manner was refreshing. There was no hesitation at all — the car was booked in, diagnosed, and repaired without so much as an issue.

To keep this review honest, the only slight gripe I have is more about the warranty itself. My reverse sensors stopped working after only a few months, and unfortunately that isn’t covered, which is a little frustrating. However, Nick pointed me in the direction of a local company who can replace them, which I plan to do when funds allow.

Thank you, Paul and Nick, for restoring my faith in the motor industry.

My elderly parents in their 80s got…

My elderly parents in their 80s got talked into leaving a deposit on a car they test drove but decided it was too small as they had been in a nasty accident where their old car was written off so they needed to replace it.
I advised them not to buy as it was too small. They were promised they would get their money back in 5-7 days but they are now denying this and refusing to give the deposit back. My dad went back to pitstop to try to get the deposit back and he was assaulted and threatened with the police. This is how they treated an 83 year old man

Taylors Pitstop - Not recommended

Going to keep this brief. Used this company as my in-laws had bought two cars previously from them. We emphasised we wanted something reliable for my recently widowed mother.
Was sold a Hyundai IX20 which seemed fine on the initial test drive. Upon return to forecourt, it had to be moved by another salesperson, who we then saw pushing it. When asked what the problem was, I was told it had "run out of petrol". Eyebrows were raised when we questioned this. It turned out to be a clutch problem, which we were assured would be fixed.
To cut a long story short, we collected the car, took it to a petrol station, where upon the clutch failed.
Communication was very poor. It took us a week to get our money back and TWO weeks to recover the £40.73 worth of petrol put in the tank (it had to be approved by a Board of Directors). Lots of overselling of needless products: 3 year warranty (questionable), extra mats (pointless) paintwork coating (made no difference).
We were promised reliability, but were let down monumentally.

Avoid!!!

Purchased a car in February. Salesman spoke exclusively to my husband, even when my husband pointed out that he should be talking to myself as the buyer and future owner! Completely ignored him, and continue to show him the car and the features instead.
Accompanied test drive was fine, but it was apparent that it had belonged to an extremely heavy smoker. We were assured that it would be fully valeted before collection and we agreed to purchase at the asking price.
When we came to collect the car, a 3 hour drive away which they knew, they couldn't get us out of the door fast enough. No coffee which we had been offered when purchasing, and the salesman recorded the sale on the whiteboard before we had even left the building!
When we got home and saw the car in daylight it was apparent the inside of the car had not been cleaned. There was mould across the steering rack, and in the fabric of the seats and sun visors etc
It also still stunk of tobacco, especially when we had any air blowing. We called up to ask for it to be rectified and they asked us to return it. I was unable to as my mother was terminally ill and had been taken in to a hospice and so we asked them to authorise a local garage to do it, which after much back and forth ( weeks!) they agreed to pay for. We had the valet done in April after my mother had sadly passed away and I am STILL waiting to be reimbursed for it. I have phoned, I have emailed and am constantly fobbed off. We spent over 15K and expected better customer service than this!
AVOID!

Sharks & Liars

Agreed to buy a car, paid deposit but asked for a couple of issues to be sorted, ie paintwork on bumper & for a note from themselves saying that an issue on the current mot would be rectified if a problem arose ! Day before pick up went to pay for car & to check the paintwork had been done was satisfactory.

The salesman Paul Dawson or should I say Arthur Daley denied that he & the service manager had agreed to give us a guarantee against an advisory on the mot ! We said to him this isnt what was agreed so as the contract was broken we decided to not purchase car, as we left we said to Arthur Daley opps I mean paul when should we expect refund he said 24 -72 hrs !

After not seeing this happen I telephoned & spoke to Arthur & he denied he had said this so asked to speak to manager Austin ? Who said that he will happily give me a refund once the car has another buyer ! So now i am still waiting as to he honest doesnt look like this will ever happen as the Company has very poor customer services & people working for them who tell untruths.

I would think long & hard about purchasing a car from this company !!! Whatever do not part with any money as you will be saying goodbye to it !

Dreadful after sales!!!

Firstly, I would not rate this company at all, However, 1 star is the least I was allowed to give!
After sales service is absolutely dreadful! Salesman could sell anything and offer the world but doesn't want to know after the money has been delivered! I tried several times to email and even phoned this company and they just did not want to know and were rude enough to not respond! We are a family of 5 drivers, so they have missed out big time in the long run of things. I would not touch this company again and would advise anybody else to steer well clear!!!

Dreadful after sales service.

Dreadful after sales service.
They will be all smiles to sale you the car, but the moment something is wrong, the sales guy will brush you off and say that you need to deal with the after-manager who is shocking, and will do everything to avoid the warranty. Avoid this lot! And look else’s where!

I purchased a Nissan Juke off Taylors…

I purchased a Nissan Juke off Taylors Pitstop in May and the very next day the clutch decided to pack up on me miles from my home.
Eventually the AA took the car back to Horley who then apparently repaired the said clutch.
20 days later, again miles from my home the clutch burnt out and once again the AA returned the car to Horley for repair.
However this time Pitstop refused to repair the car under the warranty claiming the burnt out clutch was caused by the driver i.e. myself.
Obviously, I was not too pleased with this response, as I have been driving all sorts of vehicles for over 50 years and never had a clutch burn out on me.
Upon further investigation it transpired that on the first clutch repair, the Company had not replaced the fly wheel which is recommended, so I did have a case for them to answer.
The Company then told me they wanted £925 to fix the car plus they decided they were going to charge me £30 plus vat a day storage for the car until I got it removed.
I wanted the situation resolved so I offered to sell them back the car which they agreed at a greatly reduced price.
They then resold the car immediately at a greatly increased price.
Obviously due to all the above facts I could not possibly recommend purchasing a car off this Company.
