Good choice of shoes and website

Good choice of shoes, though I got sidelined by the website - while looking for the Scrambler Mid 2 WP, when I looked for the one I wanted, it redirected me to the original Scrambler Mid WP, which I then bought without realising that it had done so.

The shoes are a reasonable price and were delivered very quickly. However, I then realised that the "old" version doesn't have the Michelin sole.

Nonetheless, I've kept these and, having used them for two days now, am pretty pleased. They're very dry and warm, despite trekking across the (very) wet moors with the dogs. Overall they are a very comfortable hiking boot. M

My only criticisms are that they aren't very grippy on wet & muddy paths (the newer Michelin sole may have overcome this!) and the left shoe seems to force me to overpronate, rubbing the outside of my left ankle against the edge of the shoe - odd.

No customer service.....out of pocket

I ordered 2 pairs of shoes, but sadly they were too small so were returned by tracked post on the 14th August. I didn't hear anything back from them so sent an email enquiring about the refund. Nearly a month later and multiple more emails and I am being ghosted. It was my first experience with Xero UK. Besides the size, the shoes seem great, but it will be my last purchase from them. Utterly disappointed. They changed the website and so I contacted their hello@xero.... who just redirected me back to support@.... despite telling them I was getting nowhere.....RUBBISH.
I now have to take other measures to get my refund. As barefoot shoes are 99% order online, Xero UK you are just losing customers.

Low rating is for a reason, buyers beware!

Should have come here and read the 2 and 1 star reviews before buying. Its been a good waste of time and money.

Went to the website and was confronted with Sale On signs. Added 1 pair of Gemini to basket and went to the checkout to find the full price.

So I emailed and asked why, to be told the sale was over, and that people had been emailed about it so it didn’t matter the Summer Sale was still advertised on the website, everyone knew. Everyone? I was a new customer, they didn’t have my email, and they didn’t have much computer understanding either.

They offered me a part refund if I just sent them the order number, so I paid full price and requested a part refund to be told I had already received the discounted price, which I had not. So I had to explain again, before someone opened their eyes and saw I was right.

The sandals arrived and I had to watch a video about how to adjust them. I spent a week trying to get them to stay on my feet in a secure way that allowed me to walk. The soles are so thin that as soon as I lift a foot the front part can be felt flapping about like a wet fish. And its so thin as soon as I put my foot down I can feel whatever is underneath sticking into the sole of my foot, including the rubber stopper holding the string, which is not stuck in place, and is thicker than the sole so now I have a permanent “thing” pushing up into the base of my foot. I can feel it, its putting strain into the ball of both feet, very uncomfortable.

And as I am trying to walk, the flapping front sole is folding itself underneath constantly, so the only certainty is that these will break long before they wear out.

These sandals are uncomfortable, insecure, and each of the 3 attempts to wear them have resulted in me having to take them off and walk home barefoot. They must be the worst. There's no way these could be used for running, unless you were trying to fall on your face.

In despairation I contacted Xeroshoes for help, and so far no reply has been received.

I should have read these reviews, seen the 2.6 rating and followed my instincts to buy something else from a different shoe maker. A waste of money, a waste of time, incompetent people and poorly designed sandals. If it's any consolation, the quality of shoe appears to match the quality of the company., its the only positive thing I can find to say!

Updated 1st August:
Just in case any of you are still in doubt, since this review I have heard nothing from Xero shoes except an unrelated request for a review, which has been sent to the company. NO RESPONSE has come from either of these reviews, or my direct request for help. Perhaps Xero should be renamed ZERO

Update: 21 August
Your explanations of thin soles does not explain why the stopper is twice as thick as the sole, so its like walking on a pebble every step.

You did eventually reply, so the email did arrive, but by then I had worn them on grass to try and get them to fit, so now you won't even offer me a full refund, your only suggestion being to spend twice as much again to buy a different model.

Its worth repeating, this has been a car crash from beginning to end, I have barefoot shoes from 2 other makers, nothing has come close to being this bad, or this unhelpful.

I've ended up with a pair of sandals that cannot be worn unless I want to end up on my face or with blisters on the balls of my feet. That's not barefoot, that's poor!

We are sorry to hear about your experience with your new shoes and the delay in response here. Trust Pilot is less regulated. If you need assistance, we always suggest reaching out to our support team directly.
All of our shoes and sandals are designed with minimal to no cushioning, so they are essentially barefoot with protection. Depending on the style, the soles will be thinner or thicker, some with foam and some will just be solid rubber. The Genesis is our sandal with the thinnest, solid rubber sole of all of our styles, with a 5.5 mm thickness.
We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing some flopping of the sole, this is typically a sign that the size may not be right for you, or the laces need adjusting.
We have looked at your email history, but we do not see any recent emails after your refund was issued for the sale price.

Zero shoes

Well named company, waiting for my order and my bank informed me a refund was on its way! Had to then phone Xero Shoes up to get the postage refunded. ‘Customer care’ then tell me the shoes had been returned to them, meanwhile I was still able to see them in transit to me on DPD’s tracker. Definitely a one star service.

Endless issues

My sister got me a gift card for this company at christmas. First of all, their stock must have been very low because they were out of many styles and sizes, actually none at all for my son's size. Then when I did choose a pair, there was no option to use my gift card so I had to contact customer support who said I needed to log in on my sisters account to use it. ??? So we did that but there was still no option to use the gift card. Its like trying to solve an escape room to actually use a gift card with these guys, dont do it! Seems they arent very well set up or organised.

Truly exceptional customer service and dedication to quality

After an awful experience with Vivo barefoot blaming poor quality design and material on "wear and tear" after minimal wear I took a chance on Xero.

Prio were hard to acquire but are excellent. I also got some Z treks for Thailand and they served me very well out there. Finally I also got some scramblers for walking.

The scramblers unfortunately were faulty, they were letting water in. I contacted support asking how to proceed and within 20 minutes they asked for a photo of the label and the problem. I replied and received an email asking what I wanted to do and it was covered by warranty.

I had a great time sending a photo of my current shoes on fire and the replacement pair arrived the next day.

Truly exceptional experience.

Shoe company you can't buy shoes from...

Worst buying experience ever been checking out their UK site for weeks to try a set of Prio. Everytime I go on, the shoes are out of stock. I eventually emailed the company only to be told to wait until Feb 25 and try again. Went with a competitor that begins with a V, went on site, shoes bought, no hassle. Imagine a shoe company, you can't buy shoes from, no need to imagine, just go to Xero. Absolutely awful

Ridiculously useless

I ordered some boots back in July, was sent some tracking which said that they had been blocked. When I contacted them I was told every tale under the sun to keep me waiting and finally they admitted they were lost and offered 50% - after much pushing. I think they are living on customers' money and maybe don't send anything at all so watch out. I have asked the bank to refund me.

Excellent Customer Service

I purchased a pair of Z-Trail Sandals from xeroshoes.co.uk in the past, and had a couple issues with them. Although, the team honoured their word, and provided a discount on a replacement pair as part of their 1-year-warranty scheme. I strongly recommend Xeroshoes because they were one of the first sandal, and shoe makers recognising the importance of feeling the earth, and grounding, and their support team is very active, and actually supportive - which is not always the case with some online warehouses!

Excellent customer service

Have bought two (three, if including replacing a return) pairs of shoes through Xero Shoes UK. First time I had made an error inputting my address, the company very quickly emailed me to get a correction on the address rather than sending out incorrect.

Second time the shoes arrived very promptly but were too narrow. I followed the returns process (you need to pay yourself but that's clear in the returns policy when purchasing) and bought myself a wider fit. Very satisfied with new shoe and speed of dispatch and responses from the company.

Fan of the product and the service

I've bought at least 8 pairs of shoes over the last few years from Xero Shoes. During that time, I've had two issues - both of which were resolved completely to my satisfaction. I love the product range - it suits me perfectly for day to day use, hiking and running so I won't complain there and it's even better when a product is backed by first class service. Happy to recommend the product and the online store.
