Never one to complain
Never one to complain and generally some one who is easily pleased however I had such a poor experience on Saturday that I felt it necessary to take to here and complain. I booked to attend the evening at the Zoo Saturday 17th, it was advertised to have on live music and a BBQ. I came with my partner and 3 children and we travelled an hr and 20 mins to get there. We made a dash straight to the bbq first to feed the children before making our way round to see the animals. The queue when I arrived at the 'BBQ' (it wasn't a bbq) wasn't too long.... yet it took an hour and a half!!!!! To get to the front of the queue. When I then got to the front the chips (how do you get chips wrong!) Were rock solid and the churros were black and not edible that's 35.00 wasted on food and then less than an hr left to go round the zoo. We missed the majority of animals and we all left disappointed and out of pocket. How on earth it took an hr and a half at a truck just selling chips and churros I have no idea. As we waited to feed the children when we got there, I had no choice but to wait. We still left hungry as the food was appalling the two gentlemen on the truck clearly shouldn't have been left to man it and seemingly had no idea what they were doing. Please contact me
YWP has definitely gone down hill
For Christmas our son bought us a Platinum Polar Bear experience. He got it cheaper than the £600 price. We found the experience totally overpriced. We got to see two polar bears up close in their cages and to feed them pieces of apple and carrot with a pair of tongs. One of the bears wasn't interested much. The ranger told us all about the bears. Although it was fantastic to actually feed a polar bear the experience was, we believe overpriced. After the experience we went round the rest of the park. A lot of animals were nowhere to be seen and it was very disappointing and what animals were about seemed to be very few in numbers. When l first started going to YWP l really enjoyed it and bought annual passes. There was always plenty to see and plenty to photo. It seems to me that the park is now too big and commercial and that the park has lost it's way. They need to really think about what they are doing.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park
I recently visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The park offers a remarkable variety of animals in well-designed, naturalistic habitats, making it both educational and entertaining. The atmosphere was peaceful, and it's an ideal spot for families with children. However, the ticket prices are a bit steep, which might be a consideration for some. Despite this, the quality of the experience and the care for the animals make it worth the visit. Overall, I would rate my experience 4 stars and recommend it for a day out in nature.
Probably won’t be back
Very clean park and staff seem nice, but paying over £80 for our tickets and then most of the enclosures are empty, I really wasn’t very happy to be honest and we were mostly just bored. I know they can’t help it if an animal decides to stay inside, however, maybe reflect this a little on the price? Or add more interactive areas for educational fun? It’s a lot to pay to walk around empty enclosures, especially after a long drive to get there :(
Money grubbers
Overpriced. Utterly ridiculous entry fees for a zoo built on a horrific scrub land in the middle of one of the UK's most impoverished and deprived zones. Put it this way it's no London zoo.
£20 extra if you require a mobility scooter- believe me if you're not fit as a fiddle (and I'm a 16 minute 5k runner) you'll need one! It's a massive 5-7km walk through the park. I feel very sorry for the disabled people who most certainly will need one and who should not be subjected to this profiteering.
Vending machines charging over £3 for a small bottle of cola.
Garish theme park signage and brainwashed guides trying to convince visitors that keeping huge polar bears in confined electric fenced enclosures in UK climate is natural for these splendid bears.
Unbridled greed!
Help at YWP…
We took our 6 year old grandaughter out to the Park for the day which was very nice. All the staff were exremely nice and helpful, facilities were plentiful.
One particular member of staff needs mention, he was a young man called Bradley, he was at the ticket booths on Sat 8th he was extremely respectful and helpful I could even say beyong the call of duty. I am 71 yrs old and have to use a mobilty scooter, which broke down with a battery fault, couldnt believe when he kindly offered to push me to my car. He was really pleasant and extremely helpful. A brilliant young man.
Fantastic day out
Fantastic day out!
Massive enclosures and plenty of animals which are extremely well looked . Reasonably priced food across park and amazing customer service!
Eating out at Wilds Bistro…
We went for a meal at the Wilds Bistro at the Yorkshire Wildlifepark yesterday, what a lovely experience.
The restaurant had a delightful ambiance, all the staff were amazing and the food was excellent. We were greeted by Amelia who firstly asked if we had any allergy requirements, which was excellent.
My wife opted for the GF fish and chips and I had the spicy cauliflower balti pie; both choices were delicious and we both will definitely be coming back.
Thank you all, Andy P
Seriously not impressed!! Very disappointed
Spent the night in the Hex hotel on the park the night before our intended visit round the park. 1st room allocated, toilet coming away from the wall. We were moved to another room which was fine.
Next morning, a total washout as rained all night. The car park was flooded so the park will be even worse and I’m sure the animals have got more sense than to come out of their enclosures in torrential rain. Asked for a future dated ticket as there is no point in going round the park today. Was told “No we don’t do that”.
REALLY!!! Without customers to fund their ability to look after the animals, they’d have to close. They should look after their customers better!!!! Disgraceful!!!
Great Family Day Out
Absolutely loved our day at YWP. The park is clean and easy to navigate. The walkway is cleverly designed to give you a fantastic view of the animals. There is a great offering of wildlife, the enclosures are very well kept and the keepers are so enthusiastic and helpful.
Prepare to be on your feet all day as there’s a lot to get round and I’d also advise taking a packed lunch (as many of the food outlets were closed) and a picnic blanket (my only complaint is there’s not enough seating!).
There are some perfectly positioned play areas along the way including a very impressive treehouse to climb.
Would definitely revisit.
Wife and son had a car crash this…
Wife and son had a car crash this morning enroute.
Called up, no sorry you've lost your booking nothing we can do, you should have booked a flexi ticket.
Nice. Thanks
UPDATE: following several emails and a phone call, they have since given us back our tickets to use anytime in the next three months. Thank you
The place itself is well organised
The place itself is well organised, however a distinct lack of animals in the relevant enclosures left me feeling very underwhelmed. Won't be going back anytime soon
Brilliant Wildlife Park, Full Day Experience
Brilliant Wildlife Park and I visit around 5 times a year, being into photography I make a full day of it. The Park has a massive range of animals which can be found all over the grounds, some times they take shade so at times it's luck to be up close to them. I find spending the full day you do get to see all the animals. Food is a little expensive but it normally is at these kinds of places. Amazing animals and great to see, absolutely adore the Lions Tigers and Polar Bears 🐻 🐅 🦁
Badly
Went on a school trip very boring no animals and saw a worker hit a animal
I’m so disappointed in this trip
I’m so disappointed in this trip, we came for my son’s birthday and he had such a rubbish time and was so fed up by the time we left. We even left 2 hours earlier than planned. School kids on trips everywhere so teens hanging around eating on all the play parks making it impossible for little to play. There were barely any animals to be seen and all in tiny enclosures. Everywhere was closed, no entry no stands open even though we paid full price for tickets. Just overall a disappointing experience with a sad little boy on his birthday! Would not recommend coming here really
Fantastic day out
Fantastic day out . We have two little ones, who are wheelchair users and the accessibility here is amazing .
In fact a more senior lady went past us in her mobility scooter (that she’d hired from the park) , the lady commented in a state to euphoric joy “isn’t it wonderful , it’s all so accessible “ . We absolutely agree .
There is lots to see , some wonderful animals and the dinosaur walk through at the start is awesome .
The polar bears are always a firm favourite with us and was wonderful to see one of them playing with a canoe/kayak.
We are now Gold members and thoroughly looking forward to our next visit .
All the staff are welcoming and friendly but special mention to Alice in guest services for excellent customer service .
See you soon .
Couldn’t compliment any more
Having recently visited London zoo I can honestly say the contrast is unfortunately vast. Let’s start with the entry fee. £33 for London zoo compared to sub £15. Wow. Then the variety of animals is again not comparable. The amount of animal enclosures closed in London likely exceeded those that were open, this was not the same at YWP. Lastly the environment the animals live in. I appreciate that as humans we have hunted, exploited and destroyed for fun these beautiful animals world, but I have never been to such a better, safer and somewhat natural environment for the animals to live. The price for food sadly reflects the society we live in, but the vast amounts of picnic areas mean taking your own food is an easy option. Overall a wonderful place to visit and a standout for all the right reasons.
Wasn't worth the travel out to visit. Pretty disappointed.
The park was easy to find, very large and exceptionally clean. There is plenty of a places to buy refreshments from and there are toilets dotted about around the park which wasn't as badly priced as we have seen and paid at other parks. We did however find that there wasn't many animals and the ones that we did see (apart from the meerkats), looked miserable. We had all never seen miserable looking animals before and our 6 year old asked why they all were. It was such as shock!...
Great fun for all the family
Great fun for all the family! Lots of animals to see
