Horrible service. Avoid at all cost

A number of scotch bonnet peppers in a sent batch were spoiled/rotting and i sent a photograph showing this. They claimed I never sent the photo even though they responded (twice) to the email containing the picture. I don't trust them and would avoid.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience shopping with Afro Buy. I placed my order on 15 July, and today is 30 July exactly two weeks later yet I still haven’t received my item.

At checkout, the estimated delivery time was 2–3 working days, which is completely different from what I have experienced. Communication has been virtually non-existent, and I’ve had no meaningful updates about my order.

I purchased this item specifically for a function, and because of the excessive delay, I no longer have any use for it. Even if it arrives now, it has missed the purpose for which I bought it.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. The poor communication and failure to meet the stated delivery times have been very disappointing. Unfortunately, I will not be purchasing from Afro Buy again.

Haven't received my items at all emailed back telling me to wait untill a certain day because that's when it was due back when that date had completely gone by 3 or 4 days. Had no response when I emailed them back for a refund because by the time the items would come back they would be out of date anyway. Wouldn't recommend anyone order from this site at all only wish I had read trust pilot before ordering.

I decided to try this online African grocery store for the first time. I usually order from WosiWosi, but I thought I would give this company a chance.

I ordered a 5kg box of plantains and a 10kg box of yam. When my order arrived, I was shocked to discover that every single plantain was rotten. This wasn’t a case of a few overripe pieces—all of the plantains were completely spoiled. They were soggy, soft, mushy, and collapsed when handled. Some even had visible mould growing on them. It was immediately obvious without any detailed inspection that they were unfit for consumption.

I contacted the company straight away. I sent emails and called their customer service number multiple times over several days before finally getting through to someone. I was told that a manager would call me back to discuss the issue. I asked when I could expect the call, and the representative replied, “At some time.” When I pressed for a clearer timeframe - whether that meant within 24 hours, 48 hours, a week, or longer—they laughed and assured me it would definitely be within 48 hours.

That timeframe has now passed, and despite repeated attempts to call back, every call goes straight to voicemail. Not only was I sent completely unusable produce, but the lack of customer service and follow-up has been extremely disappointing.

While the loss of around £17 is frustrating, I’m relieved I didn’t place a larger first order. Based on both the quality of the products I received and the poor after-sales service, I cannot recommend this online retailer.

I ordered groceries from this store and they called to inform me that one of the items was not available. I asked them to deliver the rest of the items and process my refund for the unavailable item. I got the rest of the item but the refund for the unavailable item was not processed. They stopped taking my calls and they have not been responding to my messages. It’s been weeks now. From reviews here, it appears this is a usual scam format deployed by them.

The website does not have a feature to cancel orders and all emails were left unresponsive to once I asked for a cancellation. Horrible website layout and inconsistent customer service.

These companies is worse I bought food stuff I did not see the four Garri I order from them ,try to reach their numbers which found online it ring but no one pick, and I message them through their website contact up till now no reply from them , these is scam .beware of the company

Made an order and received everything, goat meat had defrosted slightly but luckily I just seasoned it and put it In The fridge ready to cook the next day. Plantain, green banana and scotch bonnet are fresh, big yams very happy. Thank you.

I really wanted to like them, especially after my first experience, which went absolutely smoothly, so I kept giving them many chances. Sadly, they haven't been able to replicate that first experience. Don't get me wrong, it's been awful, but I'm giving two stars rather than one, because of that first seamless experience.

On one of my experiences, they just completely ignored my order, never mind I'd paid for next-day delivery. After eventually getting through to them, they apologised that "A colleague hadn't 'fulfilled' my order". Say what now? I haven't received my order on the ext day, since that first time.

And for this last straw, I received a call on the day I was expecting my order to say they didn't have any fresh Ugu and wondered if I would be happy with frozen Ugu instead. I declined and asked for a refund of the cost of the Ugu. I was disappointed the order wasn't arriving that day. I asked "so my order won't be arriving today?" They apologised and said it would have to be the next day. Disappointed as I was, I rescheduled plans for next day (Someone else was doing the cooking which i needed the foodstuff for). Made plans and got ready to receive the order on the day (the promised next day). She was on standby and all was ready, then a phone call from them - what do you know? They wanted to know if i would be happy with frozen Ugu as they were out of fresh Ugu. Honestly, you can't make this up. AGAIN??? My first question was "So I won't be getting my order today?" Again, very polite staff, they replied with"No, I'm sorry, it will have to be tomorrow". So i asked for a full refund of my order. To their credit, the refund came within minutes.

It is cheaper for me to buy these things from a shop not too far from me, but, out of personal principle, I choose to shop there for socio-ethical reasons. Sad to say, I can't endure the rigmarole anymore, and they have now lost a customer. I wish them well.

I had a great experience. I ordered 4 items and the package came on time and the items were all in good condition. No problems here.

Variant different from what I ordered was delivered to me after so many weeks

They say you can always tell the quality of a company when things go wrong. Well you certainly can with Afrobuy. No response, no response, no response. A treat of a poor review, immediate promises. No action, no response, no response no product, no return of payment, no response.
What does that tell you about the quality of this company? Let's put it this way, we won't be using them again....ever.

The worst experience ever, my perishables arrived a day late so you can imagine.

You do not have a way of getting in contact with them, their phone line does not work nor email it's attrocious.

So if you have a problem you are not resolving this through them, you need to go through your payment source so avoid them while you can.

This company does not deserve a star I bought perishables that were meant to be delivered next day but scheduled Friday delivery failed and the package was redelivered Monday with rotten chickens. I have been trying to reach out to them sending emails phone calls and no response. Please they just take money for perishables that they don't deliver on time. Stay away. It's a zero service. Poor

Really poor experience. I haven’t received my order which was placed on 27th August 2025. I called, left voicemails, sent emails with no response. A really poor service. You’re taking money and not honouring the order!

AVOID this company! I ordered 100 coconuts for a school fair. They sent the package to another address, took weeks to resend it to us, then only 1/2 of the delivery arrived, so they refunded half. Then they started sending coconuts every month - they made the PayPal payment a subscription, even though there is nowhere on the site that even offers that and I made the purchase as a one off. So now someone in another part of the country got 100 coconuts in July and August, and I'm paying for it!
