Terrible authority.

Only been in the authority area for 12 months and so far had to:

1. Complete a stage 1 and 2 complaint for special needs failure. The stage 2 partially upheld our complaint and the council offered compensation but we've decided to refer them to the LGO Ombudsman as we feel the full complaint is valid.

And,

2. Start another stage 1 as three street lights don't work outside our home which is in a woodland area. They sent out engineers who closed our ticket immediately saying the lights work but they haven't for about 8 months. Outside our property is total darkness at night resulting in two break ends and meaning I have inadequate lighting to my car at night, a bigger problem given I am disabled and have low mobility.

It's a terrible authority, absolutely terrible.

I had to Ring the customer service today, because we getting a letter with the wrong Name on it ..Also I wanted to know how much council tax we need to pay ,as we just moved in to my new build property.(Clare was really helpful straight away sort my problem out ).Thanks Clare your kindness.

I had to submit some documents, at the front desk i met a Lady named Fatemeh she pointed out that they where incomplete and talked me through everything I found her so polite and extremely helpful, Thank you Fatemeh

The A556 was closed today at the junction with the A49. All eastbound traffic was diverted north up the A49 only to hit a roadworks and contraflow after 400 yards. Later the closure moved half a mile west to the crossroads by the Lounge restaurant. Tall high lorries were diverting down a small lane and one became wedged under the branches of a tree. This mayhem has been going on intermittently for a couple of months and small businesses in the area must be suffering. A bit of care and planning could have minimised the chaos.

The website is too closed-minded to even deal with any complaints. I'm reporting fly tipping to the council but the website has a drop box with only a limited amount of options to choose from... So I simply can't report something when it only applies to certain people. I wouldn't be so bothered if it wasnt mandatory to provide one of the given options.

I can see lots of negative comments on here however i am going to review the people who actually work there. I go into Wyvern house quite frequently and can honestly say the receptionist Sharon and the lady on the council desk ( i think is kelly ) are so helpful it puts many other staff to shame.

Fantastic reception staff. The lovely lady helped me tremendously when i was homeless and waiting for West Cheshire Homes to help me. She had blonde hair and offered me nothing but respect and drinks ! Thank you

Went into council office and managed to speak to a lady regarding my lost Bus Pass. She was very polite and helpful. I have now received my replacement bus pass.

CWAC send every Resident a Council Tax Statement out which states that you as a Tenant have from the 01/04/2023 to 31/03/2024 to pay off your Council Tax in full throughout a Twelve Month Period. But, in their Statement they deduct the Months' of February & March by upping the amounts per month, up to the 02/01/2024 as your final payment, which is a Ten Month Period, not Twelve as their Statements clearify. But, if you fall behind with their Ten Month Payment Plan, they send out letters stating you are in arrears & threaten you with Court Action & a Recovery Proceeding. Which Legally, they cannot do after setting a set amount of time over a Twelve Month Period to their recommended Installments, there is nothing on Paper that says, that is the amount you MUST pay as it is calculated wrong. So, I say to everyone under Cheshire West & Chester Council, double-check your Statements, you have the right to pay over a TWELVE MONTH PERIOD, not TEN MONTHS as they State on your Personal Statement.

When are the council going to fix local potholes?
It seems they’re getting significantly worse and very little is being done.
Motorists, me included, are forced to swerve to avoid damage, thus risking collisions.
I have seen several instances of potholes being highlighted for repair in white, and not fixed. Also one pothole being fixed and its neighbour left (despite being highlighted). Sometimes repairs are made on top of previous failed repairs, resulting in really rough surfaces.
Come on CWAC, this is not rocket science, just fix them rather than paying out huge sums in compensation for damaged cars…
…and return Cheshire to its former glory, rather than appearing to be a 3rd world country.

Absolutely horrible customer service they just can be asked to work the lady I have spoken to she doesn’t give the right advice .

Fantastic people. Very helpful. I live in a rental property and the chimney blew down causing it to classed as an unsafe structure. The people dealt with this immediately and put up a barrier to stop anyone walking past being in danger. Excellent work. Well done.

This PCN, quite simply, went to the wrong address, specifically my rented office which I was forced to move out of at short notice on safety grounds, during the Pandemic. I had no knowledge of this offence, nor any forwarding address at that time due to domestic circumstances. The first I heard of this minor infringement (just 50m or so before the bus lane joined the main carriageway adjacent to the Overleigh roundabout, Chester) was a text from a person employed by a firm of Enforcement Agents/ Bailiffs (Newlyn) who attended my (current) address to remove my possessions. Fortunately, nobody was at home. I responded to the text within 5 mins. and was instructed to pay £321 to avoid further costs being ramped up on my (apparent) "account". This followed my lengthy appeal to the Traffic Enforcement Centre (TEC) in Northampton being rejected because "The Court does not consider a hearing at Northampton would be appropriate"??? It appears that Northampton Court is some sort of Clearing House for traffic offences. I sent the appeal paperwork to the single address given by TEC. I had already paid £86 prior to appealing, as these people from Newlyn were champing at the bit to escalate their costs and/or remove my possessions. The Appeal forms, duly witnessed, sworn oath and signed, were sent to the address given, so this rejection on spurious grounds made no sense whatsoever. To date, I have spent approx. 7 hrs attempting to resolve this matter, and request an investigation, I emailed them 2 weeks ago requesting clarification, and explaining the hardship of paying almost 50% of my monthly income, as a retired person, against a penalty that attracts a £30 fixed penalty. No response forthcoming, despite my follow up calls. Anything to do with Parking/Bus Lane issues is impossible to resolve if matters escalate, as they simply refuse to take calls as a matter of policy, it appears. Dreadful, costly, stressful and time-consuming experience with no reasonable hope of recourse, given their systemic deficiencies.

Just before covid i took sewing machine to the new tip..1st trip..i didnt park on the ' P' ?? Was surrounded by 3 male workers,thier behaviour was disgraceful! No P visible dew to cars covering..the letter i recieved was full ov false accusations! Since then,i have plenty ov same in file ..i sent full report to complaints dept! Lol..also a meeting with Paul Blackburn..horrible man...ongoing investigation by me..! This behavior is unforgiveable.

Staying in the area and seen all my friends wheelie bins!!! I’m afraid I would just drop them back to the town hall at the same unearthly hour they were delivered!!

I have got 3 bins only of which one is my choice. All my recycling goes in one bin. A sensible council.

Cheshire West has exceptional quality homes, one of the best, but one of their out-of-touch, traditionally stagnant staff, such as Boris Johnson's fan Sarah Townsend, makes it ugly.

Level of service provided by CWAC is abysmal. They dont answer the phone or the number has voicemail telling you they're not available. And this after receiving a letter telling you to ring. Also, I've been waiting since 19/5/22 for my council tax bill, still haven't received it. Just get automated emails saying they have a backlog.

Cheshire used to be the best county in England but it is now going down hill rapidly. A few examples are:- the county looks like a tip, its becoming a total housing estate soon to be called Milton Keynes the second. The council tax is appallingly high for the service given. Tried to contact someone for help in the council offices, not a chance. Only gave one star because I couldn't give review otherwise.

I am disgusted with the problems I am having claiming for a tyre due to a terrible pot hole in the road which nearly caused a fatal accident .I reported it straight away and was in a really bad state on the phone due to the stress it had caused .i am not in good health and this accident caused unnecessary upset for us and my tire was completely flat. I was asked to send in the receipt which is 50 ish pounds and I'm having nothing but trouble. Being passed to different people different offices emails and so much I feel that this council does not care and will not face responsibility the stress this council is causing is contributing to unnecessary stress .the hole is now filled in thank goodness...but now I am being asked for a photograph of the hole but nobody mentioned that at the time and ut was a good job they didn't because how could we have taken a photo on such a busy road when we all were suffering with shock due to such a terrible incident .

I received a penalty notice for driving in an empty bus lane for half a minute?!? Had a tyre blow out, repairs would cost me £180 for 2 new tyres and tracking, looking for a garage at the time. As highlighted to Cheshire council, I wasn't driving in multiple bus lanes, blocking anyone or any vehicle, or causing a nuisance hy speeding. NO COMPASSION WHATSOEVER, THEY DO THIS TO OTHER PEOPLE AND NEED REMOVING, NOT FIT TO GOVERN. I appealed but they don't care and did not give this any thought at all. No compassion whatsoever from these fleece merchants who just want to sponge money from normal people and profit from cold greed.
I am also between jobs so money is tricky at the moment and I told them. Chester Council are disrespectful and a disgrace. PLEASE AVOID! THEY ARE ONLY AFTER YOUR MONEY!!
