Disgraceful company
My Experience with YesCar - Distance Sale of Renault Captur (SB17 LSN)
I rarely leave negative reviews, but after exhausting every opportunity to resolve this matter directly with YesCar, I feel it is important to share my experience.
I found a Renault Captur (SB17 LSN) advertised online on 15 July 2026. I dealt with a salesman called Eddie and paid a £250 deposit to secure the vehicle.
The vehicle was due to be delivered on 17 July 2026, however I was informed that there was no driver available, so the delivery did not take place as agreed. The vehicle was eventually delivered on 18 July 2026, at which point I paid the remaining balance in full.
After receiving the vehicle, I decided it was not suitable for my needs. I contacted YesCar by email on 23 July 2026 to exercise my rights as a distance purchaser. Despite this, I never received a single telephone call from the company to discuss my concerns. Every update had to be chased by me through repeated phone calls.
On 26 July 2026, I spoke with someone who identified himself as Chris, claiming to be the manager. Rather than discussing the matter professionally, I was simply told that they would not be accepting the vehicle back, that it was “my car now”, and that the conversation was over. During this call, I could hear laughing and mocking in the background, which I found upsetting and completely unprofessional.
What makes this even more concerning is that YesCar’s own distance selling terms clearly state:
“If you purchase a vehicle without visiting our premises, you have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days of delivery, without giving a reason.”
Despite this written commitment, my request to return the vehicle was refused.
To make matters worse, I later discovered that the warranty and breakdown cover supplied with the vehicle had been cancelled by YesCar without my knowledge or consent.
As a result of how this matter has been handled, I have sought independent advice. The Financial Ombudsman Service is now involved, and I have also received guidance from Citizens Advice. I am prepared to pursue this matter through the courts if necessary, as I feel I have been treated unfairly throughout the entire process.
This experience has been extremely stressful and disappointing. From poor communication, failure to honour their own written terms, and what I considered to be an unprofessional attitude, I have completely lost confidence in this business.
Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend YesCar and would urge anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from them particularly through a distance sale to fully understand their rights and carefully consider my experience before proceeding.
