Friendly staff

Friendly staff , lovely food and great atmosphere overall. As someone beginning their weighloss journey I worried about coming to the gym. I had absolutely nothing to worry about. No judgement and everyone is supportive , especially staff ☺️

Terrible customer service for freezing membership due to medical grounds

Even though on the online form and in an email I asked to suspend my and my son’s membership from 1 May, they still suspended it from 1 April. I am freezing due to medical grounds due to lung surgery.

Even though I waited until after the 20th March to ensure they would cancel from the following month so it wouldn’t affect my direct debit for April. As per their own terms and conditions!

Last year I had surgery and they did the same thing and also forgot to suspend my son’s membership when he is two and clearly can’t go without me. Terrible customer service as they can’t even read basic emails. Millenni was my customer service advisor this time. I am thoroughly disappointed with what should be something so straightforward that is still managed to be messed up.

Regularly at club

Regularly at club. Enjoyed the sprint triathlon on Sunday- well done Sabrina and team. Very busy at times with parking an issue.
Maddie on beverage is always helpful. Also Claire on reception.

Thank You - Member Support Team

I needed to speak to the club today to make some changes with my membership. James Imray from the Member Support team was really helpful and able to make the changes I needed immediately, without any hassle or problems. Thank you James for making the transition really easy for me. David Lloyd is my treat to myself every month and I use the club a lot, it’s my happy place.

Great club but was not informed about thursday nights not being able to go to spa

Amazing club great helpful staff... My family and I love it and find it enjoyable.

The one thing I would say I dislike is the fact I was not informed about men not being able to use the Spa on Thursday nights. I find it to be quite sexist that there is a WOMANS only night and men do not get this same experience, and would of probably went to my second option at Third Space if I did know this.

Abdi Mohamed, the Membership Support Advisor for David Lloyds Clubs was very quick and proficient to help me on a personal issue. I would thoroughly recommend reaching out to the membership team if you have any questions or clarifications - Abdi is certainly the go to person without a doubt - they made me feel heard and looked after and gave me a brilliant result which I was looking for. 5 Star Service!

Success has ruined the experience of this brand.

Unfortunately this is a club that fails to understand the importance of customer experience, as a brand David Lloyd are known for high class leisure and attract a clientele that demands high quality however quality is not defined by the price charged monthly it is defined by the way it treats its members. I was a member for over 10 years and when I left taking 5 other members of the same household they rang to enquire why, I explained an appalling incident had taken place for which they agreed was entirely the fault of the club and proceeded to do absolutely nothing. I was not offered an apology, an explanation and no attempt was made to follow up after years and years of paying significant monthly fees for 5 members. I am a company director and thank goodness I do not treat my customers with such arrogance and ignorance.

managers need more training

great facilities but managers are very rude and they have no customer service, they keep ignoring the problems. james doesnt help with anything and keeps ignoring any problems that occur

Quick and Easy Membership Changes

I used the 'Ask the Club' live chat service on the app to make an amendment to my membership and was immediately put through to Ollie who sorted it for me really quickly, and he was incredibly efficient. Couldn't be more pleased, and I really appreciate functions like this for people who don't always like talking face-to-face without having to wait days for an email response.

Kim’s strong core class was great

My husband and myself did strong core with Kim, the class was great, Kim explained the exercises thoroughly and gave different options depending on your level. I would definitely recommend this class and will be going back.

Friendly club

Friendly club, very clean, plenty to do. Lovely pools with pool side sauna/steam and hot tub. Staff are very friendly. Quite happy to visit on my own and don’t feel Intimidated.

Basildon DL needs to be refurbished

Basildon DL needs to be refurbished. The female locker room is dreadful, broken doors on cupboards, rotting wood . A water fountain that just dribbles water . Tired run down shower cubicles. No lighting in the far end of car park (since October, reported several times). Studio 2 dirty. Chaotic fitness timetable scheduling.

Very disappointing experience.

Very disappointing experience.

I have been a regular gym user at David Lloyd, and recently I had to raise a formal complaint because of the way my 11-year-old son, our family friend and I were treated by staff.

The issue was not simply club policy. If the club has a rule about external personal trainers, that should be communicated clearly, politely and professionally. Instead, staff made assumptions and presented something as fact that was not true — namely that I had “hired” our friend as a personal trainer. I never said that, and I find it deeply unacceptable that such a claim was apparently repeated and then used as the basis for challenging us.

My son is 11. It is entirely reasonable that he is accompanied in the gym by a trusted older person who helps him exercise safely and guides him appropriately. Rather than handling this situation with common sense and respect, staff were rude, confrontational and repeatedly challenged our friend in a way that felt unnecessary and intimidating.

What is most disappointing is that we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in a club where we should feel safe and respected as paying members. There is a huge difference between enforcing policy and treating people with hostility.

I expect professionalism, respect and basic honesty from staff. Sadly, that is not what we experienced.
