Hi, we acknowledge your review, but we do feel it is both unfair and inaccurate in several respects.
When we initially quoted for your fascia, soffit and gutter replacement, our intention was to complete the work safely from ladders to keep the cost as low as possible for you.
However, on the morning we began removing the existing fascia boards, it quickly became clear that continuing from ladders was unsafe.
We contacted you immediately—not halfway through the project as you've stated—to explain the situation and advise that scaffolding would be required. At that point, you could have chosen not to proceed, but you agreed to the additional scaffolding.
To keep your costs down, we only erected scaffolding to the front and rear of the property and continued working from ladders at the sides, despite the additional risk to ourselves.
You've also stated that we simply covered over the fascia boards and therefore the scaffolding wasn't needed. This is completely untrue.
The existing fascia boards were removed and replaced with new ones. The old fascia is still in your front garden because you asked us not to hire a skip.
The only part that was overboarded was the soffit, and this was discussed with you before any work was carried out.
We explained that removing the soffit would leave it out of line with your neighbour's property, making the finished appearance look uneven. As the existing soffit was still in good condition, we gave you the choice to either replace it or overboard it for a neater finish.
You agreed to have it overboarded.
Once the main works were completed, the only outstanding item was fitting one downpipe.
Unfortunately, this couldn't be installed while the scaffolding was still in place, so we explained that we would return once it had been removed.
We also never once asked you to pay before the work was complete. Payment was made voluntarily.
Finally, it had not been three weeks as stated. At the time this review was posted, it had been eight working days. We had every intention of returning that same week to complete the final outstanding item. In fact, our materials and ladders were still on site, clearly showing that we had not abandoned the job.
We're genuinely disappointed that you chose to leave a public review rather than contact us first. As a small local business, reviews have a huge impact, and this one does not fairly reflect the work carried out or the communication throughout the project.
We always strive to go the extra mile for our customers. In your case, we also carried out ridge tile repairs and roof tile repairs completely free of charge as a goodwill gesture.
To anyone reading this review, please don't let it discourage you. We pride ourselves on being honest, transparent and approachable, and we're always just a phone call away if any issues arise. Like any business, we're not perfect, but we always do our best to resolve any concerns and ensure our customers are happy with the finished result.
