I had a really positive experience with the DBS process today. I had previously struggled with other companies, but Ross made the whole process so much easier and straightforward.
He was extremely helpful, responded promptly to my questions, and was always happy to assist. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and his patience and support made a process I had found difficult before feel much more manageable.
Thanks again for all your help — it was genuinely appreciated!

Let’s start with a plus - Kathryn, who dealt with my application the second time was very efficient and courteous. The previous assistant seemed to be typing from a script and getting a straight answer was very difficult which led to miscommunication and having to resubmit my claim. The whole process should be simple but it’s counterintuitive and it’s not made clear how an independent verifier gets to access the application or who has to contact them. There is definitely room for improvement!

Could be clearer
Update: I initially had a frustrating experience when an £18 corporate subscription was applied while I was trying to complete a standard individual DBS check. However, after leaving feedback, Tom from Clear Check emailed me directly to resolve the issue.
Tom was polite and professional throughout. He arranged a full refund for the £18 fee, confirmed my account was completely cancelled with no ongoing subscription and assured me that steps are being taken to clarify the application process for individual users.
Although the initial process could be clearer, I am grateful for the resolution once brought to Tom’s attention. Upgraded from 1 star to 3 stars for the prompt resolution.
Initial review: I was searching for an official DBS check and was directed through Google search ads into CRB Direct website which is one of the Clear check companies , where I end up unknowingly buying a "Corporate Registration" and was charged £18.00 for a "CRB Corporate Registration" that I did not ask for and cannot use. I contacted customer support on the exact same day to cancel the account and request a refund . Instead of refunding my money, they - a person namely Steven- refused, claiming their registration fee is non-refundable by virtue of creating an account, while casually mentioning that they would "cancel my next renewal" revealing they had set up a recurring subscription without my explicit consent. No checks or documents were ever processed through their platform. Relying on blanket "non-refundable" terms for automated registrations that were purchased under misleading circumstances is completely unacceptable under UK consumer law. I have had to dispute this transaction through my bank via a chargeback and block them from taking further payments. Be extremely cautious when using this service - ensure you read every detail or use official government portals directly. Invoice Ref: INV-68406-001 Ref No: 68406

CRB provide a great service with personal touch
Ross took the time to contact me directly and work closely to get the correct documentation provided as well as talking me through the Enhanced DBS process succinctly. This is the third time I have used CRB and they have always done a good job. Will certainly use again for my other staff.

Having a telephone access rather than all being done by email would have sped up the processing significantly.

Great Support from Ross
Ross was fantastically supportive. We were having to apply for an unusually high volume of DBS, and I was very rusty after a 7 year break from using this type of platform. Ross was informative, patient, and dedicated a great deal of time to supporting me to get the applications completed. Having to call me back several times to talk me through things. It was greatly appreciated.

Tom was my support advisor and replied very quickly to all my questions and i had plenty. He even called me and talked me through the application process which was slightly confusing. I have dealt with a lot of customer support over the years and i must admit Tom was by far one of the best. Nothing was too much trouble.
