Very bad, terrible, horrible customer service.
My mother bought an item of clothing from Quiz and went to exchange it for the same one. Unfortunately, she accidentally removed the tag, so she took it with her separately.
The incident took place at the Quiz store in Manchester Arndale, at approximately 1:55 p.m. on 17 October 2025. There was a young woman at the till who immediately called the manager, who rudely said she wouldn’t make the exchange. We explained that it’s quite common for tags to come off when trying clothes on. The manager, visibly irritated, went to the back to speak with someone, then returned and completed the exchange — but with a very unfriendly and intimidating attitude.
It’s truly disappointing and upsetting to encounter such rude, unpleasant, and discriminatory behaviour from staff and management in a store that isn’t even busy. While we understand that tags are usually required to be attached to the item, it’s perfectly normal for them to come off. My wife works in retail, and I myself worked for many years at Primark, and we have never seen anything like this. In fact, what’s really required is the receipt — which my mother had, along with the original tag — it just wasn’t attached to the garment.
This isn’t the first time Quiz has shown such poor customer service and lack of friendliness. There are plenty of people looking for jobs, and if the staff at Quiz Manchester Arndale take no pride or satisfaction in theirs, perhaps they should consider leaving. The rude and intimidating behaviour of the manager, who even threw the exchange receipt towards my mother, was extremely unprofessional. Combined with the lack of friendliness from the younger assistant, it reflects very poorly on the image of Quiz Manchester Arndale’s customer service.
