Slow processes and no consistency
I applied for COBRA through WageWorks and used their online portal on a Saturday. It was not clear that the premium payment was due before they would start doing any work - the website indicated that my payment would be due later; however, I can accept that I may have missed it. I called their offices on Monday morning and paid the premium (payment was verified by the representative on the phone). The representative then told me that it would take 3-4 days for my insurance to be active. I planned accordingly and scheduled my emergency dental service for the end of the week in line with what I was told. On Wednesday, the dental office let me know they still could not confirm my insurance so I called Anthem. Anthem was great - they checked their billing department and had not received any paperwork. Anthem then 3-way called WageWorks to find out what the status of my activation paperwork was. Here's where I get frustrated - the WageWork rep now tells me that it takes 7-10 business days for them to process my application and payment. So my emergency dental work has to be delayed for another 10 calendar days. The information I am receiving is not consistent and the only "help" they could offer me is to pay out of pocket first and get reimbursed by insurance later, which is not feasible for a several thousand dollar procedure. I am in pain and beyond frustrated at the lack of consistency, slow process, and poor communication from WageWorks. If this is how they operate for something as simple as sending a letter to an insurance company to activate benefits, I would not recommend any of their services to anyone.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would
After I left my previous company Wage works charged me $6 a month to simply keep my money in my HSA which they has advertised as rolling over forever even if I left my job. $6 a month is absolutely ridiculous. Now that I want to simply close my account, they are charging me an additional $25. For what exactly?? The tax benefit is not worth it when their fees just keep adding up.
CROOKS
Just like all other reviews, been paying for COBRA since 8/1/2023, Wageworks has never activated my BCBS, They can’t communicate with each other, I have submitted requests on both sides, I have had both side on a conference call, I have paid in advance, NOTHING. NO COVERAGE. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!!!!!
Really poor customer service
Really poor customer service. I submitted a question online in Wageworks portal and they closed the issue without any resolution. I called to inquire about the issue and the rep informed me what to do. I asked why the ticket was closed without any response and they told me I needed to call in. What? What is the purpose of the portal if you submit a question and they close it without any response including, we will need to speak to you please call in.
Minus stars is very appropriate
Minus stars is very appropriate. This is the worst company to do business with. I feel sorry for the employees that have to repeat what they are told to say. The employees can reason and figure anything out. I don't blame the workers. There management is a joke. I doubt any of the management personnel could find employment anywhere else. They are, by far, the most stupid people I have ever dealt with. Wage Works should be closed for business and the management
should be in jail.
Would Give Them No Stars If Possible
The people on the front line are very nice and the managers I have spoken too are nice as well....BUT THEIR WHOLE SYSTEM IS MESSED UP!!! I saw a dermatologist and had some tags or spots removed back on 11/8/23 because they were in delicate places that were causing irritation and rawness of the spots. I have called so many times and have been switched to so many managers. Every time getting a new case number. Went back and forth at least a half a dozen times with denials, etc. I have provided on at least 3 if not 4 occasions all of the documentation they need including a Letter of Medical Necessity. Last couple of managers can't understand what the approval department is doing. Nothing if you ask me. What more do they want? I am just asking for the remainder of the claim to be verified!! I am currently calling again since I have not heard anything since 12/28/23. It is now 1/22/24. Was on hold and talking to an agent and yet another supervisor. He was just about done with getting my case resubmitted AGAIN and we got cut off after 54 mins. and 40 seconds. Had to call back again and am on the phone again with another agent and yet another manager. She found the denial from my previous submission and read it to me. Why this first manager today couldn't do that, I have no idea. So here I go again back to the dermatologist to get them to redo a receipt and/or Letter of Medical Necessity so their wording exactly matches because people don't know what they are doing over there. Frustrated Beyond Belief...... I have no faith that this is going to be resolved. But I will be grateful if it does. By they was was on the phone again for another 25 mins.
Wage Works is very ineffective as a…
Wage Works is very ineffective as a COBRA health management company, they are unable to escalate the issue with health care insurance. Good luck, if you get stuck with them, they are slow to respond and everything takes 24 hours or longer to get resolved!
Throughout this year they have…
Throughout this year they have consistently asked me for receipts to back-up charges. I have provided them with the receipts from providers but they deny them and then ask again and again. If that is the receipt, that is the receipt. There is nothing anyone can do. They have suspended the card use because of it. YOU CANNOT use this card randomly so not sure why this is an issue and if you have the receipt with a medical provider's info on it, you know it was used for medical purposes! They have even gone back 3 years asking for old receipts. It is OUR money on the card anyways and then have nerve to say, if we pay it back, they will unsuspended the card.
Wageworks administered my Cobra…
Wageworks administered my Cobra program. The underlying program went defunct effective Feb 1st, 2023. They promised me a refund as they still charged the month of February. It's now November and the refund has still not been processed despite them acknowledging the issue
Wageworks/Health Equity is a terrible…
Wageworks/Health Equity is a terrible organization that makes it extremely and painfully difficult to spend your own money on legitimate medical expenses. I have encountered numerous issues with valid receipts being declined, denials of claims and suspensions of cards with absolutely no communication whatsoever, lack of guidance and/or direction on what is needed in order to rectify issues or any steps on resolution processes, etc…. As mentioned, it shouldn’t be this difficult to spend your own money on medical expenses just to save a few bucks on taxes. I do not plan on re-enrolling in future years and would caution others before enrolling as well.
Fraudsters?
Fraudsters?
They administered COBRA for me.
The Aetna policy ran for April and May and they deducted via auto EFT $1,073.08 at the beginning of the month.
I notified them mid-May that I would be employed and covered by a new Plan effective May 29th.
But the auto-EFTs have continued for June, Jul, and Aug! [When trying to sign in to my account on June 3rd, the first time I saw the unauthorized withdrawal, I got a message saying "account closed".
My experience with Wage Works for a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
My experience with Wage Works for a Flexible Spending Account has been terrible. I was using Optum Financial for a Health Savings Account before and that was so incredibly easy that the switch to Wage Works has been even more terrible because I have the comparison. I do not recommend companies using this. I have been so frustrated with the amount of denials. And the amount of time things have taken to reimburse. I do not think I will be opening an FSA if my company continues to use Wage Works.
WageWorks by HealthEquity
WageWorks by HealthEquity
Submitted insurance premium payment reimbursement claim and has been declined twice. Have enclosed proof of payment, insurance company name, covered period, participant name with proof of coverage, to be denied twice. Obviously these people do not take the time to carefully examine and understand the enclosed documents. I can only think they likely feel that's too much paperwork to go through and the simplest way out of it is to decline the claim. Absolutely terrible customer service support.
Customer Service for COBRA was excellent!
This is a very specific review about one experience as well as a general review about WageWorks.
I noticed that old medical bills from 2022 were being rejected mid-2023 (29 to be exact). At the time, I had been laid off but stayed on COBRA, which was administered by WageWorks. I contacted my insurer (Aetna) who bumbled through telling me that my dependents were not covered.
WageWorks pulled the record of my payments and the confirmations that had been sent to Aetna showing that my dependents were covered at the time, then sent a confirmed adjustment to the record as I was on the call. Aetna apparently does not have live updates and says it will take time to process.
Most people would end it at that but Bambi/WageWorks pressed, asked for eligibility to confirm the receipt. Though Aetna refused to put us in touch with the eligibility dept and then gave us a non-working number, Bambi called me back after the calls to confirm and make sure I had everything I needed.
This is a superior example of how customer service should be done - not just from the individual but when the company has a mission of insuring that end customers especially get helped.
As for my general experience with WageWorks - I have been pleasantly surprised with my experience having read some negative reviews. My COBRA benefits portal was always up to date and easy to read with enough information to be helpful and not overwhelmed. They were super diligent making sure I got payment notices with sufficient time to deal with them and a very generous grace period.
One other time I had to call them because I had missed the renewal notice but the agent then also was extremely helpful and within an hour had me re-enrolled to my plan even though I had missed the enrollment deadline.
So all-in-all, I have zero complaints about WageWorks, and very high regard for their end user customer experience.
Yes very bad experience with wage works…
Yes very bad experience with wage works never got my invoices to my HR service an now I have money left in my account an can't use it . I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN no hr taking money from my check I don't understand this is our money why do we have to pay it back do we have to pay it back iam PISSED TO THE FULLEST. My b experience was TERRIBLE
SCAM
STAY AWAY, it is a SCAM! I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and just say that they incompetent; however it appears that they are using that to vail their scam/theft. They make it nearly impossible to get reimbursed and hope that people will simply just give up and in doing so they keep the money. That money by the way is not theirs. Customer service is nonexistent or at least unable to resolve anything. STAY AWAY, it is a SCAM! The representative I just spoke with told me "they are keeping the money hostage until you resubmit the receipts". The receipts in question were submitted 2021 however they need to be resubmitted.
This company is a SCAM
This company is a SCAM, do not sign up. They collect your HSA money and no matter what you provide, they never pay. They had the gaul to say that a Cardiologist isn't a doctor. I turned in over 7k in receipts and they paid less than 25%, there's always an excuse. When they messed up and actually paid me, they took it out of my checking account the next day without authorization. They must make millions stealing people's money. Don't do it.
Never want to deal with wageworks again. One of the worse service I have ever…
One of the worse service I have ever had. I notified them of two errors, one was wrong amount the other paid twice and the put 2 payments and would have paid the wrong amount but there was not enough money to do it. They refused to help or care so am out the money and billing office is keeping the doule payment
I reported the problem to my insurance to see if they could help and they contacted wageworks and told my insurance it was taken care of. They lied

this company shouldn’t even be operating
I don’t understand how this company is even allowed to operate with how poor their services and how obviously poor their customer experiences. Companies need to stop being cheap and invest in better organizations to work with than this one. I got a commuter card because at the time when I started working my current job, I didn’t have my own car. I forgot to unenrolled for the benefits which was my fault and in return I now have over $300 in computer credits. Not only will they not allow me to use this money towards gas for my car which IS MY TRANSPORTATION, but I have had numerous commuter cards get lost in the mail, and when I finally get my hands on one, I can’t even activate the thing because their phone service is down. another huge flaw in their system. They don’t allow you to activate your card manually or through the website or even through a customer service rep. You can ONLY Activate your card through their obviously ineffective toll line. If you are a company looking to use their services or an individual who works for a company that recently adopted services from wage works, please don’t enroll and look elsewhere!!!
Worst COBRA ever DO NOT sign up
Worst COBRA ever DO NOT sign up. I had my daughter signed up for COBRA through my husband's former employer Leidos-Health Equity WAGEWORKS back on Jan 9th and paid right away to get coverage effective right away, but when I called insurance it wasn't showing active on their end since WAGEWORK failed to notify them(to top it off you're not allowed to sign up until you receive a hard copy letter in the mail. They're still living in 1900! They never heard of computer or emails seriously!). I needed them around Jan 25 because my daughter was complaining about her ears and again insurance is still not active. I paid $860 and if you call their support, they don't care even if you're seriously in need of medical help for them to call the insurance and inform them about your cobra(since this is what the insurance suggested to us). Horrible company and shameful to those big companies still using this place for programs such as HSA, FSA, and COBRA or any health benefits.
