Express delivery is not express delivery
I have an upcoming wedding, paid for express delivery, they also made me pay for protection on delivery. It was meant to be delivered in 2 working days and 5 days later its still in the UK. You only get through to AI when trying to contact them. I would not buy again from them.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. I returned a dress that did not fit and did not recieve any update on the return only knew that it had reached them by contacting An Post myself. The return reached them on the 1st of April now it's the 21st of April and I haven't received any update or confirmation of the return. I have tried to contact them via messaging multiple times which is handled by a bot each time I reply the conversation seems to go around in circles with them asking for the same details multiple times. Absolutely terrible customer experience. Would not purchase from them again.
Impossible customer service
Sent back two dresses can see were delivered yet Debenhams denying they’ve received them and requesting proof of posting - I’ve supplied them with emails and screenshots from an post confirming when and where parcel was sent and when it was delivered. Been using their messaging service for the last two weeks and getting nowhere- sane questions being asked and no replies then. How the hell do I get my refund when no human to talk too???? I’m down €200 a complete rip off and con artists
Terrible for giving you refunds
Please please do not order anything from them unless you are 100% sure that you do not have to return it. I received my dress within 2 days which in fairness is excellent but the next day which was a month a a half ago and I still have not received a refund. Terrible service not refunding peoples money. They told me I would have to wait 28 days and then maybe another 5 days to hit my bank account but that was 10 days ago.

Received order promptly. However, did not suit so returned as instructed via an Post. Tracked and returned item received by them on 05.02.26. Still waiting on refund. 7 emails sent before receiving any reply. Then received email to say refund issued on 16.03.26 but still not received. Two more emails sent but no reply to date. confidence lost with Debenhams and indeed with online

AVOID! Ordered at the start of February, got no confirmation email. Thank god I had screenshot my order number when ordering because I don’t know how I would be able to log a return without it? One of the dresses didn’t fit so I did the online deturn and dropped it to An Post. It was delivered back to Debenhams on 15 Feb, and I’m still chasing for a refund. You just get sent around in circles by their bot. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Don’t buy anything from them!!!!! Only giving one star because I can’t give zero! Ordered a jacket online, I received no email confirmation of my order. Tried contacting them online for an update but they were no help. It arrived 10 days later but was very different than the pictures online so decided to return it. Generated a returns label with a tracking number and posted it back. Saw it had been successfully returned a week later but got no update whatsoever from Debenhams despite it saying on their website this would happen. Have attempted to contact them on multiple occasions over the past 2 weeks via Facebook messenger as they don’t have an email or phone number to contact them on. Was talking to a bot, finally got a reply off a real person saying they’d be in touch in 48hrs with an update and never heard from them again. That was a week ago! Tried contacting them again to be back to square one being asked the same questions by a bit. Have had to initiate a chargeback through the bank to try get my money back as it has been over a month since I returned the item and still have not been refunded. Such a joke and horrendous customer service!!

Avoid – Ongoing Refund Issues and Poor Customer Service
I returned an item to Debenhams over 8 weeks ago and still have not received my full refund.
After weeks of trying to contact customer service, they eventually provided only half of the refund amount — and this was issued as a gift card, not back to my original payment method. I did not select or agree to receive a gift card.
When I initially attempted to process the return on their website, it glitched. This now appears to have been used as justification for issuing a gift card instead of refunding me properly.
After contacting my bank, they confirmed this is a common issue reported by customers who have purchased from this company.
Customer service has been extremely disappointing and unhelpful throughout. I am still owed the remaining balance of my refund.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to be cautious before purchasing
Slow delivery even slower refund & no update emails
Placed order on 03 Jan 2026, only got welcome email from Debenhams but no confirmation of order email, luckily had taken screen shot at purchase so had Order number. Eventually received order 15 January but all items were unsuitable so processed return on Debenhams portal on same day 15 January using Order number from screen shot & then dropped parcel to An Post on 16 January. I still have received no email from Debenhams at 31 January to acknowledge return and An Post courier tracking says item is being prepared for delivery, no email or phone number available to contact Debenhams on their website but there is an AI assistant available via WhatsApp and this tells me for ROI I need to allow until 13.02.2026 as the refund period end date. This means almost a full month before possible refund as well as almost 2 weeks for delivery in the first place and no email updates about any of the process or to provide Order number! So customer service is appalling & I won’t shop with Debenhams again, if I had not taken screen shot I could not even have returned the items.

After returning two dresses almost 2 weeks ago, I'm still waiting for my refund. I can see from the tracking number that the returned parcel was delivered but there has been no confirmation email from Debenhams. Not convinced WhatsApp works as channel for communication as there has been no response. I will avoid shopping with them again.

Never again.
I never realised I was ordering from the Debenhams UK site when visiting 'Debenhams Ireland'. I ordered weeks before the Christmas cut off date and the majority of the order still has yet to arrive, meaning I was missing Christmas gifts for family. One of the fragile items that did arrive was completely smashed. Customer service has been no help in any way. I would never place an order with them again.

Debenhams should not be trading with a .ie address - no one is going to buy from this company after not upholding their redundancy agreement for staff yet stating that the Irish website is actually run from Uk. Would not trust this company.
Very efficient service
Ordered a dress off their website on Thursday and had it by Monday. Delivery service is nightline and they came within the time they specified in the emails. Very promped service. I suppose all the negative reviews here are due to the treatment of staff due to closure of stores, which I am sorry about, but honestly it doesn't reflect the quality of service in my opinion, which has been very good.
Disgraceful treatment of employees
I used to be a good and regular customer in their Cork shop. After the despicable manner in which they treated their staff when they closed their store here, I refuse to buy anything from them again.

I have given one star as I cannot proceed to comment without selecting ar least one star. I wanted to select zero stars. I am here to protest. Debenhams continue to trade online despite not paying their staff their redundancy payments owed to them from the Covid-19 emergency. Until they do, I will not buy anything from Debenhams or their related companies. And will communicate their failure to pay to as many people as I can.
