: Safety Hazard and Total Negligence: Booking.com left me on the street!

I am writing this to warn everyone. Booking.com has completely failed in its duty of care.
1. First Incident (Booking ID: 6794433961): The host simply did not show up. I was left alone in the dark, in the cold, in a foreign country for 40 minutes with no response. Booking.com ignored my emergency, provided no immediate help, and refused to refund my money or penalize the fraudulent host.
2. Second Incident: I was forced to book alternative accommodation at double the price. To my horror, it was even worse: the room was covered in toxic black mold, the window frames were rotting, and the mattresses were filthy with biological stains.
3. Customer Service Fail: Despite multiple calls and chats, Booking.com has done nothing to resolve this health and safety crisis. They are protecting scammers while their customers are left in dangerous conditions.
I demand a full refund for both bookings and the illegal 100 EUR deposit taken by the second host. This is not just a bad service; it is a threat to human health and safety.

Booking.com failed me completely

Booking.com failed me completely. My host canceled just 5 days before my trip, and Booking's 'solution' was to offer me a replacement 150 km away! This is not support; it's a joke. They don't care about their customers' safety or travel plans. They protect unreliable hosts while leaving travelers stranded. Absolute disgrace

No protection or help when things go wrong

If the particular 3rd party booking.com use and the property are all professional and are what they seem, then book with booking.com. But DO NOT assume that they will help you when things go wrong.

Two recent incidents to demonstrate the risk.

First - a UK hotel was booked through booking.com and paid in advance. On the day of the stay, the property reached out direct to say they had double booked and therefore would no longer be able to accept the booking. When asked for a refund booking.com said it was not for them to refund, this should come direct from the property. The property similarly referred us back to booking.com. A refund WAS NEVER received from either, plus additional costs were paid to stay elsewhere. Booking.com were no help at all.

Similarly, this week my daughter who is travelling in Thailand, stayed in a property not fit for purpose. The door didn’t lock properly from inside. She was given a padlock for outside. The entire room was filthy dirty - including bedding. Building debris scattered around property with no lighting at night making it dangerous to navigate back to the room. She left after one day there. The hotel offered no refund. Gave an escalation route that was void. Booking.con said it’s down to another 3rd party they actually booked through but would not say who that 3rd party is, or how one might escalate to them.

If you use booking.com know the risk. When things go wrong they offer no help or protection. You may as well book direct with the properties.

I am extremely disappointed wPredatory UI Trap & Unfair Charges: Booking.com and Ramada Valencia Almussafesith…

I am extremely disappointed with Booking.com's deceptive "Book Again" interface. A technical glitch/dark pattern defaulted my reservation (6348534310) to a non-refundable rate without clear warning, charging me £500.09 instantly.

Due to unexpected visa issues, I cannot travel. Despite the hotel (Ramada by Wyndham Valencia Almussafes) currently re-listing the same dates for £100 LESS (£400) with free cancellation, they refuse to refund my money. They are effectively double-dipping—keeping my £500 while reselling the room.

To make matters worse, the hotel has been completely unresponsive, hanging up on my calls and ignoring emails. As a student on a budget, this loss is devastating.

I have already reported this to HSBC UK and the UK International Consumer Centre (Case 70595). Booking.com, please take responsibility for your platform's misleading design and help me resolve this.

Booking.com is withholding €400 of my money and ignoring all support requests!
​I am an apartment host and I am beyond disgusted with how Booking.com treats its partners. They are currently withholding €400 of my hard-earned money from February bookings.
​According to their system, the payout was sent on March 1st, 2026. It is now March 23rd, and the money is nowhere to be found. My bank confirmed there is no incoming transfer. Despite this, they had the audacity to threaten to suspend my property page over a €100 commission fee—which I paid just to keep my business alive, even though THEY owe ME four times that amount!
​I have sent multiple messages through the Extranet and Pulse app, but I am being met with total silence. No one answers the phones in the regional offices (Zagreb/Croatia), and the financial support is non-existent. They are quick to take your money, but they disappear when they need to pay you.
​If you are a host, BEWARE. They are holding my funds without providing a UETR code or any proof of payment. This is unprofessional, unethical, and potentially illegal. Give me my money!

Per l ennesima volta prenotazione cancellata dalla struttura scelta su booking a ridosso della partenza. Nessuna protezione di booking che ti propone strutture da prenotare al doppio del prezzo perché sotto data. Oggi poi l ennesima conferma che l accuratezza con cui scelgono i loro operatori telefonici addetti al servizio clienti è la stessa con cui scelgono i loro partner la commercialista. L opertore mi ha urlato al telefono intimato di stare zitta e dulcis in fundo quando ho detto che non avrei più prenotato con loro ha esclamato ah finalmente. Non prenotate con booking, chiamate direttamente la struttura che vi fa paganre meno del prezzo proposto da loro anche perché booking non da nessun servizio. Non oso pensare se avessi prenotato un volo con loro

I purchased trip insurance

I purchased a hotel room with insurance to attend a wedding. The wedding was postponed and I contacted booking to cancel the reservation and they said I would have to pay a fee. I told them I had purchased trip insurance and they said they would follow up with an email to the hotel. I was assured that everything would be handled. I have attempted twice to contact them with no success. All I get is ai and no assistance.

As a VIP customer at Booking.com

As a VIP customer at Booking.com, I have unfortunately had very disappointing experiences with their customer service.

When there are issues with a booking or accommodation, you cannot rely on the customer service to actually follow through on what they promise. In my case, it was necessary to send multiple emails, repeatedly call, and actively chase my issue. And i have been through this a couple of times.

The representatives change constantly, giving the impression that there is no internal coordination. Often, you receive standard responses that do not address the specific problem or are even incorrect.

I rarely experienced any initiative from the support team – instead, I always had to follow up myself. Although they frequently assure you over the phone that they are handling the issue, in practice very little happens. If you urgently need help, it is extremely frustrating and unreliable. Overall, it feels as if consistent and effective customer service is either not prioritized or structurally difficult to implement.

I will continue to book through Booking.com because their prices are often unbeatable. However, I feel forced to develop my own “safety plan” and handle things myself, as you cannot rely on the customer service – even as a VIP customer.

I believe Booking.com could and should significantly improve their customer service, and I hope they take this feedback seriously.

Very dissapointed be carefull with booking…

Very dissapointed with the accomodation and the support from booking.
I have tried to let a honest not offesive and helpful review so other guess are not scammed and what booking has done is to delete my review. According to them because it violates their policies.
I have reached out to booking and they are hopeless. Terrible experience i would not recommend to use the site as they are not caring about the voice of the customer.

Quand le client respecte les règles… mais n’est pas protégé

J’étais jusqu’à présent une cliente fidèle de Booking.com (genius 3), en France comme à l’étranger,
J’ai récemment rencontré un problème sérieux avec une réservation. L’hôte m’a proposé de passer par un contrat en dehors de la plateforme. J’ai refusé et j’ai immédiatement signalé la situation au service client, captures d’écran et preuves à l’appui, afin de rester fidèle aux règles de la plateforme.
Malgré cela, la réservation a finalement été annulée par l’hôte avec une justification très discutable. La gestion de mon dossier par Booking a été extrêmement décevante : réponses automatisées et aucune véritable prise en compte des éléments que j’avais signalés.
La seule solution proposée a été un logement alternatif qui ne correspondait pas à mes critères. Il s’agissait d’un hébergement qui était déjà disponible lors de ma recherche initiale mais que je n’avais pas choisi pour plusieurs raisons. Pourtant, dans l’urgence, je me suis retrouvée contrainte de le prendre. Le problème n’est pas l’hébergement lui-même, mais l’absence totale de considération pour le client qui a pourtant signalé un comportement contraire aux règles de la plateforme. Personne gênant également 10 autres établissements via Booking ( vivre les conciergeries...)
Cette expérience m’a fait perdre confiance dans la protection réellement offerte aux voyageurs.
Il y en a aucune.
Pour mes prochains voyages, je privilégierai désormais d’autres plateformes ou des réservations directes auprès des hôtels.
Je viens d'annuler 3 autres réservations, plus jamais BOOKING!

No service.

I've used Booking multiple times in the past years, and when there are no problems, everything is smooth and easy.
But when there's an issue, it's impossible to get support. I've spent more than 5 hours (and counting) trying to reach customer support to get my money back after a flight was cancelled. It should be illegal. I would never use them again.

Nuestra experiencia fue inaceptable y peligrosa.

Llegamos a Cracovia a las 3 am debido a un retraso en nuestro tren. Cuando finalmente conseguimos llegar al alojamiento que habíamos reservado por 4 días, al ingresar el código de acceso encontramos que había otras personas dentro de nuestra habitación. Sí, nuestra habitación estaba ocupada.

Llamamos inmediatamente tanto al alojamiento como a Booking, pero ninguno nos dio una solución real. Nos dijeron que hacer check-in en otro lugar solo era posible a partir de la 1 pm o 3 pm. Es decir, nos quedamos literalmente en la calle a las 3 de la madrugada, con -7 grados, sin ayuda y en un país extranjero.

Intentamos comunicarnos varias veces con Booking. Nos ponían en espera, cortaban la llamada y nunca devolvían las llamadas. La única “solución” que ofrecieron fue devolver el dinero. Nada más. Ningún apoyo para reubicarnos esa misma noche, ninguna alternativa inmediata, ninguna responsabilidad ante una situación que claramente era un error grave del alojamiento gestionado a través de su plataforma.

Devolver el dinero no compensa el riesgo, el estrés ni el abandono que vivimos esa noche.

Esperábamos respaldo real por parte de una plataforma internacional. Fue el peor servicio que hemos recibido.

No recomiendo reservar si esperan apoyo en caso de emergencia

Fully Paid Business Stay – Invoice Still Inaccessible Despite Multiple Attempts

I booked and fully paid for a business stay through Booking.com, trusting its reputation as a professional and globally recognized platform.

At the time of reservation, I clearly stated that this was a business trip and provided my company’s billing details. Within that text, there was a registered corporate KEP address included as part of the official company information. This address was interpreted as the delivery email for the invoice.

However, a KEP address is not a standard inbox for receiving regular emails. When I explained this and requested that the invoice simply be sent to the email address registered in my Booking account (as the staying and paying guest), I was told this was not possible. I was informed that the invoice could only be sent to the address originally provided in the reservation notes.

This logic is extremely difficult to understand. If I had made a simple typo in my personal email during booking, would the company still insist on sending the invoice to an incorrect and inaccessible address, even after being notified of the mistake?

My request is very straightforward: issuance of the corporate invoice for the accommodation I have already paid for. I am not asking for any modification to the invoice content — only access to it.

I have contacted customer service multiple times via phone, email, Live Chat, and the Help Centre. No one has taken ownership or offered a practical solution. The 30-day issuance period has passed, and this delay is directly affecting my reimbursement process.

What concerns me most is not just the delay, but the complete absence of flexibility or escalation for what would be resolved by a simple email delivery adjustment. This experience has significantly impacted my trust. Instead of dealing with a globally recognized company, I am left feeling as though I am speaking to an inflexible and unaccountable system.

I sincerely hope this review prompts the appropriate internal team to finally address and resolve this matter.

Such a Scam!! Even though it was made legal in their policy!

I've been meaning to leave feedback of my recent experience with Booking.com, but I just had to take a moment to understand and realize that even in these days, in 2026, you can easily get scammed by big companies. Everything started when I booked a trip to Romania with two of my colleagues for three days. We rented a car through bookings website and when I went to pick up the car in the morning, I was told that I cannot collect the car because my credit card, which had a limit of £5,000, was not accepted in Romania by the third party rental company.

ONLY BECAUSE the printing on my card, it was no longer 4D, as in like "embossed" I think this is how they call it, when I card has the 4D printed on the card letter and numbers....
I tried to explain to the third party, which we've rented the car through bookings, that UK has changed all their cards back in 2022, so there is no longer a bank in the UK that issues a card that you can see the letters and the numbers on the credit cards. The person with who I was speaking to, they said that there are still people having the same card. I've tried to explain that their card is due to expire, and at some point no one will ever have this. So I called Bookings and I tried to explain to them that I am unable to pick up the car because the terms and conditions that the third party were no longer valid for UK citizens and residents. So I told Bookings I'm happy to lose the £6 rental for that car for the four days we re-rented the car, but I'd like to get my insurance back, which is £70, an insurance that I've never benefited from it, and also advise Bookings that they should review their terms and conditions because that term, one of the terms that they mentioned, should no longer be valid in their policy. So the lady on the phone that I spoke with, she said that she can't do anything about it, those are the terms and conditions, which those terms and conditions are supposed to be seen by logging into another app in order for me to see those terms and conditions. So they weren't actually in my confirmation of a booking. On the side of that, even if it would have been on the confirmation of a booking, I am in a position that I've been charged for an insurance that I've never claimed and I've never used. Because Booking never updated their terms and conditions based on the UK latest legislations and latest information. So I wanted to let this experience on here so everybody from a resident in the UK to be aware that if they do not have a card that has their numbers and their names printed 3D, like the old style, they will not be able to pick up a car with bookings.com. And most probably, Romania will not be the only country. I'm sure there are other countries that they still have their old terms and conditions that they need to revise. I am about to take this further down because it's unacceptable for me to have my holiday ruined and also to be charged because they do not like to take the responsibility for this experience, horrible experience.

Evitare, INAFFIDABILE SUI VOLI!

​Assistenza inesistente per volo CAMBIATO da Aerolineas Argentinas (Prenotazione NTFMUZ)
Esperienza pessima con GoToGate/Booking.com. Ho subito una modifica unilaterale dell'itinerario per il volo da Córdoba (COR) a Buenos Aires (EZE) del 6 aprile (operato da Aerolineas Argentinas). Non ho ricevuto comunicazioni adeguate, rendendo impossibile gestire il cambio nei tempi previsti.
​Nonostante i miei solleciti (riferimento NTFMUZ), l'agenzia non risponde e ignora le mie richieste di riprotezione gratuita, un mio diritto dato che il cambio è stato imposto e non richiesto. Il supporto clienti è un muro di gomma.
​Se non riceverò la conferma dei nuovi dettagli del volo senza costi aggiuntivi entro le prossime ore, procederò con:
​Reclamo formale alle Autorità dell'Aviazione Civile.
​Richiesta di chargeback immediato tramite la mia banca per inadempienza contrattuale.
​Numero di prenotazione: NTFMUZ
Sconsiglio vivamente di affidarsi a loro per i propri viaggi.

Its a scam, you will be overcharged

I booked FastPark at Edinburgh Airport through BookingFHR months in advance. Before travelling, I changed my vehicle, so I cancelled the original booking and made a new one.
When I returned from holiday, I was shocked to be told I had to pay an extra £25 just to get my keys back, and then another £7 to exit the car park.
I contacted BookingFHR afterwards, and they claimed they never received my cancellation—which I know is not true—and also claimed I was late returning to Edinburgh Airport, even though my flight landed exactly on time.
While I was collecting my ticket, I heard other customers complaining that they had also been overcharged, which makes the whole experience feel very unfair.
Overall, I found the whole process frustrating and felt completely let down. Based on my experience, I would not recommend using BookingFHR, as the unexpected charges turned what should have been a simple parking booking into a stressful and expensive ending to my trip.Clearing a money making Scam
