Jon Fuller & Bigger Living Lofts completed a loft extension for us.

It was not a straightforward project – a loft extension on a first floor maisonette, removing an existing loft conversion done in the 70’s, changing the profile of the existing staircase, taking down a chimney stack, redirecting the existing boiler flue, putting in extra beams and making sure we had the minimum head height to pass building control.

From quote to completion of the project, Jon and his crew were great. Always available to answer questions and discuss options, on time and responsive on email, text and phone.

As with any project, there were a few small items that needed adjusting at the end. Jon was quick to respond and sort out any issues.

The various crews that worked on the project were professional and considerate and tried to minimize the impact on the rest of the property as much as possible. As well as keeping any inconvenience for our neighbours to a minimum.

Jon was very clear about costs throughout the project, so there were no unpleasant surprises, making it very clear that the adjustments we wanted were possible, but also advising us of any financial impact.

The project was completed within the timeframe that Jon predicted at the quote stage.

We plan to use Jon again for our kitchen renovation once we are ready to go ahead.

We couldn’t be happier with the work carried out by Biggerlivinglofts. From day one, the project was handled with professionalism, care, and constant communication. We were working to a very tight deadline due to expecting our first grandchild, which could have been incredibly stressful, but Jon and his team made the entire process feel manageable and reassuring.
From the very start of the build and even now, weeks after completion, we’ve had regular contact with Jon and the team. Any issues that arose along the way — which are inevitable with building work, especially during the winter months — were dealt with swiftly, efficiently, and without any hassle.
The scale of the work carried out was significant. An old self-build loft conversion has been completely transformed into a high-standard loft conversion with a large double bedroom and a self-contained bathroom. The first floor was virtually entirely refurbished following the relocation of the boiler, and a new stairwell and first-floor landing were created, complete with glass bannisters and full decoration throughout.
The ground floor has almost doubled in size with the addition of a single-storey rear extension, giving us a brand-new kitchen, dining, and lounge area, along with a peaceful retreat room. The entire exterior of the house has also been transformed, with all old render removed and replaced with a full sand and cement render.
Natural light has been a huge feature of the finished home, thanks to large triple-glazed skylights in the extension and high-quality skylights in the new loft roof, which flood the house with light.
All trades were well organised, clearly instructed, and the work was carried out thoroughly and to a very high standard throughout. Remarkably, all of this was completed within just 12 weeks.
We’ve lived in our house for 20 years and it was already our home — but now we love it all over again and don’t envisage moving any time soon. We would highly recommend Biggerlivinglofts to anyone considering a loft conversion or extension. A genuinely excellent experience from start to finish.

I initially contacted Bigger Living Lofts (BLL) in 2021. Jon arrived and discussed with me what I was hoping to achieve, which thanks to his advice, I realised was not always the best! I was struggling to get planning permission and had to go to appeal to finally get it over a year later. Jon was so understanding and patient, but promptly returned to agree a start date so that I could finally get going. His guidance was brilliant, as he immediately spotted errors and omissions on the architectural drawings that would have caused additional expense, and major problems to the build later on, if not spotted at the time. Communication was regular and we met on site to discuss any issues/changes. The BLL team started promptly and finished the loft within the time stated. It looks amazing! There was some snagging to do, but Jon and his team (unlike some other builders!), attended promptly and resolved them immediately and without complaint. I would highly recommend Jon and Bigger Living Lofts to anyone. Big thank you to Jon and his team and I would definitely use them again.

No build is without its headaches but Jon and his team did such a good job. Where there was a hitch it got sorted with no quibble. The lads were lovely. So pleased with the results
