MASSIVE SCAM!!! Impossible to cancel your subscription, they just keep charging your credit card forever. It's been a pain to recover our money. Please stop doing this to people!

Unethical.

Unethical.
They advertise a 6 week free trial and they will spend 20 minutes talking you through how you will get fit just to pressure you into putting down £600 - £1100 on the spot this isn’t mentioned before hand. They say the money is a deposit but you’ll never get that money back it goes towards the 6 weeks plan at £121 per week which therefore isn’t free. Slimy tactics would never trust with my bank details.

Free trial false advertisement

Saw an Instagram ad from this business (Battersea branch) advertising a "free trial" for their program.

Attended a consultation and found it to be the exact opposite. They pressure you into putting down a £599 deposit on the day, about 10 weeks worth of the usual subscription fee, and after that instead of getting the deposit back you earn it back by paying a slightly discounted price (£10.50 less than the regular price.

You'd need to attend for 26 weeks ontop of the six week trial to break even AKA pay the same amount as you would on the "free trial". This would cost about £1800 ish. Any less and you actually end up paying more than you would just paying week by week. Their excuse for this is they're literally holding your money hostage and spoon feeding it back week by week to motivate you to stay on the programme and achieve your goals. Which, sure, is a form of logic, but it's massively deceptive and dishonest marketing practices.

Value proposition of the actual programme probably isn't too bad all things considered (if you do stick with it for long enough), however this experience made me extremely uncomfortable and completely put me off the company.

Unethical management, poor service - BMF (Cheam)

I've been going to BMF on-and-off since 2016 and it used to be a great way to keep fit and workout with people who are motivational and encouraging, under great instructors. The 1 star for BMF (Cheam) is for the instructors and for the overall BMF format that makes this a collegiate and supportive group of members. However, unfortunately, BMF (Cheam) has gone downhill in the last ~3 months, with more and more classes cancelled (with apologies given and talk of rescheduled sessions, but these didnt happen - meaning they haven't provided the service we were paying for) and classes where instructors just didn't turn up (so members were left to run the session themselves - really poor comms). We had a group whatsapp chat but people and comments were deleted by the park manager/franchise owner - the trend was when those comments/people expressed unhappiness towards the park. A number of members have been leaving recently and some have had massive trouble cancelling their memberships, with the park manager saying our original terms and conditions are "null and void" and we now operate under his own franchise T&Cs - however noone seems to have received these 'new' T&Cs and despite asking, they were never provided to me. Result of this means I was told by the park manager that my notice period was now 4 times longer than was outlined in the BMF T&Cs, because he was operating under his own franchise T&Cs that he wouldn't share or didn't tell me had changed. Some departing members are still being charged a monthly fee, despite the notice period (both original and 'new') ending. Park manager is aggressive and defensive to any issues raised. So much so that because of his attitude, I felt the need to wait until after my next monthly payment might have been taken to check it was really cancelled before posting this review, as I didnt like my chances of getting reimbursement, either because he'd talk about these so-called new T&Cs (still never seen) or get aggressive and then there's all that conflict to deal with. So now it seems my membership and payments really have been cancelled, I feel like I can comment freely. I realise that a company is able to respond to a Trustpilot review which of course is important to ensuring a balanced view, but the reviewer cant add anything further (otherwise I guess there could be an endless back and forth), so I'm trying to provide a full, comprehensive and fair review of my experience with BMF (Cheam) in this one comment, as I suspect the park manager/franchise owner will do his version of cancelling me by undermining my version of events. Everything I have said here (cancelled classes; instructors failing to show up; people/comments being censored; being told by the franchise owner that the BMF T&Cs are "null and void" then the franchise owners pushing his own T&Cs; franchise owner T&Cs not provided on request; being told notice period is 4x longer than the standard BMF conditions) is in writing, I am confident that my review here is honest and factual

It was the best thing ever

It was the best thing ever. I stared in 2017 and loved it where you could go to any BMF and you only paid 1 price. Since it got took over it has gone down hill you can only stick to one park and that's it. Where I lived there was 5 parks now in 2023 0 all closed down and now the trainers are starting there own outdoor fitness class. I feel sad to put this review down it really is.

Failed to cancel as asked

Like many other people, I asked to cancel (with Hyde Park franchise) and I was assured this had been done. But they continued to charge me for over 20 months, before I became aware of this. I have not yet been able to get any refund, and am forced to take them to court. How does BMF allow this?! It seems worryingly common.

Don't trust them with your money

The training was ok and a nice community BUT when I tried to cancel they kept taking my money. I had to give a month's notice and they have now stolen a further 2 months money from me, despite me chasing. Proper dodgy. This is BeMilitary Fitness in Hampstead, London. Dont trust them with your money.

Unethical business

I had a membership (monthly payment) with BMF Bristol which I had cancelled with my bank.
And even though I had received a confirmation email from BMF saying that no more payments would be made, I was charged again the next month.
When I contacted them, attaching the confirmation email and asking them to refund me, they told me that the terms and conditions state that I have to give 7 days notice if I want to cancel the monthly payment.
What?
Wasn't the cancellation an obvious notice?
Long story short, the told me "I need the income to survive" and refused to refund me.
What an unethical way of making business.
But karma is a b*tch.
Dear BMF Bristol, guess on what you will have to spend those £40.....

Feel proud to overcome barriers

I first joined British Military Fitness about 12 years ago when classes were given by active military personnel in uniform. A couple of friends and I joined together for the training in Hyde Park.

After several years in Asia, I am back in London and, after a long lockdown, finally back to the Be Military Fit group (its new name). Great training and instructors.
