Not Worth the Time, Effort, or Money
Poor experience, unfortunately. Not entirely with Compass, but with Stamp Check filtering through to Compass. I was provided an Estimate range of figures that was incorrect at best, negligent at worst. The final figure ended up being several thousands more than the quoted Estimate range. As nice as the people at Compass were, I would not recommend the service through Stamp Check. Perhaps Compass would be ok as a standalone option.
**UPDATE** Compass engaged with me beyond the experience and have provided a satisfactory outcome. As I stated originally, Compass have remained professional and were good to deal with.

Stamp Check is an independent referral tool outside of our control, and its ranges are based on limited data. Once a case reaches Compass we carry out a full, HMRC-compliant calculation using the complete information provided. The Compass form was easy to understand. Once it was completed, I listened to a reading of the form and assured the official that the points were correct.

My solicitor used Compass for the SDLT…
My solicitor used Compass for the SDLT calculation and submission as part of purchasing a property as by their own admission they were not tax advisors.
The technology and the customer service from the team were excellent - would use again and recommend all solicitors look at this tool
